The poly was semi-gloss*
Very beautiful! Although the black paint scared me a little at first ...
This is NOT a dresser, but a chest of drawers. A dresser is lower and wider. It often has a mirror attached or on the wall behind the piece. One can dress in front of it. Using the proper names for the furniture you are working on will help you communicate with prospective buyers.
What is the name of the top coat that was used?
If I could I would give you a thousand likes just for the butter knife! Every person should have a butter knife at their tool bench.😊
What a beauty! Awesome transformation.
That was sexy AF
I love art deco and this is beautiful!
Beautiful! Awesome work.
Beautiful!
What grit sandpaper?
No information on the kinds of cleaners, they’re using the grit of sandpaper they’re using no help whatsoever really
It looked better before you worked on it.
I love the woodgrain on top, what a cool table.
I was gifted a whole waterfall style bedroom set and some pieces have chipped veneer, what do you recommend to restore that?
Hi there! We found a veneer kit on Amazon that worked great, basically a collection of sample sheets in a variety of styles and colors so you can usually find something that matches! We did that in our video of a 1930s waterfall dresser restoration if you wanted to take a peek.
You say we like you are both working on the dresser. He’s doing the work and you need voice lessons. The last word of each sentence is dragged out. Annoying. Sorry but it’s true.
Hi Linda! Yes my use of the word "we" is a bit funny in this one haha force of habit I suppose, although my husband would argue he prefers it. He says we are united in everything, even when I'm too pregnant & sick to help like I was at this time. 😂 Voice overs are trickier than people realize, I think! But we all gotta start somewhere. Hopefully I'll get better with time.
GORGEOUS!!
I love it! It's stunning
simple and elegant, great job
Looks good. It would have been interesting to stain the wood darker on the places you painted black instead. However, the gold was a perfect art deco touch
The feet are “ Ball and Claw”. Beautiful piece!
Pity about that waterfall but all in all the paint across the middle made a nice contrast. Well done.
Help! I followed your steps but my Bebr white pickling stain is blotchy on my wood. When I wiped it off it was sticky and some areas wouldn’t wipe off. Do I just use 220 grit and sand and do a few more layers?
Absolutely gorgeous job!!! 😍😍😍
Beautiful guys
We had this exact tablet, we were told by the firniture store it waa sold oak, but after refinishing the top 3 times, it was a really good laminate with wood underneath.
Very beautiful.. great job 💕
I love all things Art Deco. This chest of drawers turned out great. I would have liked to see the Greek Key detail at the bottom of the dresser done in gold also. It gets lost.
I was looking for ideas for a pedestal table I just got for free ! I’m so excited to do thisss 😊
I have a piece very similar to this that was my grandparents! Thank you for sharing this! It gives me the courage to try and clean mine up and refinish it!
What are you using to clean? Looks like Fabreze?
Looks great! Question - when staining, how thick of a coat did you apply and did you apply the coat to the entire table or did you work in sections? Once the coat was on, how long did you wait before wiping the stain?
I had the same doubt . Did you wipe the whitewash stain off or let it remain ?
The correct term is of the “Ball and Claw” motif.
Hi, what finish did you use for the top cost? Is it gloss or satin?
I thought your table legs were lion paws.
What a restful and warm color combo 😊. It looked so lovely in your little angels room! I enjoy the way you keep the video's to a nice length!! My attention span wonders if it gets too repetitive 😉
I would have had a hard time letting this one go!! Beautiful! How disappointing that someone took such bad care of a high end piece that the finish was so damaged. You saved it and took it up a level in design. Good job!!
We tried our best! :) Thanks for watching
I love the big hardware on the embellishments!!!! Really lovely piece!
The top coat is clear? No stain colour?
Correct!
AMAZING COOL PEICE.
I can I can believe that that set sold within three weeks that is dirt cheap what you sold that for you could have got at least $1,000 for it with all the work you put into it and as nice as this you could have got at least $1,000 anyway I'm just saying
Just found your page this is gorgeous!!
Why are you in a dress?
Where did you source the veneer sample pack you used to repair the drawer? I have some art deco furniture that are sentimental to me passed on to me from my great aunt's. I want to restore them, but they need some repair to veneer. I love what you did with this piece, gives me ideas on how to restore my pieces!
No primer ?
Fortunately, no primer needed when using chalk paint of course you can use it if you want. It’s all personal choice, but you really don’t need it when using chalk paint.
Hi! I’ve been looking everywhere for this top coat and it doesn’t seem to be available anywhere. Do you have a link for where you purchased yours?
YESS Queen ! Beautiful work and beautiful women !
Very nice !!
U didn't show much of the whitewashing. Did u re-stain the wood after sanding or did you varnish it? You put white wash paint then wiped it after staining? Didn't quite catch what you did? Also can you eat on a table that's been whitewashed? Or must you seal it with clear lacquer or varnish?
Hi Laura, as stated in the video it is not white washing paint but actually a white washing stain by Behr :) it is sealed with a water-based polyurethane top coat for durability and is of course safe for eating on!
All products used are also in the description. Hope that helps!
It turned out beautiful, but I am worried because you didn't prime the laminate. Do you think it will hold up to use?
Hi Trudy, we didn't film the prep work for this one but the piece was thoroughly cleaned, scuff sanded, and treated with Fusions Ultra Grip! :)
@@beautyandthehandyman1099Phew! That info should be included for newbies.
@@trudyeby464 Haha yes, good point! Thanks for watching :)
