I was born in the City, but raised by outdoorsmen. Now I'm raising my own family in a spread-out suburb that features both city and rural life.
Follow along as we completely overhaul a delapitated estate property, and enjoy plenty of freshwater fishing action as well!

It's great you include your boys. Great experience for them. Wish I had a chance to start learning young.
Thanks! It seems like there's less and less handy people out there these days. I'm trying to make sure my boys become capable adults. Thankfully they're willing learners!
We just subscribed :) we can’t wait to see you and the boys this weekend !
What was the cost?
The pipe alone was $3k. Other materials/equipment + labor was another $4k so $7k total. Saved a bunch by having the fill dirt on hand already
That looks amazing, do you what it cost to build
Thanks! I don't remember the exact cost. The floats were a little over $3k with shipping. I can't remember the exact cost for the lumber but I think it was around $1500-$2k.
Bro I saw ur car and it said ur channel name so I subscribed now!!!!😁
Heyohhhhhhhh! I appreciate it!
@@CityBillyAdventures ur welcome!!!😄😄😄
You look mixed, who snuck in your family tree? Lol
That was cool 😎
Thanks!

Guess I'm not at the "influencer" level yet... Maybe someday 🤞
Just ordered a hoodie. Fellow pond owner and big house remodel in Oregon And also addicted to ice cream! Lol! I have some good shorts of baby carfish and bass fry recently.... Iron and Wood channel name
Hell yeah! Thanks for your support! I'm out of the country on vacation with the family but I'll get it packaged with love and shipped this weekend 🤙
That looks like quite a slice of Heaven you have by the way!
@@CityBillyAdventures Thanks. Like yours it's a dream property!
Du hast Humor und eine prächtige Frau und ein paar gute Kinder, mehr braucht man nicht. Dann kann man auch solche Monsterprojekte realisieren.
@@user-xp1ym9ru6x Vielen Dank für die netten Worte!
How long did the permitting process take?
@@CityBillyAdventures I wish I had your level of not give a shit lol, I hope your county government doesn't make you rip it out
🤞🤞 I don't agree with most permits but especially something like this. I own all sides of the culvert and no water was diverted so I figured I didn't need one. The two excavators didn't think so either. Let's keep that between us just in case haha
Nice video!! I need to do this on my property. Good idea rip rapping the upstream side of the. “Bridge”
Thanks!
Just bumped into your channel - cool build, and nice property. We too are building out our property, but aren't "in town" as yours appears to be. Very cool setup you've got there, and love the work you're doing.
Thanks! We're lucky that our place is real close to just about everything, but still feels very secluded. I appreciate the kind words. Good luck with your place!
Don’t like instagram to hard to get but I will watch you tube. But only seen you for 2 months now and have not back to review so don’t give up,
One more question. Know that a 2x8 is really a 1 1/2 x 7 1/2. Would it be too close to the edge or even over. I don’t have anything to rip my boards. Thanks.
Sorry I don't understand what you're asking. Would what be too close to the edge?
@@CityBillyAdventures7 1/2inches from the edge of the bottom piece.
Sorry I'm still not sure what you're asking
@@CityBillyAdventurescan I use a 2x8 for the bottom shelf?
You can probably get away with any combination of 2x, 1x, or one of each. Gluing the joint will help immensely, and the iron pipe will help hold everything together too.
Hi, would a 1x10 and a 1x12 work? 2” looks so heavy!
Probably? The 2x's are very secure if you attach them to wall studs. But 1x would work too I'd imagine. Just get shorter screws for the iron pipe flanges so they don't poke through. Gluing the two boards together in addition to screws might not be a bad idea either, to give it a little more strength.
Awesome. Thank you.
@shanereeves5024 good luck!
0:55 citybilly checking in 😂❤
Ducks will come after the peace returned.
Great pond build
Thanks!
Best video for testing bed 😂
This is something I need to do at my mother in law’s property to get to the back pasture easier. Culvert, rock and dirt. Easy peasy. lol.
Easy in theory!
Great looking table. Noticed your walls are OSB and are painted. What type of paint did you use and how many coats did it take? I've painted OSB before and it drank paint faster than I could put it on.
Thanks for watching! The first video in the workshop series shows the wall construction/paint. We used an interior paint by Behr. It took 2-3 coats and not all the nooks and crannies are covered but hey, it's just a shop
Wow! To do what you did we would be in all kinds of trouble. Wisconsin requires all sorts of permits just to put in a culvert. Then the runoff can't go to a water source. It goes to a retaining pond. We can't pollute our streams with dirty water. Which state are you doing this in? You said you're from Ohio but you didn't say where you were developing your property.
Maybe I shouldn't say 🤣
Cleveland? I'm just north of Youngstown. Are you in a city or township? I can't find much info regarding permits and whatnot, and all I could find from zoning was that I might require a fence. Lol
Nice! We're in a township. I can't imagine anyone would require a permit for a dock. But I'm also amazed by the amount of times the govt feels the need to interject in our lives so who knows? We did not bother with a permit.
@@CityBillyAdventures I should have clarified... I meant for the pond itself. Lol I know of a couple other ponds in the city limits around here, so I don't think I'd get stonewalled. I've got five acres that has river front on the back end(not ideal recreation or fishing but it's ok), and planning a half acre pond about smack dab in the middle of the property.
Haha yeah that makes more sense! Our pond was already here when me moved in, we just cleaned it up a bit (a lot actually). Your place sounds nice. The river is a perfect spot for your pond overflow. Probably need a permit I'd imagine. I can actually recommend a guy for your excavation if you're interested. We're in Medina County. Not sure how far he goes but he's legit.
Just finished watching amazing and simple build straight to the point I just purchased the kreg straight edge guide to use with my Circular saw
Thanks for watching! That straight edge guide makes a huge difference

