In fairness, Ebert was no victim. He could dish it out just as good as he could take it and always had good "bald" jokes about Gene

Interestingly, I don't recall too many fat jokes after this review. At least not on the Siskel and Ebert series.

Dana Carvey is a comedic genius. He had a funny show that only lasted a season called the Dana Carvey Show. Charlie Kaufman (Adaptation, Being John Malkovich, and Eternal Sunshine) Was a writer on that show, think of how great it could have been if he could have written Dana Carvey a script.

Fun fact, because of this reuse of footage, this makes it the only Robert McKimson directed cartoon to feature Yosemite Sam, and even though it isn’t shown in this clip, Charlie Dog also has reused footage and lines in this, which makes it not only the only McKimson cartoon with him as well, but also Charlie Dog’s final appearance in the golden age

I agree with Ebert on this, go back and look at some of the older bonds this movie is no more camp than lets say Diamonds are forever, Moonraker or The Spy who loved me, And then there's the usual complaint about the invisible car, yet there seem to be no complaint about the fact that Jaws could bite through steel cables.
@IsmailofeRegime10 күн бұрын
I agree with your point, I think many people expected the franchise to have "moved on" from that sort of campiness (especially given the impact of the Austin Powers films), so when they saw such things it appeared less as "oh hey it's another fun return to ye olde Bond tropes" and more "oh no the Bond franchise is regressing."

That was the first R-rated movie I saw in the theater (the very first R-rated movie I watched in general from beginning to end, barring parts of the original “Mad Max” and the Scott Baio comedy “Zapped!”, was “Terminator” when I was five and a half years old, and me and my siblings were spending the night at my grandma’s house; I think our aunt and uncle brought it over to watch);I saw it with my brother, our Dad and a friend at Cinemark Movies 10 in Sandusky, Ohio on July 6, 1995, which, coincidentally, was Sylvester Stallone’s birthday (we found that out when we got home and turned on “Entertainment Tonight” in time for the celebrity birthdays)!

Glad someone uploaded this again, there is way more monolgue somewhere. Immediately after commercial break, Kimmel is looking down and then after 5 seconds of silence, looks up and says "Oh! Did u hear about thie?" And the audience just laughs their behinds off while kimmel almost breaks character😂
