I was looking at something recently and thinking that an assumption of a gamma distribution would be good. Then I thought but it won’t be exactly gamma, and in fact could be quite different, although the property that the variance is proportional to the mean squared. Easy, just use the bootstrap.

Wonderful interview & many congrats, Professor Kanade, for winning the award. Quite well deserved for such great work over many years in the fields of robotics and computer vision.
7:03 wish the dumb mofos in Indian colleges and schools listened to your words about not forcing "rote learning".
lmao this was in 2017, his predictions of 50 years have turned so wrong, cause GPT's have already made poetry and even the subtle elements of it possible.
The best human being I have ever had the privilege to know.

Thanks for the valuable insights into tools and examples that give hope! and congratulations for this award and the outstanding work of Mongobay!
Interesting stuff - thanks 👍👍
13 symphony by Philip Glass is Real Masterpiece.
Philip Glass is one of the Greatest Composer in history of Music.
Congratulations!!
Very insightful, I'd love to study with Dr. Shelley Taylor. Particularly her work on "tend and befriend" and with the mental & physical health connection.
This guy is the Einstein of our time
Thank you for your natural curiosity!!❤❤
I work neuro fuzzy ai applied to humanities. Whenever Im stuck on something I come to youtube to draw inspiration from the great Zadeh. A technological god among men and women.
Thanks for sharing this interview. I was watching Anne L’Huillier's 2023 Nobel Prize lecture in physics this morning in which she acknowledges the works of Paul Corkum and others in the slide - Progress in understanding: Strong field atomic physics - The three-step model.
如果有中文翻译就更完美了❤
Encryption is another huge example of the fruit from basic research in maths. Without encryption, we would not have online banking, etc!
Good talk. I doubt they teach the love of mankind in Israel though. Rather the opposite.
😳🧐
This guy had so much time and came up with this crap? Do us a favor, shut your mouth, and let the poison you have concocted dissipate and live your life in silence. Watch while others do, while you sat and will sit and watch when action is taken instead of musing about it.
Kate Bush? Quite right.
Ms. Kulbert, I’m ten years older at seventy-one. The story ‘Talk To Me’ is very pleasurable reading because the work is exceptionally well done. My dear English teachers from Marysville High School would give it many thumbs up not only because what I’ve mentioned but also for it being a beautiful and tender outlook of the world to come. For as long as I can remember the term analogue has been a pistol for me to understand. “But what are the whales chattering about? How deep to go, or who should mind the calves or something that has no analogue in human experience,” totally brings meaning to it. Thank you very much for so much of what I truly value.
Thinks
hope to talk to him one day ❤
Insightful!!
Insightful!!
A revolutionary
That's not Peter Howitt
Congrats John, and Best Wishes on the follow up work.
Pity people dont watch this but rush to know what celebrities are up to. Typical human ignorance. 😢
A famous American comedian whose name l can't remember ( died several years ago) said the exact same thing its not save the planet but save ourselves that we should be concerned about , the planet will do just fine, we, humans are the ones in big trouble, to say the least. Greetings from Canary islands
Wow, what is in store for us, humans, doesnt sound pretty good
Steven Pinker, monarchist apologist, Epstein passenger, Rightoid Neoliberal Cancer
My name is Rashid too, :) , great presentation thank you for posting the video

Lovely interview with a great talent!
When some claims are labeled as "scientific" by mainstream authorities, it does not mean all the people in the world should accept them as they are. It should be possible to criticize. On the other hand, science is not static. Many theories in science or common beliefs were later proven to be false. Also the claims should be falsifiable. As a last point, the disciplines such as Mathematics and Physics are highly scientific but we cannot say the same about the field of medicine.
Singer is one of the great moral reformers of our time. It deeply saddens me that some people believe his concern for animal well-being somehow indicates a lack of concern for human well-being. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Wow he has a really nice speaking voice. I could definitely see myself listening to him read the contents of a phone book aloud and enjoy every minute of it. Lol
Maybe it will sound better than his ‘music’ …
And one more time for the uneducated yanks...it is pronounced "boss" (and means Bush) , the ch in Bosch is NOT pronounced... Don't be a yank don't do the Deja vous thing, the Wincent fan Co thing, do your home work. PLEASE!
The goal of "maximizing human well-being" is not in any way a rational aim; it's sheerly moral. And Pinker has no basis for his insistent moralism.
Look at this man on that age he was still working and contributing to the science. He is definitely an example, a very good model to any human kind specially to younger generations. I am so proud of you. RIP.
Sorry, but i have to call this out. This academic guy who basically spent his whole life in the safety of a fancy tenured professorship job and basically "started" "his" companies on the backs of the true founders who actually risked everything while this guy made a name for himself by marketing the hard work of his students and entreprenuers who actually did the real work. This type of award is an insult to the actual people who did the real hard work and took the actual risks in their careers to bring the innovation to market. Writing a paper, publishing a book, is SUPER DUPER easy compared to ACTUALLY building a product that WORKS and then builing a BUSINESS that is profitable. Sorry, but he did none of those things if you actually investigate how Cadence and Synopsys were grown. Plenty of these so called academics around and they are only good at writing papers, giving talks and going to big parties where everyone treats them like they are gods. Pathetic. I say, get to hell with these dumb awards and let the market reward the true winners.
Understood
Very good talk
thanks demis
This is interesting. I wonder if he's found a way to measure the disbursement amount of Carbon during reverse photosynthesis, and also if the released energy can be captured and stored.