What do you do in the winter when the pond freezes? Do you pull the dock out?
I know you're supposed to, but no, we leave the dock in the water all year. It's just too big to move. The floats have some flex to them and so far we haven't had any issues.
CityBilly, Excellent bed build. Im definitely inspired to go finish building my bed. I didn't notice how you connected the side rails to the headboard? Love the bed!
Thanks! I connected the siderails with pocket screws and metal brackets at 11:52 in the video. Thanks for watching! 🤙
You have more water on the uphill side than on the downhill side, no natural suction. The siphon works on water weight and gravity. With the amount of drop you have the water level should get down pretty far, but physics never stops
Yea!!! That’s what’s the only thing that you always need, a check valve!!! 🥳
Rich child
That's a cool hideout but does it get all hot and stuffy in that small space?
It can get a little warm if it's crowded but it's not too bad. There's an air return and HVAC vent in there
Please do the miter saw very soon
We have a lot of active projects here right now but I hope to start the miter saw station soon!
What made you decide not to use a barrier?
Not sure what you mean
It may stay stopped up and have to keep digging it out hope it works for you
Whats the cost of it roughly?
The pipe alone was $3k. Other materials/equipment + labor was another $4k so $7k total. Saved a bunch by having the fill dirt on hand already
Nobody thought of using the pickup truck just to push the dock in the water :)
Not sure my bumper would have handled it
How much did this cost?
The pipe alone was $3k. Other materials/equipment + labor was another $4k so $7k total. Saved a bunch by having the fill dirt on hand already
Okay I know most studs in house are spaced 16 inches on center is that what you did here
Fairly close to 16" but we fudged it slightly wider. Normally 16" is the way to go for any framing.
@@CityBillyAdventures thank you so much for responding doing renovations to my church. I’ve been doing construction for around 4 years I’ve never done it by myself and my brother and his wife saying that it’s to difficult for me and I don’t have the skill to do it but I’m fairly confident in my ability and your video solidified what I was going to do is right so thank you means a lot you just got yourself a subscriber in me 😂
Awesome! I wasn't always handy either but it's not rocket science. Most stuff is just a matter of having the right tools and someone showing you how to do it once or twice. I have some handy family and friends who showed us the basics, plus KZread is invaluable. Then just slowly collecting the right tools for whatever project you're working on. Whether you buy/borrow/rent, having the right tool makes such a big difference. Another thing is volunteering to help friends with their projects. It's a great way to learn from people who know what they're doing and it's good practice. Good luck with your project(s)!
From the doc? 👍👍👍
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Loved your video!! I’ve had great success catching creek chubs on a fly rod, which is one of the most underrated fish to catch using this method. But when you don’t live near or want to travel far to a trout stream, these fish are fun to land when the weather starts heating up. 😇
I've taken my kids to the creek with super light spinning gear to fish for creek chubs and they had a ball! Thanks for watching!
@@CityBillyAdventures You’re an inspiration!! 😇
🤙🏻 Don't listen to the haters, they have nothing better to do... 😂
Thanks man. It's funny what people take the time to comment about. I appreciate YOUR comment though 🤙
Brilliant video. Very concise.
Thanks!
Great video except for that background noise. It was too loud!
Thanks - I'm working on managing the music a little better
Cool build, dude. Hope you and friends and family enjoy it for many years.
Thanks!
16:00 if you just lifted the dock a couple of inches and stuck some plastic pipes under it, it would have moved a whole lot easier.
We discussed that. We had 6 inch pipe we hoped to use but the dock just laughed at us when we tried to lift it at all. We talked about bringing in a skid steer to lift it but luckily it didn't come to that
@@CityBillyAdventures Leverage. Lift it with a jack.
@NSResponder if the truck didn't work, that was Plan B
It seems like you are reviewing my life!

Question, is your bed a cali king seeing that you cut the side rails at 84”?
No just a regular king. We added a little wiggle room to tuck the comforter and so my pillow can fall behind the bedframe haha
