    awesome video, just did the valve cover and adjustment on mine, I've got the same cracked block, and threw some RTV over it, but I like your fix alot better, I'll have to jump on that next time. Lost about a half quart of oil in one mow

    @@BustedBeaters It ain’t cracked yet should I still put a C clamp on it?

  • @BustedBeaters
    @BustedBeaters3 күн бұрын

    I wouldn't do the c-clamp. That's really a last ditch effort lol. I received a free mower with the same engine (just not cracked). What I did was applied loctite and retorqued each bolt on the engine cover one by one. From my understanding, as long as these bolts don't loosen up and hit the flywheel, the block won't crack. This has worked so far, but I've maybe only put 20 hours on the mower since then. We'll see!

    In Louisiana we don’t get the snow an the salt that goes with it from the roads. But I deal with repairs with a lot of salt systems. And use it on my hand tools otherwise they go to shit fairly quick. Works pretty decent for that. Granted they get some of a wipe off vs like the under of a vehicle. Just so my bag and everything around it don’t get to be a mess. But still leave a decent film coat on it

    All of you disregard the white Teflon tape. It's not meant for oils and you'll likely have issues later. White thread tape will degrade with that high heat and oil. Instead use yellow thread tape for gas and chemicals. You'll thank me later.

    Just wanted to say thanks for this video. I have a TimeCutter Z4200 and I already replaced the first engine due to crack. Second engine just cracked for no reason. No bolts were backed off on the block. So screw replacing it again, I’m using a plate and JB weld. Your instructions are fantastic for tearing the engine down. Waiting on JB MarineWeld since it is oil/gas resistant. Then I’ll follow your steps further.

    Don't use teflon tape on the plugs, those are pipe threads and under very low pressure so they don't need it, that's why there's none from the factory. If you decide to use thread tape make sure you adjust your torque specs for the lower friction, this guy didn't do that. Torque specs are set for clean thread applications.

    @solarflare4259Ай бұрын

    @@BustedBeaters Indeed. The frame on my YJ surprisingly is in excellent shape for its age and the reason I want to coat it . I can add some UV die in the engine oil and use a black light to check for leaks periodically though so oil leaks would not be big issue. Where can I find the hose adapters to spray inside the frame? I've been spraying FF on my 94 F250 for the past 2 years, the frame stays wet even a year later when I apply the other coat, it's pretty rusted underneath and doesn't seem to be getting worse, I bought a 96 Jeep Cherokee XJ this year with absolutely no rust and I don't plan on parking it at all for the winter, gonna invest in a decent compressor and equipment to spray it myself so I can do a good thorough job and keep it young as long as possible
