I try to do a little bit of everything to shake things up, and bring entertainment for those who want to see what I have to show or say. It's cool to see a rise in subs, but that's not really my goal here, but who knows, that might change as time goes on. My goal is to get into real film or game development careers, but I know that it's not going to happen. So this is how I'll be expressing my "creativity".
Content will be posted randomly. The only definite postings will be during October, otherwise, I'll just post stuff whenever I get the notion, which can either be often or not too often.

Honest Hearts is definitely the weakest NV DLC in terms of length, content, and story- but Graham and the Survivalist were so good it was excusable. To touch either of those characters in a remake is heresy.
I remember cleverly avoiding killing several of the NPCs during the Freeside raid only for them to be autokilled by a script in the end. War Trash 2 bugged the fuck out on me and never let me continue past the quest where you enter the slave trading building in Outer Vegas. Shame all around, the mod had potential in its premise but is just too flawed in every aspect to be worth it.
Frontier hate is a bit crazy to me, a small part of the mod is what people think of but the rest is great., feel bad for devs all that effort just to get dunked on

I'm glad to see someone else call out _Spec Ops_ because that game is incredibly hamfisty and railroady. Forcing me to do a thing and then pointing at the thing you made me do while lecturing me about what a bad person I am is just obnoxious; fortunately this is a free mod so I can opt out of it at any time, whereas _The Line_ is a $60 game locked to Steam that I'm out money on either way.
Pretty sure Spec Ops isn't on steam anymore cause of a licensing thing, and even then I don't think it was $60

Maybe its just trying to be accurate to the IRL glowie experience/working for the government; the inefficiency, incompetence, spurious reasoning that falls apart under scrutiny, seeming lack of choice or else a basic but meaningless dichotomy, superiors who order you to do atrocity then throw you under the bus afterwards...
Sounds like the mod concept was "What if we did Fallout, but every quest was No Russian from MW2?" Trying to inject some moral gray area into the NCR is one thing. Just straight up butchering innocent people as part of an infiltration cover is just forced and silly. Just kinda seems like there are some anarcho-libertarians in the modding community that just kinda think "any gummint is bad, and taxation is theft" and it bleeds heavily into their mod storycrafting and it usually ends with the NCR doing bad shit... because. As a former writer for RPGs, that kind of thing never really works for me. One of the coolest parts of FNV is how the NPCs give you a broad array of opinions, just like real life. Some NPCs grumble about taxes, others comment about how there's a railroad now or irrigation projects because of the NCR. The NCR isn't ever set up in FNV as the "good guys" other than at the basic level where "Yeah, democracies and capitalist market economies are flawed and often result in inefficiencies and occasional corruption. But it's still a reasonably fair form of governance that provides a reasonable amount of benefit for most people." Not "lets allow entire neighborhoods to ve wiped out so we can find out what the real dastardly plan of these terrorists is." Also, the Followers, especially at the Mormon Fort, are some of the only genuinely good people in New Vegas. No chance I'd continue the mod if I was told to kill them. Even if I were to ever decide my time had no value and do a Legion playthrough again, I imagine I'd have to leave Caesar alive just so at least he spares them.
I loved the War Trash Series. It was super fun.

Its not great but it definitely not the worst- I've played mods that are literally unbeatable, barely held together with spit and glue- and some that just straight up break the game. For my recommendation- The Alice in Madness mod (I cant remember the exact mod) This mod is insane- like playing through an acid trip map/world/enemy wise- however the 'bosses' and some enemies have literally insane million/billion HP (or just dont take dmg idk) the mod gives you insane godlike weapons to kill them with- but they are still basically useless against these bosses- at least in the version I played many years ago.

It's VERY much a product of the time. Back then people would use that topic either to insert forced drama, or even worse have it be the punchline of a joke.

"Why has nobody done anything about it until I came along?" To be fair that can be asked in basically every main Fallout game since Fallout 3.
I would imagine lone modders don't offer choices because of the extra work it creates, something like letting the player pick a side means they'd have to create two versions of the main quest, add more choices and the amount of work snowballs. Quest mods are time consuming enough as it is, adding branching storylines could add months to the development time.

