The Geo-Institute is a member organization of over 13,000 individual and corporate geo-professionals who share a mutual interest in protecting the public and improving and sustaining the built environment.
We investigate natural and man-made hazards; assess the earth's soils and rock properties; and construct sound and reliable engineered facilities and structures.
Today's successful geo-professional possesses the knowledge and expertise needed to resolve or to prevent problems through any number of specific areas including sustainability; deep foundations; earth retaining structures; earthquake engineering; soil dynamics; embankments, dams, and slopes; engineering geology; geoenvironmental engineering; geosynthetics; soil erosion; grouting; pavements, rock mechanics; and unsaturated soils.

Thank you for this informative video!
BIG FAN of the Gallet Family!!!
Great interview!
I'm a practicing offshore geotechical engineer in the UK. Just want to say Cone Penetration Testing in Geotechnical Practice (1997) by Lunne, Robertson and Powell was instrumental to my CPT knowledge. I have also used the guide by Cabal et al, great stuff, I had no idea they were related 😂
All part of the magic of Director's Cut! Thanks for watching!
Stress influence limited to less than 4B strikes again. Would be really interested to see this in cohseive materials.
Go Broncos!!!! Phrase that Dr. Farid always says - "As the Matter of Fact......."
One of the most intresting interviews I have seen recently!!! And lots of good information about DFI and Geo Institute👏👏👏
Always fun to talk with Theresa!
Benefiting greatly, top level on understanding numerical modelling
Congratulations Ed for this deserved tribute.
MasyaAllah... awesome my Prof.zhang
Very interesting video where history, geotechnical terms, their concepts along with visual views communicating rhymes and melodious rhythm in sweet voice,,,, Thanks for sharing,,,,,
Are there recorded Terzaghi lectures pre-2004?
That's the oldest one we've found. We're always looking for more. Found the 2004 lecture on a shelf of completely unrelated CDs and DVDs in the ASCE offices!
Lisheng is such a talented and charming individual! I greatly enjoyed working with him for 25 years and miss that interaction frequently. What a great interview and learning experience. Automated drill rig, here we come!
What I am not a citizen of USA I am New Zealander
thanks to these guys, it’s pretty dam safe out there!
HEYOOOOOOO
Wow! This is brilliant and really STEM!✌
♥
Tergazhi? Seriously ? Come on guys
Definitely not a great moment in ASCE history :-D
LOL
I am sure this is on the Subject of Soil Mechanics. Interesting but does ASCE have anything on Fluid Mechanics?
Check our Environment and Water Resources Institute and Engineering Mechanics Institute. More info on all our Institutes at asce.org!
Didn't Terzaghi and Darwin come from two different areas of the Sciences since Terzaghi, had nothing to do with Evolution like Darwin and Darwin had nothing to do with Geotechnics, as I understand it?
That's the novelty of the post :-)
I go to scool nicholas
Way to go, Jas! 👏🤓
great presentation
'promo sm'
Watching from Ghana
Great event watching
Classic lecture, thank you for uploading and sharing it with us.
Many thanks! What a wonderful geotechnical re-cap, and a lovely music couple!🎹🎶🎷
Kyle is my favorite Civil Engineer! Thank you for interviewing. I’ve never heard most of those stories and he is my father.
That's a great endorsement! It was a fun interview!

Nice and informative 🎉
This comment is from Pat Landine. I was a student at the U of S during part of the time when Del was the department head. I enjoyed this very much, it was great to see and hear how he approached life and work. His contributions to unsaturated soil mechanics are unparalleled.
Thank you guys
Şahane paylaşım olmuş ağziniza ve güzel sesinize sağlik sevilyorsunuz❤
This is amazing. As a Ph.D. student studying unsaturated soils, I admire Professor D. Fredlund's work.
Thanks for the examples why,how,what,where,which...Thanks
Great conversation; really enjoyed.
Really enjoyed it, many thanks
This is so great to get to "meet" the person behind the name. Even better to have Murray doing the interview. Thanks for putting this together and all that you've contributed to our profession.
This video is truly inspiring! Thank you for sharing
Doing the Geo-Legends series is probably the most fun part of the job. Happy we could honor Del's life and career!
Starts at 14:00
We'll be editing the video shortly to take out the pre-stream content :-)
Congrats Dr. Rollins! One of your 140 grad students here grateful for your mentorship that has helped my career.
Is the accent part of the profession?
Great hearing from Dr. Biscontin! Shout out to the AB model 😎
Insightful... Thanks for the informative session
Great story.....
Way to go Eric and Kolleen!
Prof. Stokoe is an outstanding academic and a captivating storyteller. Kudos to him. What a fascinating personality! Nick
