Colbert is as dependent on friendly smoke as Austin. And like you said in your Colbert review, Austin is also a ship you expect nothing from - pick it, go into battle, shrug if deleted soon, be amazed if you get a monstergame, laugh at every good use of reload booster (the target will not be laughing).

the current implementation just makes subs weaker DDs. There is no reason to play sub over DD, they are straight up worse.

Yuro crusades against secondary battleship but as an expert of the game he should know they are the most painful ships to play unless it's ranked or brawl gamemodes, particularly high tiers where everyone camps at range and where 20 inch guns or HE/SAP rule (what is armor anyway). Good luck getting those secondaries to work when you're spotted 1km outside of the spawn location and get melted without effort as you try to sail to a brawling area. About Amagi, Kii is so much worse despite being a later development it's ridiculous. Worse reload speed, less concealment, worse sigma, no additional torpedo belt, oh but it gets torpedoes with lousy range, very useful on a battleship that is not meant to brawl.
