  I did similar with a 10.5” pro back in the day. My car needed the built in screen to support charging and preheat etc so couldn’t replace it with something CarPlay compatible. Just made a drop in holder, WAY better

  Brah has a 3D printer, an IPad, and buys the most expensive case option (Anything through Apple). You could trade all that in and get a CarPlay radio head. Cheaper than you think

  Well yeah.. you could get a CarPlay but would be limited in screen size. And @; course this set up allows for some more functionality than what base CarPlay can do.

  Yes… but at your own risk as you said…. If Apple implemented a car system navigation , the Reason in safety…. It would be highly risky to use that ‘’focused’’ mode in a car…. Apple engineers have developed Apple Car Play for that Reason , i would not recommend putting an iPad, although it is definitely cheaper instead of a CarPlay system

  I doubt one would leave this in their car unattended. Idea for if you do ride share/food delivery/shopper with A/C helping keep it cool. You don’t leave your phone parked while in work or at home. Same function.😊

  How I wish that was my biggest problem. Try this here in Brazil, you won't need a maximum of 2 hours, someone will break out your window, with you in the car, and take your iPad. Here in São Paulo, we can't even use our smartphones without someone stealing them in the middle of traffic.

  Brilliant ! Now, future cars just need to create a port for external screens like tablets and phones which register your ID/customisation, etc. To start, a simple embedded port to place your devices and an optionable app for the devices
