Nice Rifle i like the Krag but. i had one Question how save is the Bolt Action. i mean the most bolt action have 2-6 Locking loks and the Krag have one Locking lok.
@Brzeczyszczykiewicz19 жыл бұрын
Hobbitschütze The rifle is safe, but of course you can't have hot loads in it by any means. Therefore there's loads being made for the rifle called 6,5 KRAG, with reduced pressure and velocity, so it wont blow up in your face :) I'd like to mention that the krag was used with the same loads as the 6,5 MAUSER for many years with no problems, but after some years they discovered the action became weakened, so just in case they lowered the pressure
@tomp71418 жыл бұрын
+Hobbitschütze The Norwegian Krags were designed to have two locking lugs. One lug is at the front of the bolt and one is where the bolt guide rib abuts the receiver bridge. US Krags have only the single front locking lug. The bolt guide rib does not contact the receiver ring but only acts as a safety lug. For this reason, the Norwegian Krags are stronger than their US counterparts.

Damn! That bolt moved like a British Enfield's. I own a 30-06 Mauser myself, not a K98k though, since it had a VZ-24 stock, and it's a straight bolt instead of a turn bolt. Haven't fired it yet, but still a nice gun.

3ducs You're lucky to have that oppurtunity. We aren't so lucky, and it's almost impossible for us to own a semi auto weapon. I'd love to get my hands on the m1 garand or carbine, and even an ar15 in that matters. I just have to stick with this for now. I also have a k98k in 3006.

Nice rifle. My dad used to compete in high power rifle competitions in Norway during the 1950's with a rifle just like yours. I imported it to the US about 10 years ago and I enjoy shooting it every once in awhile. A lot of history in those guns and it is good to see that you still take yours out. When I imported it my uncle just wanted to send it in the mail but I was able convince him that that would not be very legal :) Thanks for sharing.

This old krags are also still legal to use in competitions here in Norway, They where one of the most common target rifle in use up until 1990 when thet Sauer 200 STS(scandinavian Target Rifle came) Just be aware that the krag cant handle to hot loads!!

Thanks Ivar. I was out shooting my Krag today and with my handload's I can get MOA accuracy. My loads are not hot at all but they are still accurate. :)

A krag wont stand to hot loads. it is not always hot ammo that is the most accurate. I load my target ammo way under saami specs for krags, and I have a modern target rifle. There are still loads of tihese rifles for sale on the second hand market in Norway. The rifle in ise today is the sig sauer 200 STR(scandinavian target rifle in 6,5 55

Ammunition recommended in use for all Norwegian Krag-Jørgensens is ammo usually that contains 144gr. bullet at around 770 m/s (max 40 600 psi). Personally, I use a 100gr bullet hollow point at approx. 800 m/s for safety, or ammunition specially made for the Krag rifle.

How easy is it to own a gun in Norway?
@ToeJuice4 жыл бұрын
I know that some things may have changed since you commented this, but in Norway, to be able to own a firearm. You need to be an active member of a shooting team or club, or you have to be a hunter, and whenever you want to purchase a new gun, you need to contact the police and give them a reason for you to own it. You can own upto 8 guns here.
