    I'm in USA , California , but you can get various Veitchii from carnivero as they ship international 👍, not sure of any other USA sellers 🤔 that ship to Canada. I know there are some k x Bario squat at carnivero, but Veitchii " M " from EP tend to match that type of you need a specific grex. The K series are squat but have a taller trap peristome which can be very interesting

    Many people around me think that "candy red" and "candy dreams" are different, and in fact I can find them separately on internet, but what is exactly the difference between them? Is it simply that the candy dreams has more amount of stripes?

  • @Wiseexotics
    @Wiseexotics26 күн бұрын

    supposedly , candy red was just the name used prior to candy dreams, when starting to ship out from non Asian market, but also should be noted some have labeled their own crosses as candy "red", which further mixed things up. I've seen xu head, candy dreams , candy red larger plants here in USA that look identical, But I've seen some that don't , it's all about the conditions it's grown in and if it's not a lookalike or knock off , that's in any case for any specimen. Size and age and conditional difference of the plant when grown, also leads to changes in its development. Unless you take 🧬 DNA samples and compare you can't tell difference. For some reason the Nepenthes community, really love visual observations over genetic testing 😂 why I don't know

  • @Wiseexotics
    @WiseexoticsАй бұрын

    @@scottbeaumont7286 depending on the species you have, they can grow at a faster rate, lowlands grow faster usually,so I only have a few of those in my collection. Highlands tend to grow very slow so it's a very progressive stage over five to even 15 years. If they ever got too big you can always top them and or induce a basil which slows their growth rate and allows you to have another plant to sell. Another concept to think about is doing desks that they can continue to grow upward toward the roof 👍

    I find it interesting how you can grow plants like villosas and macrophyllas right next to a bical and a northiania. What are your general temps in that tank during the day and night? Essentially, what is your secret?

  • @Wiseexotics
    @WiseexoticsАй бұрын

    slow acclimation 🤣, I'm gonna do a video discussing this eventually but for now I believe it's due to long term acclimating using humidity to make up for unstable or unusual temps 🤔. Simply I just bag it for weeks , then if small stick in the tank , if larger it goes to the window area and even then I have mixed 👍 ranges together. But just get them used to the temps then to humidity seems useful. I do have a hypothesis on this as well as light benefits but that's still wip research 👍

    I am supprised you are able to grow ultra highlanders (N. villosa for example) with lowlanders like northiana and bical. What are your typical temps during the night and day in that tank?

  • @Wiseexotics
    @WiseexoticsАй бұрын

    Yea I literally have suratensis ultra low next to a diabolica ultra high . Took me a while to figure out the staging to accommodate lowlands in highland conditions 🤔. Bit of a learning curve but Its proven successful of a lot of sensitive neps. I accidentally stumbled onto it when I mix-up Northiana and it's cousins conditions and grew it in highland 🤣. From a happy accident I got the idea. My conditions fluctuate a bit but I'm in a valley near the ocean so I get in the glass room 55 -76 usually, hotter can be 86. But these have survived into 100° to range as long as I could give a big drop at night to compensate. But that was a rare occurrence. Tanks temps are usually 60-78 so slight difference then window area and are above can get into 80s 👍

    Feminizing is performed on female plants as it has only female DNA. Creating female or f 6:56 femonized seeds. What your talking about doing is masculizing and seeds would still have male only DNA. If you are looking for female DNA to produce a true female plants you should look into backcrossing. Alternately if they naturally change sex due to temp changes just separate them to different conditions and collect/apply pollen. But my guess is that may still only provide male DNA.
