    You have good seeds. I only had like 40% germination rate. And some seeds germinated in like 10 days. It depends on your variety I suppose.

    Hello, it is so nice to be able to grow Malabar spinach. Should the rooted plants be put in soil when the weather is warm or they can be grown indoors? Can we start to plant the seeds that are freshly collected they should be dried out first? Thank you

    You can plant rooted plants outside in soil. If you live in Canada or other countries where summer time is very short, then start grow seedlings from seeds indoor like February and plant them outside at the end of May. Thanks

    They don't take below 40F very well. I transplanted mine outside when night time temperature rises to about 45F. They are absolutely not frost tolerant. They will all be killed even by very light frost.

    Thanks for your comment. Lots of people carry them in their bags (not handbags which one you carry with you), but for first time traveller it will be better not to carry any seeds. If you want you can buy seeds from seed stores, Canadian Tyre, Home Depot, Walmart or grocery stores too.

    Thank you for showing how to root taro. I live in WA State, up near Canada. Could you please tell me what conditions taro like best (full sun, shade, part shade, etc.? Also, will it become invasive if put in the ground and how will it do if left in a pot? Thanks again!

  • @bdgardeningandcookingincan4608
    @bdgardeningandcookingincan46082 жыл бұрын

    Thank you too for watching my video. In Toronto I always grow it in shade or partial shade condition. They are not invasive here, during Winter in ground they dried up.

    After germinating and sprouting roots and plastic bag and oven why not just plant them directly in the ground

  • @bdgardeningandcookingincan4608

    Thanks for your comment. Actually until June I can't plant them outside, because of low temparature. That's why I keep them alive in small pot. If your weather is good you can definately plant them outside.

    I'm in hardiness zone 6b and just put my taro roots in bags, tied them and moved to warm place. They do have little pink tops already, so I'm hopeful, but I'm also worried, they started developing fluffy mold on the bottoms. I don't wanna them rot before they grow, should I sanitize them? With what? Cut the mold out and let it dry before putting in bags? Cut out the mold and buy new ones? Taro is rare in my country, I grabbed 1½ kg as soon as I saw it in store, but I thought it's a bit too early for planting and it just waited till now. I don't know if I'll be able to get new ones and if they won't get moldy, too...
