I had a problem with opiates. I haven't done any recreational drugs since late 2017. I was 95% clean during 2016. I didn't know how to be sober tho. I struggled. I had acquainted myself with the needle. Oh man, that's the worst. During my 1st bout with getting clean, I went to a clinic. It was a small team trying to help many people. They had 6 locations spread out through the state. I'm in the USA. Anyways, the DEA arrested all of the doctors and staff members. I went to fill my prescription and the pharmacist told me they couldn't fill it. I was doing good, and I was decreasing my dose (suboxone). I was within 6 months of being done with it. Then, all of a sudden, I can't fill my meds. There were 1,600 other people in the same boat. I had a full-time job and a child to provide for. I did hard but skilled labor at the time. I couldn't go to work while experiencing withdrawals. I couldn't. Shaking from withdrawals while climbing the ladder on a 120 ft. grain elevator wasn't going to work. So I went to the street. I had to keep myself well. Well enough to work anyway. Eventually, the DEA dropped all of the charges against all of the doctors and nurses at the clinic. But not before they pulled the rug out from under 1,600 people. Every clinic in the state was flooded by this sudden influx of people who needed help. I went to the street until I could find a treatment center. That short time on the street sent me backwards. I personally believe it set me back by several years. I was close to being done but using again just strengthened my addiction. I look back at it and think l, "I was almost done. I was so close. I wouldn't be going to a treatment center now if that hadn't happened." Anyways, that's my story. I'm glad you're ok bub. I hope all is well for you and your loved ones.
