honestly, i feel like the secrets of the game are both to the games benefit and to its detriment. the secrets make the game really cool to explore for the first time, but once you beat the game you have to basically retrace your steps and re-explore every area in case you missed something. this makes the game impossible to 100% complete blind (or at the very least makes it take a tremendous amount of effort and time) which for me is honestly a real shame. at least the core game is very fun also, is it just me or does the bubble wand kinda trivialize the platforming sections? i personally got the bubble wand really late, so i was used to abusing the pink item's tech really skillfully in order to get to certain areas. the moment i got the bubble wand, i instantly figured out its tech and that just honestly ruined the whole platforming part of the game for me...

There's a subtle but important difference between calling something a "Metroid" game and a "Metroidvania" game. The former is directly using the trademark to say that the game is Metroid, but the latter is a more descriptive term for how the game plays as a comparative term. Using established trademarks as a comparative is squarely within the bounds of trademark fair use, based on my understanding.

I wouldn't say that the devs lack talent - so much as they might've been woefully unprepared to operate a live service game. There's a lot of planning and execution involved in being able to do quick updates (without making everything explode), especially when certification is involved, and I don't think they had the structure in place to do it. So, less about incompetence and more that the publishers, management, and leads didn't have the preparation or systems in place to fix Gigantic as quickly as another more-experienced dev. I can't say for sure that that's the case, but an entire dev team usually wouldn't struggle to fix an invincible enemy. Especially if they were skilled enough to relaunch the entire game. Often times, the fix is already found but it's stuck in the dev pipeline because they're overwhelmed by all the different moving parts and aren't prepared to safely shove it into production.

Mindustry's "mining anxiety" as he coined the term is something else. There will be times you focused on factorio based mechanics so much that the frontline will be breached and enemies will snap you out of factorio chill. Nowadays it works like mix of rimworld and factorio because you harvest fesources, invest in defenses, observe if you will be destroyed or not, move resources to different hexagonal seed generated part on the planet and repeat like until you conquered the whole planet. The only difference is that rimworld is more pawn based and mindustry is more turret based while factorio has more management dillemma while you actively try to defend your production lines
