    @Steve-rr3gc The river is open July 15 of every year. From July 15 until the end of July, there is pink salmon in the river. Silver salmon is not really in the river until the beginning of August.

    If you want to snag red salmon in Seward, the best time is the first and second week of June. For russian River Red Salmon, the best time is the middle of the second week of June and the third week of June.

    Brings back so many great memories from growing up in the seventies with grandparents who lived in Kenai. I also went to school there one winter in junior high. I would love to go back one day. The worst part about Alaska is the mosquitos. The beauty makes up for that easily!

    Those are spawn out salmon and the fish are not good to eat.

    Those fish are call salmon and every years these salmon will swim back to the river where they were born to spawn. After the salmon spawning they'll die.

    @Pchi427 The wild one are spawned by themselves, but these are hatchery fish, so even if they haven't respawn, the fish still die. Also, the hatchery fish need people to help spawn because they can't respawn by themselves

    @@REELAlaskanFishing You should try and you might like it. I started salmon fishing with flossing because bobber and eggs or vibrax is not easy for beginner. Unless you got really good salmon eggs cure. Flossing look easy but it's the hardest because in order to hook the fish by it mouth you got to be really good at flossing. I had mastered the flossing fishing technique. Now I move on to bobber and eggs/vibrax fishing. I still learn how to jig for salmon. I am a fisher man and I need to master all the fishing technique. Legit fly fishing it's classic and that for older peoples. I'll master that too but not now.

    Float fishing with centerpin reel there would be amazing. Long rod helps alot controlling big salmon
