    Tommy Gunderson...it can be reliable if you baby it and don’t tow. I towed a 6000lb boat and when not towing was WOT all the time. I beat the crap out of it but also religious perform all PM. the 545RFE trans is just junk. Built trans is better, but you can only do so much. I plan to put $500 every 2/years in friction plates or bite the bullet and do. T56 swap. If I do the T56 swap, I’m upgrading cams and heads and increasing boost. If I had to do it all over, for performance and cost, I would have traded for Silverado and LS engine platform. Chevy more readily available, more aftermarket and easier to tune engine/trans.

  • @bp969
    @bp9698 жыл бұрын

    I went with supercharger over turbo because I towed boat and toys. I'm sure ATI designed to be somewhat safe but with any modifications there are always risks. I'd highly recommend getting a tune. If not, I'd be more worried about running lean before I would with the boost pressure. The 5.7 bottom end can safely hold 550 crank horsepower. No real concerns except for the tranny, finally found a good performance tranny from Paramount Performance but the 545RFE is characteristically slow, soft engagement. There will be T56 conversion in the near future. Can't do heads and cam until then, don't think the tranny will handle the additional power and my hard driving. I went with top mount for better cooling and to keep it up from the road debris.

  • @bp969
    @bp9698 жыл бұрын

    I went with centrifugal because they didn't make screw or roots style blower for 08 5.7, only started in 2009+ Hemi. It will throw codes with long tubes but the custom tune and O2 extensions stopped that. Passes emissions with flying colors.

But with the information you gave me sounds like I have a lot of homework to do don't like to be those ppl that go and say hey I want this and make it happen and was just worried cuz it's my daily driver and the nicest thing I got and would like to keep it that way also I know just a lil bit about cars but this is gonna sound retarded when I accelerate 100 percent and don't let off to shift when it finnaly does you hear the exhaust k8nda go BLEHH is that normal or should I not push it that hard it doesn't shutter or seem to miss I just didn't no if some one changed the computer sett8ngs if possible or what but like I sa8d I don't want to damage it

  • @bp969
    @bp9698 жыл бұрын

    +Joe mamma thanks. I would have gone turbo...but a custom install if it wasn't my daily and I didn't tow. If there was a screw or roots blower I would have used instead...but again if it wasn't my daily. I got the centrifugal because I can still cruise around town and get on it when I want. Best of both worlds. Starts building boost around 2500 and really picks up at 3000. There is little parasitic loss at lower RPMs that you can feel but I could fix that with heads/cams and higher gear ratio out back. Not sure what to tell you on your exhaust. Sounds like it could be pushing it too hard.

  • @bp969
    @bp9698 жыл бұрын

    +Joe mamma gotta remember too, you start to lose power to high in rpm band, so redline doesn't mean time to shift. Need to set your shift point according to max hp/torque on Dyno graph

    +bp969 did you notice a difference in the tone? More exotic sounding/higher pitched?

  • @bp969
    @bp9698 жыл бұрын

    +Kyle Rogers-Hofbauer you could call it higher pitched. It was definitely less raspy. More mellow sound, a more full sound throughout RPM and overall a better quality sound. Complemented my Magnaflow mufflers. It also gets progressively louder as you accelerate. Biggest thing was torque at lower rpm. I have cutouts for drag strip. They are right after cats and before x-pipe. Super loud but sound badass when full throttle and idle. Sounds like an exhaust leak when light throttle. It's so loud people won't drive next to me. I'm afraid I'll give some ole lady a heart-attack if I pass her fast.

  • @bp969
    @bp9697 жыл бұрын

    rift33 no the x-pipe gained torque at lower RPM. there are many videos of dynos that proved x-pipe better throughout RPM. H-pipe performs better higher RPM.

  • @bp969
    @bp9697 жыл бұрын

    rift33 if your asking loss of torque at lower RPM with cutouts open? Then yes. Honestly a complete waste of money. Bought the Dougs and they supposed to not leak...but they do. Any carbon buildup in exhaust system and the gate doesn't close all the way. They're loud but lose power...and attract unwanted attention. Needless to say I don't use them on street very much. Plus they also create unwanted turbulence and back pressure in system. Once exhaust hits closed gate it has nowhere to go.
