  Wow! So I'm actually the current IL record holder for Mario on this level and my goodness my mind is blown at this! There's not a chance I could do anything in this TAS! That weird bump at 1:10 on the unflipped Eye Beamer was the cherry on top that looks so funky and hard to nail! Sick TAS!

  Is there an FAQ? Why can't the stars be done without these A presses? Why can't you pause buffer and copy the TAS?

  1. Some strategies need extremely precise joystick positions and timing, and when i say extremely precise, i mean down to the angle unit sometimes, which is not achievable with a controller. Not to mention, some high level strategies require manipulation of hidden variables like RNG and the global timer. Now add that to the limited reaction time of humans, and you're in for a jolly fun time :) 2. Speaking of time, you can't "just pause buffer and copy the TAS", because of point 1, but also because regardless, it is extremely hard to consistently make 1-frame pause buffers. So we slowly but surely try to eliminate randomness, find setups, etc. Hope this helped!

  @@ex320kyt Thank you. I hadn't realised so many TAS strategies were so precise. Why can't RNG be manipulated RTA? Seems like there should be some physical way to perform consistent pause buffers. Maybe that would be tool-assisted. Do you have to hold the A-button with your body for half-presses?

  @@DavidSartor0 RNG manipulation is usually all frame perfect inputs, specifically making dust, and there isn't a way to know if you messed up at any point. It's also not worth the trouble at the moment, so the efforts are more towards eliminating RNG to make things deterministic (still very hard tho) Pausing and unpausing with just the start button is already a pain, but because frame times are also not consistent, it makes it almost impossible to time it properly. TAS just waits until the game asks for an input, so this isn't much of a concern, but RTA can't do that. So yeah, there are things that are currently TAS-only, and we don't know which ones will be possible in the future, but so far RNG manipulation is very much off limits.

  People say that there are only 13 remaining a presses,but uncomented pancake hasnt made a video of 13 remaining a presses,so which one did we save?,and isnt it a 0.5 a press we saved?

  So the 1x cave star in JRB was made 0.5x, which saves an A press. There's also watch for rolling rocks which was brought from 0.5x to 0. This does not save an A press but it does save a half press. So the actual press that made it go from 14 to 13 was the cave star in JRB. Hope this helps

  Also if you're getting demotivated by megashore launches (I do too), here's a bit of a faster way to get them: If you're randomly going for Megashorelaunches you'll get them 1/100 tries; not very much. BUT shore launches will cause a slight "ground/camera shaking" 1 in 10 tries. When you get one of these, a slight microadjustment will get you the megashorelaunch, in my experience

  Amazing shore launch trajectory! I think it could actually save a bubble cycle from the TAS on this stage. Also, a heads up for Deep Dark Purples, I remember testing this a few months ago but I didn't think anything of it at the time. There's literally an invisible body of water above the ship, I can't find it now but I got to it from a plank megashore launch. I just realized that you could water-longjump from that body of water to the purple coins. I tried replicating it but I can''t find the body of water, maybe the plank shore launch "swimming state" is needed to go in it.

  @@summunkid how can that be? :o 4:16 it needs 6 a presses for the whole stage (100% incl reds), 2 of them for reds exclusively...so the starting 2 and the 2 for poles are unskipable, or how arent they?

  yea so actually its been at 69x for a bit, so there was a bit of debate of if we wanted 69x or 64x to be the vid. ended up being 69x cuz bits reds 1x is REALLY hard. so kinda like the total opposite of what you though
