Did being a gap year student affect your application process?

Applying for transfer currently a sophomore, would it be wise for me to retake the SAT or would that be pointless?
@chumerranion778 Жыл бұрын
What is your current score and where are you thinking of applying? Generally speaking if your college GPA is high (3.7+) and you're applying for Junior year then test scores are not super important. You may be required to send your old score reports though (this will vary school by school), in which case you might feel some pressure to replace a score well below your prospective school's median.

Quality over quantity applies, but some kind of honors society/affinity group and some kind of scholarly pursuit, like research, would be a strong start (that is, two things).

Do you think it’d be harder for students who’ve taken a lot of science courses to transfer? Ik that science degrees tend to be more harder so idk if Rice might take that to account when they look at their GPAs if it were to be a little lower
@chumerranion778 Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the super late reply--science courses are probably more transferrable, if anything, so long as you took them at an accredited institution. For best results make sure the syllabi of courses you're thinking of taking are similar to syllabi of classes you want credit for at your future institution.

“The kitchen burnt down and flooded... at the same timeee” I’m so sorry but that is a bit funny! & to be on topic, I have a 3.94 from a community college. My extracurriculars are mainly state/world recognitions for sports and community involvement. I got an internship at Rice but could not fullfill due to COVID. So my extracurriculars are not as academically oriented as I feel they should be. My last concern has to do with the supplemental essays. I’m not the best writer, in terms of grammar. 😂🤦♀️ would you suggest me to run my essays through tutoring sites or does something like grammar not play a pivotal part?🥺👉👈(sorry for the long comment)

Hello! I think at this point it’s probably best not to worry about your extracurricular activities-you’ve got what you’ve got (and what you’ve got sounds like it’s pretty impressive). About grammar and things-I think that having a strong grasp on grammar and conventions is probably an important thing to show in your Rice essays. People I’ve talked to seem to have good luck checking their essays with grammarly premium? I haven’t had a chance to use it myself though.
