Amy Makes Stuff

Hi! My name is Amy. I am a mechanical engineer by training, but I like to dabble in all sorts of projects including woodworking, home improvement, sewing backpacking gear, electronics, bikes, and random useless things. These videos offer some documentation of my progress. Hopefully you find them entertaining and informative.

Sometimes I also write articles about my projects on my blog: amymakesstuff.com

    Man I live your creativity and setup on your element thanks from the great ideas. I really like that you constantly think of ways to improve things on your E. The ipad Idea was genius and the dual purpose holder is cool. I think you can possibly make a small business out of it. 👍🏻👍🏻

    I love that moon roof tablet holder. I would out a swivel mount so you could watch from the front of the car, or from the rear, perhaps using a camping chair by the tail gate. What an excellent build! Now I will watch the "4 years later" video to see your updates.

    EXCELLENT VIDEO I have been wanting to do this for years... and this year should be the year! I have seen many other videos ... but I LOVE yours because for one thing... you have 2 different pull out... SOOOOO Smart. and you took the time to SAND all the wood. Thank you for sharing this great video.

    Just discovering & subscribed. Re your storage pockets. Did you design & have patterns? What’s the material used? What anchors your elastic curtain rods? I’m full of questions because I’m excited to find your channel. Shopping now for that slingshot harness anchor for between the seats & the solar panel.

  • @AmyMakesStuff
    @AmyMakesStuff4 ай бұрын

    Hi! Welcome!! I didn’t make patterns for the pocket, but I did start by drawing lines on a big piece of paper until the pocket sizes looked good to me. The curtain rods are anchored with little eye screws that screw into the plastic trim (so technically the interior or the car is modified)

    Nice. I was a little concerned that your ramps might slide off with the load. You might figure out some way that ratchet straps or some other waycould be used to secure them from the bottom to your car. After seeing this video, I am sure you will find a way.

    Loving your build!!!🥰 Every detail makes so much thoughtful sense. Love the dog harness clip too; genius. Was just reading how nuch safer it is to have a harness clipped in and near center of vehicle, instead of dog floating freely in moving vehicle. I've been seriously considering a 2011 Element for many months if I find a rust-free, well-maintained one under say maybe 150,000 miles. I hear they can go 20 years and 300,000 miles. Did you remove the backseats or are they folded to the side? If you removed them, do they go in and out easy?