Pretty sure Chef Excellence is a reference to the KZreadr Ashens. He has some older videos where he reviewed some products from a brand called Chef Excellence, and it became a running gag on the channel for a few years. Even making a character called the same name. Since this mod came out in 2014, makes sense the mod author was familiar with the gag and wanted to include him in the mod. Why? Idk
Don't worry Cellblock, we forgive you for being involved in "The Frontier", youthfull folly and all that. As long as you repay your debt to society by keep reviewing New Vegas mod, you're allright.

1:45 I had no idea, dude. I'm problably the only person that actually loves the Frontier. Sure, there was some bad writing but I absolutely adore the hidden Lore, the beautiful locations, the amazing sidequests and the cool companions and NPCs that litter the Frontier. I really liked the idea of the militiamen, I wish their hideout and their quests were more finished but that was problably due to time restraint. Good job man, thank you for helping create that mod.
Same here man. I really enjoyed The Frontier. Yeah the NCR Main Quest could've been better and you can pretty much ignore the "weird stuff". It's kinda sad that most people just see the bad, while everything else was really good like the world itself, awesome Sidequests, awesome music ( portland folk radio ) ahh and the vehicles were pretty cool too, but The Frontier was not really the best place to implement cars. They would fit better in New California.
@@putch1773 The little things were okay, most of the issues were the writing, and a game like FNV has fans who REALLY love good writing. Then add in writers who can't take criticism and it was doomed to be hated.

In a better world this would be inspired by the premise of The Raid 2 where Rama had to stay undercover (at least until the movie forgets about it) and try to maintain the tension by avoiding suspicious dialogue options. Would love the shit out of a quest mod like that.

Hot take: The hate the Frontier got is overblown, full stop. The NCR campaign is not good, and does a lot of bad things. The Deathclaw thing is cringe and Lizard People is a great idea for Fallout but was handled poorly America could've been handled better, but people fail to mention being heinous with her turns the faction you have to lock into permanently hostile, fails the main quest and basically locks from returning to the Mojave. That said, the rest of the Frontier is FIRE. All of the above is like 1/8 of the mod.
nice! interesteing late review of an old mod as someone who'd love to make his own mods, it's always nice to hear these points made in a video or a review somewhere now, to me, in the first minutes of the video, either the music is too loud or your audio too low but I had to turn the subtitles on to catch what you were saying but that's probably just me because nobody else mentioned it, so *shrug
Just discovered your channel and I'm liking the direction where it's going. I gotta say, I haven't played any quest mod so far but who knows? Maybe it'll get me to try one at some point, your vids kind of make me want to give it a shot. If I can make an observation for future vids: can you adjust the audio balancing so your voice is a bit louder or the music a bit lower? I feel like the BGM gets a bit overbearing at times and that's the one area where your vids could improve. Because otherwise, I really enjoy your analysis of these mods, especially as you seem to be giving them a fair shake without trying to hate them even when they're known as bad mods. I also appreciate that you still respect the mods' creators and the amount of work and effort that went into making them. And it's weird, for as popular as New vegas is, there doesn't seem to be many channels that do what you do, so I think a lot of people would love to see more.
New vegas bounties 3. Okay mod, retreaded some of the themes in bounties 2. Until the big bad tries to be Ulysses. Wouldn't just shut up, made ole "Bear-Bull" seem succinct and straight to the point. We are talking 15+ minutes of dialogue, *at least*. And the perk you get before the end of the mod? *It permanently decreases SPECIAL stats, and is given in an unavoidable cutscene.* Again okay mod that falls on it's face so hard it lost teeth.
You can alleviate some of the decreased special stats with the mod Someguy released later. I personally liked the stats being decreased, but that's my personal opinion.
Which is funny because someguy trash talks Ulysses multiple times during his other mods

this mod you went over is quite literally a decade age old, its a product of its time and not much can be said about it i feel like you should have done the review of the frontier mod instead of this one
@@mrinsomniac2968 I wouldn't have much to say about it from a review perspective, plus I wouldn't have the time either. Big mods like that are a massive undertaking. (Theres also a conflict of interest since I worked on it). I might talk about the work I did on it, but I have no interest in reviewing it.
