Hi! Cool job and good advices! I was wondering, the part with the big letters, to avoid voltage drop, for the others letters I guess you also did it in pairs but in terms of connection, did you kept each of those lines separated and connected directly to the power supply or did you do a series circuit between them? If not the case could you illustrate please? Thank you , I’m learning to make neon signs and had that voltage drop problem recently so saw the opportunity 😊😅
Hi! For letters using more than 3m of neon, we connect directly to the power supply to avoid voltage drop and keep the power cable as short as possible, ideally 1m max. Hope that helps!
The best video I've seen about neon signs so far... i don't think i need to watch another
Thanks for your kind feedback!!
Where do you get your supplies?
You can find them on our website, www.ledsignsandlighting.co.uk
How deep did you made those grooves for led neon?
We used a 5mm acrylic and the channel is around 3 - 3.5mm.
Which font you used?
how are you getting the design cut out onto the acrylic ?
Neon signs are made with gas, this is an LED
Police d'écriture ?
We made this font.
I'm glad I found your video and channel. Looking for instructions to do these signs myself to hang from inside my shop behind clear glass windows. Cheers!
Thank you! Glad it's been helpful 😄
I'm finding soldering and keeping the joint tidy, extremely difficult. Is there an alternative to making that electronic connection (can I just superglue it for instance?)
Use a scalpel carefully slit open the silicon skin and lift out the PCB to do the soldering, Mitre Bond it back together afterward. We also have the 2 parts system which you may find it easier to do. Hope this help.
Refreshing to see a video of someone who actually knows how to do the task and who can explain it as well. So many of these videos are produced by those who are neither. Thank you sir.
Thanks for the kind feedback, Sam. We appreciate that!
Is this available in shopee
Who is the manufacturer of this 'Free Form LED Neon' that you are using? I like that it stays to the form you bend it to. Great video!
Hi! You can purchase from our website, ledsignsandlighting.co.uk. We ship worldwide!
😮
Thanks you so much
Can I pay you to make one for me?
Wonder what size the groove is? exactly 6mm or 6.5mm/7mm?
Hi - we use our CNC cutter for the winged neon, which is approximately 7.5mm.
Great , thanks , because of you , it will be endless night without sleepeing :-)
😆
Great tutorial! Thank you for sharing. However, I am having a hard time finding the thin jumper wires. Could you tell me where to find them in the US, or what I should be searching for?
Good work
gostei muito.
Obrigado!
If you have something like this how do you fix it if it stops working ?
Hi, it's hard to say without seeing the damage. If the whole sign isn't working, test or replace the power supply. If part of it isn't working, test your connections. If you send some images to [email protected] we can advise further. Thank you
I'm trying to find the part one video, but the one linked is just a totally different project. I need to know the CNC side :)
Hi Dan, part one is showing you how to install the LED neon flex onto a flat back panel with no routered channel. We don't have a video on CNC cutting, sorry!
@@Spectron Thank you for the reply! The thing I need to know the most is, how deep of a channel would I need for the LED neon flex to fit into? I'm looking to get RGB, and then LOTS of colors of Neon Flex, very soon. Do you work with US hobbyists? Is your lighting too expensive for hobbyist sign makers?
@@Spectron I'd actually love to talk to someone on the phone. Do you have a support/sales line i could contact someone?
@@user-ui5os1uj1v No problem! So it depends on the thickness of your acrylic and partly personal preference. We use a 5mm thick acrylic and the channel is 3.5mm deep. You could use a 10mm acrylic with a channel about 7mm. Basically, you want to maintain the integrity of the acrylic and see the top surface of the neon! We do sell to lots of hobbyists worldwide. The shipping to the US from UK is from £28 and the neon is £36 for 5 metres. Feel free to call us on +44161 236 8828 for more info!
beautiful sign Excuse me, can you tell me what the font is?
Hi, thanks! We made this font in-house 😄
Where would I buy the Leds from in the US?
We ship to the US from our website www.ledsignsandlighting.co.uk/index.php?route=common/home
Ottimo video potrei avere il link per comprare il neon led grazie
This is so beautiful. subbed, liked, and definitely checking out more of your stuff
Thank you for your kind comments.
Does anyone know how thick the acrylic should be and how deep a channel is best to cut?
Hi, we use a 5mm thick acrylic with a 3.5mm deep channel. You can use thicker acrylic and a deep channel if you prefer and budget for the sign allows.
@@Spectronis 4mm possible or would you say 5mm minimum? And thanks for the reply!
What is the acrylic that you use. Also can you share a video of cnc cutting acrylic, what tools to use to cut acrylic and other details. It will be very helpful. Thanks a lot.
Hi, it's 5mm clear acrylic. We use a CNC machine with our CNC cutter for winged neon flex. We do a first pass with a standard cutter first, to clear away a majority of the material in the channel, before using our winged cutter. This preserves the winged blades. We generally cut to a depth of 3.5mm when using a 5mm panel. If using a 10mm panel we will cut to a depth of maybe 6mm. Hope that helps!
