Hello, you should create a simple machine that reformats all formats to 2.40:1 or 21:9 and the sale would be massive, if only it had that function!
I'm considering getting a Panamorph Anamorphic lens to go with my JCV NZ800 and my MadVR Envy (used with a 138" Stewart StudioTek screen in a dedicated home theater). Thoughts?
imagine getting rid of half the black bars on a 16:9 screen for 10K!
Can you cut the sides and fit a 2.35 AR on a 16x9 screen? If so. Can you vary how much gets cut?
Hello and thank you for your message and interest in the madVR Envy. Yes. You can fit any aspect ratio content to any aspect ratio screen. So indeed you can fit a 2.35 AR movie on a 16x9 screen, and you can control how much gets cropped and how much gets stretched. Generally we find that you can stretch vertically in that situation to eliminate about half the top and bottom black bars while things still look pretty natural, in combination with some crop. Please see the guide here: madvrenvy.com/wp-content/uploads/Envy-Setup-Guide-NLS.pdf?r=110 . Although it does not specifically show stretching for a 16x9 screen like that, you can see how the controls work, and the same controls apply in that situation.
No doubt , this video shows it is possible to revive the shadow details in dark areas using madVR Envy. That's the positive side. Unfortunately, some scenes are over-brigthened, IMO. If that's the price to pay, I am not sure your product has an advantage. I thought the art of tone mapping is about reviving shadow details without burning out the highlights. Maybe some people have a different perspective or preference on the matter. In any case, this is not even my main criticism of this presentation! The colors on the right side are often convoluted into something unrealistic and even cartoonish. Look at the skin tone of the speaker on the right image (0:36). What's up with all that oranges and yellows on the skin? That's horrendous. The skin tone on the left image without madVR Envy looks much more natural to me. I will not take this product even if it's for free. Forget it.
Thank you for your feedback. As people who were in attendance will attest to, the Envy made a substantial improvement while keeping the image true to the director's intent. The video is provided by the show's participants to give some sense for what they were doing in the comparison, however as you may know, due to the camera exposure and other such things, the results need to be seen in person to be properly judged for ones self. Thanks again and have a great rest of your day!
They have to adjust camera exposure for one of the screens. So one screen will show either blown out or under exposed. Our eyes adjust for brightness on the fly without you even ever realizing it happens so when you see these in person they'll look much different than what you see here. I reserve judgement until I see it in person. The video gives me an idea of what's being achieved but have to reserve judgement for in person demo.
Let them sell the software license, so we poor third worlders can have madVR !!!
Used to be available as software only but the market for high end is voracious
yes, love the madvr so much i wish i could add a second one to our ipad! 🤓📽️🎞️
Congratulations Jim and Richard!
But can this do this in 3d if not then is like buying a new car without ac less features for more money
That Jiles is just the best ;-)
Will updates on madvr continue soon or is it abandoned? Thank you:)
Whaaaat😂 this has to be one crappy HDR TV or you guys are blowing it on purpose, not cool.
Hi, You mentioned that we currently get 24p which is causing fatigue . At what Frames per Sec " p " Is it running when MotionAI is eneabled?
Hello there - Indeed some people find that watching at 24p can be fatiguing compared to watching at higher frame rates. This is an interesting thing to compare when doing A/B testing with MotionAI on, which currently runs at 60p. However in an upcoming update MotionAI will be able to run at other output frame rates, such as 48p and 72p for displays that support it, and 120p which should be great for sports as well. We think we should also be able to do 8K48p output. :) MotionAI is still in developments so relatively early, but the progress we've made over recent months in particular has been exciting.
Alright y’all, technology has finally gone too far. This is a crime against cinema lol
why so shit quality? )
How frustrating. I’m so interested in this and can’t hear it. But thanks for subtitles.
Hello Jerry. Thank you for the feedback. Yes we realized only after the fact that the ambient noise was making the audio difficult to hear so we added the subtitles. :) There is a shorter version of this demo performed at a different show with no background noise - see the video on our channel with YOUTHMAN in the title. Covers almost the same material.
Would you be so kind to let me know the difference between the pro and the extreme?
Please see our website at madvrenvy.com, and go to the Downloads section. In there you will find a Specs and Model Comparison document. Thank you.
what is source used ?
Hello - It is a Zidoo in this case. However you can use any source with HDMI output you want.
@@madvrlabsdid you use vs10 engine of the zidoo ?
I watched this on my tv and it isnt an HDR TV and it looked better than anything shown on here.
blacks are elevated, the picture looks flat bcoz of the elevated blacks in 1917 scene with madvr, it is that much bad ?
What display is this running on? Sony QD-OLED?
Price point on Sony XW5000ES is good compared to Epson LS12000 and seems to have better black floor. The main issue is no motorized zoom memory for 2:40:1 screens! With the basic MadVR _+ XW5000ES would this beat out the same combo of MadVR +LS12000?
