How are you connecting the black drain pipe between the two brown NFT pipes? Is that a uniseal? How to you deal with the rounded shape of the brown pipe and ensure no leakage?

Yes it will! It have a mother "root" and the green leafs are for plant considered secondary and can live even over winter without them and then sprout from root at spring :)

Is there an update on this particular jar set up? How long did the shrimp last? How long did the plants last? Where was it stored ? Did you need to feed the shrimp more than the algae that accumulates in the jar?

Use a constant running pump and a bell siphon. You don’t need a timer with that medium for growing. Good looking setup!

    1. Is that wood backdrop water treated with anything? 2. You've given no visual as to how you installed the plants. They just sitting in water as it passes by? Are you using baskets? 3. Any specific reason for the crustacean fish tank? Great looking finished product.

I don't know if the did the first 2 but he put them synthetic root nest made for birds and plants around the root he should have shown placing them in for the fish turtle or tortoise and shrimp is to make heather pH levels and free plant feed

What water pump are you using to ensure it doesn't burn up? Starting and stopping pumps often creates a higher risk of the pump burning out, so I'm curious if this was designed and tested, or just thrown together to look good.

Yeah you don’t need a timer with a pump and bell siphon. It’s self timed and acts as a filter for the fish tank. Lol

Excellent idea but take it a bit further and hire an exterior designer or look through them mag's. I would have added a bubble wall in the background and made this look a bit cleaner. Autocad it. Mess with the lighting. Then, take it even further and add some mist or fog coupled with a low frequency bass output to make it vibrate. Polish the corners and add some petrified wood to the design. Possibilities are endless and when you perfect your shit, make it a custom order kit and use a good marketing firm.

Being such a small system you'll have to make sure you get temperature hardy invertebrates. Generally you'll want it close to the window for the sunlight but the sun will dramatically raise the temperature and kill any of the more Coldwater/sensitive neocardinia species like cherry shrimp. Research, research, RESEARCH!!!!

  • @survivalpodcasting

In a word BULLSHIT. Another fake ass video. I do hydro, I do aquaponics and I raise shrimp neocardania which are about the hardiest fresh water shrimp and the ones in this video. With that said, this video is total bullshit. Those shrimp will never produce enough waste for actual aquaponics and I am betting that basil did not grow from seed. You likely got some living basil at a market and popped it in or grew it in a system with fertilizer elsewhere. The shrimp will do a good job of cleaning roots. It is a fun way to grow sweet potato. Any plant grown like this that is not an true aquatic or planted in substrate will have to run on reserves until it runs out. Seed holds some reserve but not that much. Typical internet bullshit video.
