    I'm having trouble getting the Garritan instruments at all! I've just been using Finale for notation, now I'd like to work on sound output also. Looking for answers.

    I strongly recommend you use the Noteperformer sample library with Finale. The sounds are great for the price point (about $120) and it’s easy to install/use. You can even pay in monthly installments and stop anytime if you’re not happy with it.

    How about how to notate that a section is to be repeated a certain number of times WITHOUT REPEATING the notation. I know it can be done.

    Hello Dr. Watson! I watched several of your videos and they are all SO HELPFUL! I love the efficiency tips, they're gold! I have a question about lyrics, on one section of my song I want to say 'we understand each other', the correct way to separate the syllables would be 'we un-der-stand each oth-er' but when I sing it I say, 'Weun-ders-tand each oth-er' in 6 eight-notes. If I were to add an extra eight-note so I can say 'we un-der-stand each oth-er' it doesn't flow the same, I think it doesn't sound as cool... I was trying to type 'we un' under the same note but it scoots it to the next note. Is there any way I could put this on the score without having to makeup a new word (weun)? For now I wrote it, We'un-ders-tand each oth-er, which is not a contraction either but at least it separates the words. I fell like if someone looks at this Lead Sheet and hasn't heard the song before will think it's a mistake. Thank you so much!!!

    To prevent Finale from advancing to the next note, type Option-Space (instead of just Space). Good luck!

    And in MIDI Setup, what if there are no instruments listed at all, and you cannot enter or populate any field at all? I'm actually trying out the trial and i'm using the mouse to select notes for now, but i get no audio. It's really frustrating and i might have to throw in the towel if this is gonna take countless hours i could just be writing it out old school

  • @ScottWatsonMusic
    @ScottWatsonMusic2 ай бұрын

    If you choose a Software Track (MIDI Option), you must select a software instrument. MIDI recording is easiest with a controller keyboard. But if you have to click notes in, you need a MIDI Region in which to add notes. You can create a MIDI Region by recording anything (or importing MIDI file). Then delete the notes in the Edit window, and click in the notes you want.

    There isn't such a thing as a Clarinet in C? Ok. Welcome to the world of, except for Bb, G, A, Bnatural and C clarinets. Same for saxophones as the C melody.

    I don’t know of a modern-day Clarinet in C. I have heard of the “C melody sax,” but even those are rare.