Do you just need to calibrate the projector on SDR with calman first? Then the envy outputs the tone mapped content in SDR to the projector and then it’s calibrated correctly?
I really like watching your videos. Your videos is really beautiful and very helpful. Can I talk with you about it?.
I’m planning on getting a mad vr envy pro. I see that the pro model doesn’t have highlight recovery for 4k60fps. Is that a big deal for picture quality?
Tone mapping , highlight recovery, contrast recovery. Tone mapping is natively destructive is a great description by Ryan. Ryan really speaks so intelligently and eloquently about MadVR ENVY and all the improvements it seamlessly makes to the image you see on your display.
Yes Ryan and Michael back together in front of the camera 🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Well well well look who it is ❤🔥❤🔥
Hatoraid Cowboy sent me . Subscribed even though I would have to die to afford a MADVR envy. Amazing product. Revolutionary not evolutionary ❤❤🔥🔥🔥
Excellent demo room with the MadVR ENVY @MadVR Labs 👌
Wasn't that video incredible?!!
@@madvrlabs It was!! It looked better than an OLED. Best projector and processing combo I have experienced yet. Great work guys! Hope to see you all again next year in Colorado.
Does the mad vr envy pro make that much of a difference for the price? Does it brighten up the image? Is it worth it to add it to a Sony XW 6000?

What display is on display, and being tested on? Tbh, I’ve never seen tone mapping that bad from a decent consumer grade HDR television. I mean that looks like an intentional hard clip at the displays capabilities…and like virtually NO TONE MAPPING. Which I believe is what’s happening… My LG C2 and CX handles that scene quite well, even set to 10,000 nits, despite it being far outside the capabilities of the display. Now there is no doubt in my mind, that MadVR will do a more accurate rendition of said scene, staying closer to creative intent, vs a consumer grade set. But what is being demonstrated, is kinda far fetched, and misleading…in the sense of what one might find when comparing consumer grade TV’s tone mapping, to MadVR’s tone mapping. Just my two cents tho. I’d love to get one of these video processors one day.
Exactly. Unlikely, that any decent display claiming to process HDR inputs only halway decently, produces such clipped output. The best irony though is that with better displays, less or none of all that tone mapping would be required in the first place. In the audio domain, amongst many absurdities, another one which not even die hard audiophiles would probably fall for, would be to have media with huge dynamic ranges (rare these days anyway) and then sell some super duper compression algorithm on top of it as virtually no one can play it back properly otherwise. In the video domain, we have exactly that. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ for displays reaching at least 1000 Nits for smaller highlights and then some insanely over-priced madVR Envy for way worse projectors which effectively display nothing but SDR, although being a very good one.
Does it work with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision? Or HDR10 only?
Q. Does Envy support Dolby Vision (DV) or HDR10+? A. DV and HDR10+ consist of a HDR10 base stream with additional scene-by-scene metadata. This added metadata allows a DV or HDR10+ compatible display, that is not using a madVR Envy, to at least have some form of dynamic tone mapping for each scene. With the Envy, there is no need or interest in this metadata. This is because the Envy uses the HDR10 base stream (that is part of each DV or HDR10+ stream) to measure every pixel of every video frame in real time. By doing this, the Envy replaces the DV or HDR10+ metadata with our own dynamically generated metadata, which yields superior results than what DV and HDR10+ produce. As an example, the Envy's proprietary approach actually allows the Envy to dynamically adjust its tone mapping not only scene-by-scene, but even within each scene, going beyond what DV and HDR10+ does. In summary, while from a marketing perspective some people might fear they are missing out without HDR10+ or DV, with the Envy they are already getting what many believe to be the best-in-class tone mapping, without relying on HDR10+ or DV metadata.
How is the upcoming motion interpolation AI algorithm going to operate? On a pixel by pixel basis as well? Can you comment on the effect on a QD-OLED display? Will it mirror upcoming potential advancements in motion such as TruCut Motion that might be adopted? My dealer has commented that the upcoming motion interpolation feature would make a QD-OLED display motion as good or even better than plasma motion, can you comment on this comparison? Thanks!
@@mrk7365 Thanks for your interest, MRK! Yes our AI motion algo operates on a per pixel level. Our algo is still in development and still evolving. I can say that we have been very impressed with what the first alpha run of the algo produced, easily surpassing other MI algos we compared it to in several ways. We still have a lot of work to do, and prefer to under promise and overdeliver, so we're not ready to comment further just yet. Stay tuned to our mailing list that you can sign up on from our website for more info!
What is the eventual goal in terms of a comparable refresh rate for the MI feature on a per pixel basis? 600hz or higher? Or is it apples to oranges in terms of the algorithm and refresh rate concepts?
@@mrk7365 Thank you for your great questions. This would be best answered in more detail through email. Please forward them to your authorized Envy dealer, and they will work through us to get you all the answers. Have a great day!
Is it fair to say that Barco has chosen MadVR over Lumagen at this point?
