    1:59 please don't tell people to play phasmo if you're gonna recommend ghost games, It is so outdated and not innovative compared to other ghost hunting games. The only reason it's so popular is cuz it was the first one. You should try out ghost Exile or demonologist or even forewarned

    Love your video and description, but is it any different or better then medieval dynasty?

  • @dadtries
    @dadtries26 күн бұрын

    Thanks for the comment! I can't quite make an opinion as to if Bellwright is /better/ than Medieval Dynasty, because I haven't played Medieval Dynasty, unfortunately. I did some homework on Medieval Dynasty (watched a couple videos on it) and I'd say that the major difference is the idea that the player should be delegating in Bellwright. Doing tasks manually is tedious, so you're encouraged and rewarded by giving your "colonists" the right tools for the job and right priorities to ensure your division of labor is sufficient to sustain your population and growth. It's kind of a mix between Valheim and Rimworld. Medieval Dynasty, first of all, looks awesome. I'd say they're extremely similar. A big difference seems to be that in Medieval Dynasty, the player is just trying to continue their bloodline and facing a fear of a game over. My biggest fear in Bellwright is that the raiders are going to steal my smoked meat. Death is not a big deal in Bellwright... Curious to hear your take. Also, I did another quick video on Bellwright's progress if you're interested: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hZ-Hy5l_l67Sqqw.html

    The reviews are fair imho. The burden of proof is on the leadership to prove themselves based on past history, not the consumers to take their product in blind faith. If a restaurateur has a rep of having an establishment known for food poisoning, and opens a different one, the consumers are in the right call for caution, rather than protecting and apologizing for poor past behavior. Let's see.

  • @dadtries

    I do see what you're saying. But if the company is known for bad sushi so they give up and try a burger restaurant, I'm willing to give it an honest try - as long as they pass their health inspections, which, I suppose could be the equivalent of community reviews for this analogy. I appreciate the comment! Have you tried the game? They seem to be continuing with patching!

    Giving reviews solely based on bad customer service and buggy releases in the past isn't helpful. Anyone with half a brain will check an unfamiliar company's back catalog before buying. Anyone without half a brain won't bother reading the reviews. However, I am wary due to those past issues. This came out of nowhere with little hype at the same time as Medieval Dynasty (the closest genre rival, in my opinion) is releasing the Oxbow DLC expansion. I'm not sure that they (Donkey Crew) know how to market well. Regardless, the game looks good enough for early access. Thanks for the concise, short video to break down some of the issues and gameplay.

    Dayz is one of the most addicting survival games ever. The zombies are a bit jank but easy to fight without getting hit. Learn the blocking mechanics. On the loot, why would you just want tons of easy loot spread around? That would be incredibly boring. This game is one of the few that gets the heart racing because there are actually stakes to the survival. Epic PVP. I play on The Struggle Bus near vanilla server, and we have full pop every night.

  • @dadtries
    @dadtriesАй бұрын

    I know what you mean. A server that's full of loot would lack a challenge for sure! I'm referring to emptiness that, in some extremes, is a death sentence and you're doomed from spawn. There has been quite a few times (in my few hundred hours of play) that I've spawned as a Bambi near a remote town and it has been picked clean of resources. As someone whos familiar with the map, I can usually plot a course to the next locale, or maybe get lucky and find a chicken... For someone who's going to sit and play for 2-3 hours that could easily become the entire play session. Like you said, there are stakes to survival. But it's a hard game to recommend to my audience as it has a steep learning curve, road signs to navigate that are in a different language, and all your hard work can come to an end in an instant. DayZ is a pioneer in the survival crafting genre, but we can all agree, it's not without its issues. I love the game and wanted it to succeed but $45 for a hardcore type game with many issues and obstacles to overcome is a hard sell. With alllll that being said, I am absolutely going to pop on that server and try my hand! I really appreciate your comment and hope to meet your acquaintance in game! I'll be the starving Bambi in rags clinging to consciousness :)

  • @reasonwarrior
    @reasonwarriorАй бұрын

    @dadtries That's awesome. The server would love to have you. On the loot thing, the key is to get the heck off the coast fast. I loot the immediate area and then book it to nearest inland towns etc. It may leave me in red hunger but I nearly always find more food and survive that way. A lot of players ignore the mushrooms and fruit too. They can be abundant if players are near or if you've stayed in a place for a bit. I hear you on the price. I waited for a half off steam sale as that felt a bit more in line with where it should be.

  • @dadtries
    @dadtries3 ай бұрын

    I think it's fair, considering they're the same price and genre. Yes, Zomboid has been around forever and the only real content additions are mods. Apples to apples, if you've got $20 to spend on a zombie survival at the time of writing this, Zomboid offers more on my opinion. HumanitZ has the potential to be vastly better than Zomboid and I think it will be. It just needs some time. I haven't played it in a couple months but I'm eagerly looking forward to it's continued development.

  • @Wilksey75
    @Wilksey752 ай бұрын

    @@dadtries You cannot save in the middle of Tarkov and any extraction looter, you need to get back or lose gear, same here which is good otherwise too easy but at least there's an end goal to aim for, escaping, a tough game but very enjoyable and quite challenging which is what you want but boring! no way, some things could do with tweaking but you need to get further into it👍🏻

  • @dadtries
    @dadtries2 ай бұрын

    I fully understand that there are many genres that don't allow you to save mid-mission, but most of those games are multiplayer. As someone who is interrupted frequently during play, it's hard to recommend it to others who game with the same distractions. That's all. This channel is aimed at identifying games for people with busy lifestyles. Tarkov would also receive a very poor rating from me, despite the fact that it's a very well polished game that offers endless hours of fun (or rage). Maps take a long time to learn, if you die first you have to wait for the rest of your friends to finish up, etc. For me, I was hoping for more out of Pacific Drive. Less fast travel, more sense of being a nomad with a station wagon.

    Firstly sorry about the R key!!! It's binded to Ctrl+R by default but a nasty bug keeps making it self bind to just R. Think im gonna just make it so you have to hold R down for a certain amount of time before it restarts. Godot makes controller support VERY easy, but the nature of my game makes it a challenge to implement as there are a lot of keybinds for everything, and how my saving system works for your settings further complicates it. I tried to do controller support for v0.2.2 but its just really hard to make work for this game intuitively and functionally. I'll look into the lava flowing, fun fact this game used to have water but was scrapped and I did attempt to make it flow but there were difficulties with that. I think I know how I would go about doing it now since the game was ported from the LOVE framework to Godot halfway through development. Thank you for updating your review, you had no need to do that but you did anyway and I greatly appreciate that :) Also figured I mention I'm a girl btw lol