I missed the power consumption or voltage requirement if any. What's too much a 9 volt, 12 volt? Is a USB 5 volt enough?
LED is not neon!
How do you get the stencil on the acrylic board?
You can create a scale drawing (we use adobe illustrator), print it and attach it to your panel.
hi This is a great video, can you advise where i can get the acrylic panel with paper template from.
Hi, thanks! If you're in the UK, you could try searching for plastic and acrylic fabrication near you. They should be able to help.
This is so good, thanks v much.
Thanks Sam 😄
Great job
Hello, thanks for the video and the information! I was a bit confused about this product but your summary about its history helped me 😅. Quick question, where do you buy your free form neon flex? I’m looking for it in Chinese stores (AliExpress, Temu) but i haven’t found the specific “free-form” version of it.
Hello David, you can purchase this online here www.ledsignsandlighting.co.uk/leds/led-neon-flex/8mm-freeform or email us at [email protected]. Thanks!
I have never used these led strip which look like led strips, that's all I can say about it, sure the colors look great in the evening, but real neon has a glow that can't be imitated. That said these are probably cheap chinese products which use cheap materials, unsuable to work with. If I was to think of a product that would resemble neon it would definately be round. and it would come in two parts a guide which can be used to guide the round led strip and a clamp the strip as well, a lesser tedious process. also in addition to the roundness of the tube there should be a few end pieces that could be soldered on the end of the tubes, so it looks like writing, or pulled effect, such as reall neon has. Let me say that cheap products do not pay off in the end, people want good stuff!
Hello Ron Moes, We appreciate your candid feedback regarding our neon flex product in our recent KZread video. Your insights are incredibly valuable to us, as we are always working to enhance our offerings based on customer input. We're glad to hear that you find the colours of our product appealing, particularly in the evening setting. You've made a notable observation about the distinctions between our LED neon flex and traditional neon signs. While our LED neon flex aims to replicate the iconic glow of traditional neon, we understand that it may not capture every nuance of the classic signage. Your perspective sheds light on the unique qualities of traditional neon that are hard to replicate. Addressing your concerns about product quality, we'd like to assure you that we prioritise the use of high-quality materials in our neon flex products. Durability and long-lasting performance are pivotal considerations for us, especially within the professional realm of sign making. This product comes with a 3 year warranty as standard. Your concept of a round LED strip product accompanied by guides and clamps is intriguing and practical. We do offer another product called Acryneon® which more closely resembles glass neon in that it can be fully round. Two pieces of acrylic are milled to shape and embedded with LEDs. Examples and spec can be viewed in our online catalogue here: books.w2060.cn/2023/557/ (from page 13). Its versatility and style range contribute to a diverse set of choices for sign makers and it is generally used in commercial settings. Your emphasis on investing in quality resonates with us, and we're dedicated to providing sign makers with products that are not only visually appealing but also built to withstand the test of time. Should you have any additional suggestions, questions, or comments, we encourage you to reach out to us directly. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue our pursuit of excellence in product development and customer satisfaction. We extend our gratitude for taking the time to express your thoughts and insights. We eagerly anticipate further opportunities to refine our products based on feedback from respected voices such as yours. Best regards, Spectron LED
good work
Hi, thank you for the video. Does it matter if we use type A or type B plug for the led neon signs?
Hi, our Winged Neon Flex is 12v so any 12v driver or plug in adaptor is fine as long as the watts are matching the total watts you use per metre of neon flex. I would recommend a constant voltage driver to power any neon flex.www.ledsignsandlighting.co.uk/accessories/led-drivers
Hi what type of glue you use?
We use UNIKA's Mitre Bond a two part adhesive with a activator pen that accelerates curing to bond instantly. Can be found here www.ledsignsandlighting.co.uk/accessories/neon-flex-accessories/mitrebond-single
If you're not trying to make a double outline sign, just single line characters, you would create the center line like in the video with a 6mm stroke and then export to cad/cam software for milling?
Best video on LED neon by far. Thank you!!!
Thanks, Katy!!
You could finish it with one cut
WHATS THE NAME OF MACHIN WHO MADE OPEN BOARD ?
It's a CNC machine
Explications trés précises et claires. Merci pour le tuto👍
Merci.
Please show how make the design in Adobe illustration
Click on Spectron LED and there is a video of how to create a CNC file in Illustrator.
Very educational, please make more videos on the following steps
Thank you for your kind words.
Why not use a glue gun instead of two-component glue? Especially for attaching wires to the back of the sign.
Flatter neater clear finish.
Great video. Thank you. Question though. Is there anywhere that sell the pre groved backs already made so I can just finish it up or is there someone that does this sort of thing to order?
Hi you could purchase the CNC router bit and then anyone in your local area with a CNC machine could produce the back panel for you. Spec available here www.ledsignsandlighting.co.uk/accessories/tools/CNC-Cutter
Hello there!! what model of the machine do you use to cut the acrylic or what machine for starting do you recomend? Im new on this. Thanks!
