KNIVES - OUTDOORS - GEAR REVIEWS - HIKING - CAMPING - GEOCACHING

My focus with knives is that I both use and collect them. As a left hander I look for knives and carry systems that are suitable for the left handed minority.

I also want to get out there and capture some video of the great Aussie outdoors. This will be things like day hikes, geocaching, camping, with a bit of gear testing thrown in.

I make no claims to be any kind of expert. My comments and opinions are just that and nothing more. I have a practical, common sense approach and believe in being prepared for whatever may come my way, both in the gear I have and in my own mindset.

I'd like this channel to be a place where people feel comfortable to make comments, exchange ideas and opinions, and get involved. For this to happen requires people to think before they type, and to be polite and respectful of others and their views.

Best wishes from Australia!

Does anyone happen to know about the import taxes on folding knives? Ive had a bunch of knives sent by a friend from USA to Australia... The total of the knives were over $1000aud but I didnt have to pay any extra taxes when they got here... I have heard that there is a $1000aud tax thresh hold which will cost 10% when passed... has anyone else had any experience with this? I even had DHL Australia email me requesting receipts before they sent the knives to me... even after verifying I was not asked to pay anything... was I lucky?

its 2024 now... Ive recently had a bunch of MANUAL locking folding knives sent from USA and China.... i think rules have changed now.... There are a whole bunch of Australian websites that sell folding knives legally... Ive even seen a Reate Exo gravity knife ( which is considered very illegal ) sold on an Aussie website..and also from Europen websites that send it here successfully...

Nice video thanks. I watch a lot of these videos on KZread about SAKs and multi tools. Next size up I believe is the Swiss Champ and there is also a Cyber knife tool that has more tools. It is interesting every video I have seen like this, the presenter has nicked themselves with the knife. Just bought one of these Rangers for my collection. The hook is also known as the parcel carrier, is supposed to be useful for tightening bicycle spokes and lifting hot Billie style lid handles. The chisel would make a good pry bar. Agree with the nail groove on the awl. Victorinox should change the location of that on all of their knives that have an awl.

Lets be 100% honest here.. Unless you have a reasonable reason for carrying a knife you shouldn't be carrying one... I'm not talking swiss army knives..but why would anyone carry a knife to the royal easter show etc... I have no issue the cops being able to search anyone if they are in belief the dude is carrying..... heck i have enough to make rambo jealous.. but i wouldn;t dream of carrying it down the high street

Knifemaking is a fairly easy skill to hone. Back in the 60's, dad made knives from heavy duty hacksaw blades with lead filled copper tubing for handles. They were works of art. The laws are sad but fair enough to disarm the kids. While they're at it a ban on pschotropic drugs might be a good idea. ☕️😎🦘

I had the same notice attempting to bring in a toy NERF gun. When I called and explained I could buy it from Kmart down the road for twice the price they simply said “this is considered a firearm and if I attempt to retrieve the item it will be treated as such”. What a joke

had to find this my fanny pack has excess strap, but it has an elastic band to hold them. So used your technic, and folded the excess and held it down with the elastic band and now it is neatly folded away, instead of loosely holding the strap unfolded.

Well done! We should have no fear in personalizing our things. You’ve inspired me to attack my BK-2! Love the knife, but the paint scars up and ruins the look. I also have the Becker Kephart and use it frequently as an all-around camp knife. The more I use it, the more character it develops. Love the rugged cutlery!

"That's not a Kbar Bk2" Actually it is a KA-BAR Becker BK-2, just as the video title says. The brand and model stampings on the blade can be seen clearly throughout the video. It is one of the early models which did not have the handle cut outs. Maybe a little research before making such a sweeping and definitive statement? You noticed the video was made 11 years ago right?

The knife sharpener arrived quickly and in good condition kzread.infoUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ I was happy to see that that packaging was easy to open. I did not need a chain saw to get into the package. The sharpener was smaller than I expected but that might turn out to be and advantage because it will be much easier to store than my old sharpener. The instructions on the package were simple and concise; perfectly adequate for this product. I liked that the two slots were labeled with "Course" and "Fine" on both sides of the sharpener. Now, how does it work? It's fantastic. A few swipes of the knife through the two slots and the knife was sharper than when it was new. The rubber surface on the bottom held it in place while sharpening. I thought the small size might be a problem but it was not a problem at all. In fact, I prefer it to the larger sharpeners I have used in the past. On top of that, the small size makes it very easy to store.I love it and highly recommend it.

If you are really cheap like me, use zip ties or wire ties (like from a loaf of bread or cable management ) you can just roll them up inside the strap, roll them over then tighten them.

I would dare to make these modifications when the coating is very deteriorated due to use, also for no reason would I file the spine or spine for use with the ferrocerium, I would use a lamella that came with the ferrocerium or the same spine of the knife. without the epoxy personal opinion excellent video regards
