Andreas Dormann
is a film & media composer in Bonn, Germany. He started his early musical career as a solo entertainer (keyboard, guitar & vocals). As teenager he led his own band and choir. His other professional activities as a software and app developer, photographer, video producer and book author are creative and diversified and allow him many perspectives on his greatest passion: composing film music. Andreas is always looking for exciting melodies and styles to give movies their "maximum musical magic".

Spitfire Audio's Labs are totally free with just over 50 excellent libraries. Superb quality. All you need is install their free library manager.
Nice one, short and sweet and to the point.
Glad you liked it!
Cool stuff, thanks for sharing. Waiting for the nexts episodes 👍
Thanks for watching! 👍
Free Kontakt instruments have to be Kontakt Player compatible or they open in demo mode, making the sound stop completely after 30 minutes. You're not gonna find Kontakt Player compatible libraries outside of companies doing it because you have to pay Native Instruments to have your library be Player compatible.
I definitely know that ProjectSAMs Free Orchestras are working with the free Kontakt Player. Do you have issues with the "Odd Flutes"? I'll check this. I'm sure, together we'll find a suitable solution/alternative...
@@AndreasDormannMusic ProjectSAM works because it's Kontakt Player compatible. Free libraries made by regular users with the full version of Kontakt only work in the full version of Kontakt. I mean, They will open in Kontakt Player but in demo mode, meaning they only produce sound for 15 minutes.
@@BrunodeSouzaLinoYou are right. My suggestion for this piece: Go to www.pianobook.co.uk/ and find a flute sound that is compatible to DecentSampler (DS). You can download DS for free from here: www.decentsamples.com/product/decent-sampler-plugin/ I will use this plugin in my next episode.
Fantastisches Video!
Dankeschön! 😊
@@AndreasDormannMusic Immer gerne. Mach's gut.
1:07 That's how Germans, and most of us Europeans signal the number 3. Learn that to avoid getting killed like in Tarantino's movies
Thx for your live-saving hint, my friend! 😂 I remember this deadly scene... Maybe "How to survive as musician" could become another tutorial. 😉
@@AndreasDormannMusic True. Yup, that'd be cool. Well, they died but at least they enjoyed their beers.
Awesome track, Andreas! Good luck to you 🙂
The only downside of this is that I can hear so clearly when Project Sam instruments are used. I mean the odd ones. Strings and horn are fine.
Thx for this point, Jens! Maybe it would be interesting to show, how to give them your own signature.
Amazing idea, that series really sounds interesting. Will watch it for sure
Thx, my friend & thx for this contest. Just in time for starting my series with the enchanting visuals by Marika!
Great track, so much emotion and mood from the very beginning! And it's great that you made it with these free instruments. I also built mine on some of ProjectSAM's TFO patches, but I added a different harp and some ideophones. Good luck!
The Project SAM Free Orchestras are absolutely building into a very versatile toolkit! Fracture Sounds Blueprint series and the Heavocity Foundations series (which sadly they seem to have neglected recently) are also great collections of free instruments. I also used the first release in Westwood's free Roots series in my entry into the Whispers of Lumina competition, the cello provided a really meaty low drone for the forest scenes! As you say Andreas, great times to be composing music!
Thx, David! I added your libraries to my list for this series. Maybe they‘ll make it into one of the next eposides…
Dream to compose for animation show like bluey
Well, stay tuned!
Fantastic guide, Andreas. Very nice ways for beginners to try some things out.
Thx, my friend!
really like the dramatic & dark turn this one takes!
Thank you!
Amazing track! And listen to those free instruments by ProjectSAM...😍
Thx, my friend! 😎 Yes, the instruments are amazing. And there will be a new free one for The Free Orchestra 2 in a few days…
Hi Andreas, we had a similar idea for the beginning, with the Project SAM harp! I particularly like the brass and percussion parts towards the end, and the build then cut-back to the harp. Well done! Best, David.
Thx, David. I'll listen to yours now.
sehr schön geworden!
Danke Dir!
Das war voll traumhaft und schön mit der richtige Dunkelheit ;)
Danke Dir! Machst Du auch mit?
Love the vibe of this video. 😎
Thank you! ☀️
Chilliger, entspannter Sound zum Relaxen. Und das Video passt perfekt zur Musik. Total schön.
Danke Dir für dein nettes Feedback, lieber Peti! 😎

Eine Stadt neben Mainz hahahhaa. Ja, ich war dort (Mainz und Wiesbaden) in 1995, beide wirklich sehr sehr schön.

😏
Congrats to all the winners and thanks to everyone that participated! Really lots of good scores
Hello everybody! I’m happy that the first mugs 🍵🍵🍵 arrived at our winners… more on that later… 😎
@@AndreasDormannMusic That is good news 😍
Oh this is really good. I wish I could have a better sense for what works with a picture like this. I think this is the one neglected area of learning available to new media composers today. Great job and I know you have years of experience.
Many thanks!
Awesome score Andreas, really like the transition from happy to horror and the piano is used so well, especially as we build towards the end. Excellent work.
Thx for your kind feedback!
Schockohase mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmh... lecker! Hahaha!
Absolut! Beim Weihnachtsinterview wird der eingeschmolzen... zum Schokolaus 🎅
@@AndreasDormannMusic 🤗
Ich mag es. Super groovy, dann total dramatisch und unheimlich. Das Finale mit dem Klavier... toll!
Danke Dir!
That score is really amazing! Has it all, the perfect Mood change, the surprise, great balance between Music and Sound design and gorgeous storytelling. You won this battle for sure my friend!
Thx a lot, Martin! Of course it was a purely musical battle. I'm glad we're still friends! 😊
Great!!! and the ending is incredible. A superb development. Well done👏👏
Thank you so much, Moria!
Made me smile a lot with the happy start, then when the Rachmaninoff piano hits for the end... 😁 to 😱 Well done!
Thank you so much, Kade! The great thing about our Zoom meeting last night was being able to see your reactions as you listened. And I HAVE seen your big smile. 😎
The tension and suspense in this music is incredible!
Thank you, Eman!
Wow, amazing film scoring for a thriller movie by Hanno Friedrich!
Thx, Elena! BTW: I should ask Hanno how HE likes it... 😉
Verry fantastic series 👍, i enjoy it. May i ask which music Programm you use? It looks so clean
Thx for your kindly feedback! Do you mean my notation software? That‘s Sibelius by Avid.
😮.....woooooo
