Excellent footage. There were no phones when I saw U2 in '83 at the L.A. Sports Arena. I will never forget it was one show and I bought the tix on site at the show...and it wasn't a SOLD OUT show! There were no video, et., just four young mates laying the groundwork for epic shows. This show was legendary as Bono climbed one side of the stage apparatus. I remember the show like it was yesterday. The Alarm opened the show and shortly after their set ended my buddy and I noticed they were standing behind us on the floor so we chatted with them for a bit. I still have the sweatshirt I bought at the show.

I think Edge had an equipment malfunction as he missed his intro cue by about 12 bars. I remember it being a slightly delayed and then abrupt start on the night and the video confirms it. What a brilliant concert it was. Had the best night.

My first U2 concert was in 1985 at the UIC in Chicago in support of "The Unforgettable Fire".....next time around was for 3 shows in 1987 for "The Joshua Tree". U2 in the 80's was mystical, magical and a downright religious experience. Those who were around to see them 3 decades ago know what I'm talking about. There were no glitz ....no glamour.....no pretentious, unnecessary 360 spaceships.....just 4 lads and hard edged Rock & Roll. Although not a fan of Pop Mart & 360.....ZOO TV was stunning. IMO, this was U2 at their peak.
