Thank you for taking the time to do this. I am mescalero and lipan, not chiricahua, but this still means alot being Apache. You are part of the reconstruction of our people, and im grateful.

Ball courts mean these are indeed Mesoamericans, the Dine say these Anasazi tribes were cannibals and slavers.

how do you dry the wood out before carving your bow? I've been making bows since i was a kid and i've never dried it properly

His given name was Goyahkla (“The One Who Yawns”). The Mexicans gave him the name Geronimo which has no consensus as to how it was given.

after going through all that effort, why ruin the authenticity of the bow by using acrylic? I would have really liked to see it as they used to look like. No matter how you approximate the color, you won't get the actual look of the true bow without using the same materials. Still, it looks really beautiful.

I have to wonder why they used such a convoluted method... it seems rather instinctual for me to use three finger draw.. or even two finger. When i was a kid and made toy bows out of the ribs of coconut leaves, I used to hold the string by simply pinching it, so I can see how this might have caught on to use in actual bows. but using a strange thumb draw like this is really baffling, especially since they were doing it without a thumb ring. If the bow is light, it won't be too bad. But if its a 50lb bow or higher, no matter how strong you are, that is going to hurt after a while. All that draw weight is going to be on your thumb joint.

That was very interesting. Watching the style of snap shooting, I am amazed the intended target can be hit. I've seen a few other examples of AmerInd style shooting, so I knew they shot mostly from almost the waist and very short arrows. I think the chronograph results were far too inconsistent which further amazes me anything can be hit. Very fascinating.

I got a question, so ive seen some people from other countries actually eat the cactus itself, they turn it into a stew. The ones they cooked were probably around 7-8in. In width and they tossed it into a wok. I have a couple of them that are about 11in. And i want to cook one of them and try it, have you ever heard of this? If so advise or recipes would be greatly appreciated

Like the video, never new the name of the trap, but but I have used it since I was a kid, but I always put a very fine bait stick like like a toothpick in the upright or under it to stop the animals from walking out from under the the stone, and it works great, you should give it a try.

Pretty cool thinking about how some human realized you could make a longer double ended atlatl and connect the ends with cordage to launch a smaller dart.

Mesoamericans did not sacrifice humans. Hardly any civilization did. It is a propaganda myth as old as the world, propagated by the conqueror to justify his conquest.

I like your video and have always loved the history of the native Americans. My Mother was a nurse at the Pine Ridge hospital. She started in 1948. One f her patience for 6-8 months was Nickolas Black Elk. He was at the Battle of Little Bighorn.

When do the pine nuts typically come on for harvest? I have heard it’s generally every other year, but some people say years that end in odd numbers and others say even. It looked like in September last year the cones were already emptied out by the birds. But we did have strange weather in NV so maybe it affected the season.
