Day turns to night time
And the night turns to day
And all, all of your hopes and your promises
Somehow they just fade away
When the promise was broken I went on living, but man it takes something from down in your soul
When the truth is spoken and it don't make no difference, something in your heart turns cold
it seems that when that promise slipped through our hands we didn´t replace it with nothing but lost faith
It's a town full of losers, I'm pulling outta here to win
Well God's angels can tear this town down and blow it all into the sea
Well I don't give a damn, yeah that's alright with me

Yall ever try to imagine Bruce banging groupies or trashing motel rooms? Like it's the weirdest thing for me to think of, but in my brain I know each of those have happened like at least once
A remarkable version of one of his best songs. Those church bells are incredible. But what’s more remarkable is they two days later he somehow performed and even better version. 3/25/77 is the gold standard in live music.
1988 I was 18 years and car mechanic newbie in East Berlin, full of hopes an dreams.19th of July´88 he came to us behind the wall to Rock & Roll with the E Street Band. The biggest concert Bruce ever performed, 160k at least, estimated 250k a lot without tickets. Badlands the first song, me and my first girlfriend 17 years old where front of stage and nearly squeezed to death, but happy. I´ve found her on youtube 5:07 "Bruce Springsteen - The River 1988", she´s sitting on my shoulders with curly brown hair and a magenta shirt. I was overwhelmed. Later as a pilot I flew across all former borders in freedom. 35 years and two days later in July´23 I´ve seen his concert in Germany, great performed as always. I‘m so grateful to Bruce, Patti, Steven and the whole E Street Band not least in memory Big Man Clarence Clemons who played 1988 the sax solo, as Bruce danced on stage with a girl from the audience, to the song Dancing in the dark. 5th of July 2024 again front of stage in Hannover Germany, I enjoyed the nearly 3 hours Springsteen live. Good to see you strong in best shape. Love you for ever.
We are friends unknownly. Almost the same story. All the best. Greetings from Berlin. At this time I was a young boy with the dreams visiting the world. 2 years later all came true. "Dont come true" Nope. It came.
Johnny works in a factory and Billy works downtown …..
The intro is beautifully haunting.
Such a powerful performance, a legendary song that always gives a great feeling ❤

" Looking for a moment when the world seems right.... " ❤😢
❤
Excellent
Now my ma she fingers her wedding band And watches the salesman stare at my old man's hands He's tellin' us all 'bout the break he'd give us If he could but he just can't Well if I could I swear I know just what I'd do❤
Suki MAKES this song (just as she did in the opening song for the Tower Theatre show, Nov 1, 1974, which was the last time Bruce did Spanish Harlem in concert: that opening number was Incident on 57th Street, which absolutely hypnotised me that night, the very first time I saw Bruce - if you want to hear the DEFINITIVE version of Incident with Suki, listen to the opening to the Main Point show (widely available) for Feb 5, 1975 - kzread.info/dash/bejne/gpmJ1ruseKy5gs4.htmlsi=SFfkwVmoGsejxSvt
He feels the very earth they walk on
July 1988, Sheffield, England. 2 gigs Saturday & Sunday. I was at the Sunday gig, 18yrs old my first Springsteen gig, only my 2nd ever gig! Fantastic day......this video takes me back to that day and that feeling of youth! Great song, even greater performance! 👌
1975 Bruce is the best Bruce.
Thanx for posting ... love this ❤
Love this song! Frightening that none has comment in 12 years...
🇧🇷 ❤
This song would vanish for 11 years after this performance…brought back during the ‘99 ruin tour.
Love BRUCE 😍😍😍😍But nope, you need to be a grown up to sing this song.
One of his masterpiece for me. And this version is simply magical... Too bad there's no studio version of this.
Studio version is on album Tracks 1998. Here: open.spotify.com/track/29b70iOlgRkYQ8ZzINZXph?si=DlV6PusISMy0JbqXwia0Nw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A13pZUSPWE87x40BorpgLx2
Ah the 80's! ❤ Saw this tour in Sheffield 1988..........loved it. Wish I was still there, maybe because I was 18yrs old but life just seemed simpler and more honest! You can see the heat between Bruce & Patti already! The rest is history!
Wow I had no idea this was in the mix so early in 1974…who’s in the band? Is this Vinny or Boom Carter on drums? David on piano?
First Springsteen I ever attended. Amazing.
I agree…great version…
Great done
Lucky you guys that saw this raw wonder art at its conception. My fist gig, bruce wise, was the 1995 the ghost of tom joad,LA
Im not a Springsteen fan, like this song. This is surreal, alternate universe. The setting, the band wearing black and rearranfed on stage.. There has to be 450-500k.on the grounds, I'd bet a million five were in earshot withon the city listening live.
The best version ever. Thank you.
Wow Tony me and kenzie just were listening to poor little fool .❤❤❤❤
What a gem this is. What a find.
Best of Bruce a story of the many delivered in a way us mere mortals can only dream about!
Bruce only played this in his show a handful of times, and I was there for one of them - the very last time he did it, in fact, at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby PA, Nov 1, 1974. And to make it even more special, it was the first time I saw Bruce: on my 25th birthday with my wife. The two of us saw him dozens of times in the years that followed, on both coasts and places in between.
Beautiful memories :) Must have been magical to attend that show.
Was this shot in high definition?
Unglaublich gut. Unglaublich schön. Danke Freund.❤❤❤🇨🇭
The songs he chooses to cover he makes them his own. This is his genius.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bruce covers Elvis so well. He has more passion than Elvis who was smoother. I wish he would do an Elvis song on this 2024 tour, since he has done several old rock numbers already❤❤❤❤❤
Bruce Springsteen my idol ❤
memorable footage
GUINNESS.........................................
Such a rich and meaningful love song .. how can one many be so talented .. writing, singing, performing simultaneously 2instruments .. he will go down in time as the true legend he certainly is .. been a big inspiration in my life
Chuck Berry’s version was my wife and I’s first dance. And now you’re saying there’s a Bruce version? Shut the front door…
I was 33 years old, in our country it is called the years of Christ ♥️
Love his old recordings. There is a sense of urgency in his songs.❤
this should have been played every show on the TOL tour. sounds so sood
I was front row center for this!!! I was in the drop line, they had only singles left, and Springsteen's rep was behind the ticket seller. She said "Are you a good guy?" I said "Yeah!" then she asked my wife the same ting and she said "Yeah!", then she turns around, takes an envelope from the guy behind her, slides them under the glass as says "He put you in the front row. Enjoy!" Best concert of my life.
Great Version of a Great Song
I have never been a fan, but I think I just fell in love! I mean... he's adorable! "It is now." (In a snarky tone.) He's sweaty. He weighs about 130 pounds. His dance moves are...interesting. And, I want to take him home with me!
Get yourself a man who looks at you the way Bruce looks at Stevie.
I can't lose your memory, the sweet smell of your skin..
