Home for the Harvest

Home for the Harvest

I'm Mary Jane Duford & I'm here to help beginner gardeners! I’m a busy mom with a backyard garden and a house full of plants here to help you find the plants you love (and help them thrive).

After buying my first apartment, I got really into indoor plants, container gardening, microgreens, and growing culinary herbs. Now that I’ve got a patio and a yard, I’m also all about the perennial garden beds (flowers mostly), my vegetable garden, growing culinary herbs, and teaching my kids and my friends to garden too! I’m learning as I go and taking you along with me.

I’ve grown the most delicious tomatoes and the most watery, tasteless tomatoes. I’ve killed numerous houseplants before learning how to take care of them. And I am still learning to grow plants every day, month, and year.

Subscribe to my channel for real, honest info from a home gardener who loves growing plants and truly wants to help others grow plants too!

Thanks you for your video!❤❤ May I ask the distance between each bulb? How many inches should I keep in width? In this fall, it will be my first time to plant several lily bulbs in my garden. Thanks u again! 🎉🎉

No wonder my peony has no flowers, I planted them 6" below the ground. I wonder if it will grow in the raised bed garden. I live in Wisconsin where temp is below 5 to 10 in winter.

Blue Moon was developed in Japan not USA . It hates wind and needs full sun and lots of space on top of earth and below no other roots . In wind it will never flower at all .Hardy to zone 4 -9

What they don’t tell you, but should: DONT plant all the pods. Do two at a time. Some of these plants, like basil and mint grow very tall and bushy. They will crowd each other out within the tiny space given to them to grow in this system. Do a little research and know what you are growing.

I planted russet potatoes in a cloth bag. It doesn't need holes in the bottom because it is cloth and breathes. My plants are huge. I water every day because it has been very warm here. The plants have been flowering for 1 month now. It is early June. I am counting the days to 120 for russets. I can't wait for harvest. I also have yukon gold, red, and sweet potatoes planted.

Why are we promoting alien Invasives? This crap has infested everything on my property. And it's not easy to remove. Why not native Ginger, etc. At least it's easy to remove to edit it if needed. Good luck on this in 5-10 years.
