    Thanks for this Jay, I by chance pulled off an arm trapped behind the back mount escape but couldn't find it on youtube to confirm if it was a real thing. I saw Ryron attempt it on one of his trap and roll videos so knew it was mostly likely an escape, now I really know it is. Much appreciated !

    The UFC would have been so much better without jujitsu. It makes it super boring. People want to see blows and flying kicks like Jean Claude van Damme. Instead the Gracie's brought hugging and holding haha

    themusicguy Even if your stories are true, that doesn't change the fact that it's just easier, cheaper and less time consuming to buy a tazer or pepper spray and the last thing you wanna do would be to grapple with a knife wielding attacker.

    They should've put Royler in there. Royce is 6'1 180 lbs. He ain't no small fry. Royler is 5'7 150 lbs. If they wanted to show how superior BJJ is, Royler should've fought in these in those first 5 UFCs.

  • @herrmozart64

    its a lie what the gracies say about this. there was a family feud, one of the brothers blackmailed ans extorted the rest of the family, royce was one of the innocent not involved in the racketeering so he was chosen

  • @cabalofdemons
    @cabalofdemons6 жыл бұрын

    Rorion tricked Rickson into signing a contract forbidding him from competing in the U.S. This is why he fought in Japan. Royler accompanied him most of the time which makes me believe he had greater loyalty to Rickson than Rorion and Royce. Relson was the black sheep of the family and generally did his own thing.

  • @aryanazaankhan
    @aryanazaankhan8 жыл бұрын

    Royler was smaller than Royce and also had a higher degree black belt so why didnt your dad chose Royler.

  • @interestedparty7523
    @interestedparty75238 жыл бұрын

    Because even Rorion knew Royler would have lost in the UFC against those guys. Royce's height and fight savvy was perfect. Royler isn't much of a fighter, despite his courage to face anyone.

    @ fitydude - Yeah,but with full mount they can shrimp and put you into there guard also!?. I'm a huge Gjj fan but ive alway's had one issue. All Gracie's state that you don't have to be fit to do this. You have to be Very,very fit to cook a much larger opponent. Beside's even if ur calm(ish) a Street Fight will drain ur energy like anything!. You need LOT'S of petrol to execute ur tactic's. If you takedown mount and choke then excellent but fight's aren't that simple mostly. You get the fitness by constantly training but to say "You don't have to be strong,athletic,fast or fit?" The first 3 maybe but you do have to be fit. Example - If you have the ability of a black belt but have COPD(Or any lung problem)and know u've only got 2-3 mins of breath in a street fight and a guy that outways you by 60lbs and is fit start's trying to rip ur head off are you now confident that you can survive?. Fitness is everything in Mma,Gjj or the street....

  • @iansinclair6256
    @iansinclair62567 жыл бұрын

    Fitness is useful, but not essential in a real fight. Real violence is like a volcano: sudden, full on, and exhausts itself quickly. They get tired attacking you too. So all you do, is let them get angry and tired, control the damage. It doesn't take nearly as much strength or fitness as you would think. If a fight lasts for minutes its going to long honestly. Its not a sparring match, its a game of survival. Surviving is winning.

    If Kimura said he only needed to last 3 minutes and Helio went to the second round, why did no one ever call bullshit on this 3 minute win claim?

  • @Josef_R
    @Josef_R8 жыл бұрын

    Sorry, gotta call bullshit. The man in this video is more than capable of running up a flight of stairs. I take bjj and there is no way a man who can't breathe from running a flight of stairs could do this. I CAN run up a flight of stairs, but 2 minutes of rolling has me so out of breath, I tap myself out. Yeah, I know, I'm doing it wrong. Doesn't change the fact that the man in these videos has no breathing issues. And why does he look 7 feet tall 60 years ago and he looks 4 feet tall when he's old?

  • @bahilleli

    +Josef Roesler Not sure if it's "bullsh!te", as in : 'purposeful deception' but rather just what happens when a story is told over and over; especially when that story has some significant meaning, message or more behind it. So a weak guy who performs well goes from beating up 1 guy in truth, has beat up '3 world champions that each had 50 pounds on him', when the story is again retold 50 years later.... The opponents get bigger; the adversity gets bigger; and thus the triumph is all the more sweet... We are a species of exxagerators and chest thumpers... You don't just see it in fighting, fisherman tell 'fish tales' and then there's the bible -- perhaps Moses had a hallucination or vision (prob due to dehydration) when walking among brush fires -- and it becomes a 'conversation w/ G*d via the burning bush'; perhaps David slayed a Phillistine but it's doubtful he was as large as Goliath is purported to be...I can go on and on... It's one of those interesting human quirks that manifests itself across cultures, genders, ages and experiences - it seems almost surely built-into our biology... Like the placebo affect, a very interesting and mysterious force that drives us to be the sometimes great, sometimes awful, sometimes downright ridiculous species we are... .....I probably should have asked if you were human before assuming, lol... But hey :)

  • @Josef_R
    @Josef_R8 жыл бұрын

    +bahilleli if a fisherman had told a story, I would have called bullshit on him as well. it's one thing to tell a folktale because it's your family's history, but to base your business on it is bullshit.
