Cool video, straight to the usage.
Thanks 🙏
Can't agree more.
Fun if you want to fly the Avata 2 indoors drop all the control Values to the min... Happy flying!
Oh I was hoping to do this. What do you mean by dropping the control values? Do you mean fly in beginner mode?
Watch out folks that want to buy Avavta 2.. Only if you own one of a limited number of phone models will you be able to download and use the DJI Fly App and therefore you will not be able to set it up... I'm returning an Avata 2 I just bought due to this.
Oh wow really? I didn’t know this. What phone do you use? I’ve got an iPhone but wasn’t aware it was restricted
@@SheWhoDaresWins I have a Pixel 7 Pro.
Great vid 🤩
Thanks greg
Great video! No nonsense, clear, concise and straight to the point. 👏
Thanks scott! Appreciate it 😊
Thank you very much for your videos! I have one question. Should I have the white CSCS card before applying for Graduate Civil Engineer jobs in the UK?
It will put you in a better position for a job yes
Are you a geologist
I was a geotechnical engineer, before becoming a setting out engineer
@@SheWhoDaresWins , I am trying to find places to practice mapping in Aberdeen but it’s quite a challenge.
Your videos are great. When you are picking points, are you just picking anywhere?
No there all ways needs to be structure
will be fun when all these folks doing all that training and buying drones.. and then in the usa they ban drones.
oh wow that sucks
Good info! I'm thinking about getting a Mavic 3M to do some crops surveys, photogrammetry and mapping too!
Oh yeah you should they are ace!
How can I get a sponsorship certificate civil engineer job in London
Not sure I would speak to some agencies if I were you!
I am from India and I want to sponsered (visa) civil engineer job in London. Do you help me. My sister
You'll have to do it through an agency
@@SheWhoDaresWins if you have any agency contact than definitely give me.
Dude I'm pregnant and working construction building vertical carousels. On a job right now where we have 13 machines ( 17ft tall and 15 wide) to install. Got 10 standing so far. My feet are killing, heart burn is real, fatigue is crazy, hunger is ravenous, but luckily no morning sickness... until the smell of them porta pottys hit.... ughhhhh sometimes I wish I was that kinda chick that wears high heels and carries a purse with 2 fingers and scoffs at hard work
Ah I feel your pain! What trimester are you in the first three months were the worse for me. Just make sure you take care of yourself :)
@SheWhoDaresWins had my first appointment today and turns out I'm just now in my second trimester. Back to the grind tomorrow 💪
Hi im from the uk. I am considering a change of career. I came across your video whilst researching roof surveying. Im considering looking at drone video and event filming as well as roof surveying as a 2nd job with the scope of going in full time if it makes sense. One thing im not clear on, does one need to have an actual qualification i surveying to do roof inspections? (Producing report requires any accredition?) Im legal by education, QA manufacturing by trade. Would be good to strike out and do something for myself.
Oh great. I think for roof surveying just some experience is ok. maybe see if you can get on with a company for that for a bit before going on your own? Flying over houses and buildings is tricky so you need. the relevant certs and experience but it can be done. Best of luck!
Because a million points with 5 to 10 cm accuracy produces a more accurate surface model than a thousand shots with 2 cm accuracy. I was doing volume surveys 10 years ago with a Sensefly. I have a phantom 4 non-rtk now, but there are so many companies buying their own drones that I gave up on trying to find work with it.
Yeah I think education is key. So many folks discounting them as good tools. They aren’t the solution all the time but they definitely are very useful and effective for some surveys
Sweet ❤
Thank you very much for your video. I recognise so much of what you describe here. I also do A3/A2 RTK photogrammetry but because of work pressures it took me months to do a 15 minute A2CofC test. While I wouldn't suggest it, and exactly like you say, the mission planning software could let you perform a survey without ever touching a lever and much of my flight time is still like this. I had to actively push myself to do the self declaration training moves at weekends and that brings more confidence for sure. That said, I will definitely have picked up bad habits now. You have totally sold me me on the DPA guys and I will seek out a Scottish venue.
Yeah I totally get what you mean. I got caught out doing automatic flights too. It’s so easy to skips stuff when work takes up time and time is money. I normally would struggle to take 3/4 days off for a course but now I definitely feel more secure when flying and more importantly covered by law. Are you flying lots these days?
At the beginning of the video it sounds like you say "having been an engineer for the last 17 years...", but the caption says "haven't been an enginner" and since the captions are part of the video, is this a mistake you missed?
Ah thanks ha ha auto comments caught me out
Do you have a rough estimate for how much you can charge per acre for say 1-10 acre land surveys
Oh I don’t price per area and there’s a lot more into it. Try and figure out flight time and then work out a day rate. Normal day rates for flight surveys are anywhere between 500-1000 a day or more if you are doing lidar. Again also depends on the deliverables
As someone who is a ATPL(H) pilot I can definitely say the drone licenses are needed... I've often been operating in my helicopter at 500ft and had more than a few near misses from drones, Also as a hobby drone flyer myself I think the airspace needs this control I have my A2 CofC and I may do the GVC but I only fly the mini pro 3 (I do own a MAVIC air 1 and MAVIC pro also).
Oh wow that’s scary! That’s my worry when I fly I’m so honed in on potential aircraft. The course leaders said I was a very cautious flyer 😂 better to be safe I think!
Do you still do setting out engineering and management?
I don’t but I do work with a company who does so I’ve still got one foot in the door if that makes sense
It's also worth mentioning here that having a full UK driving license is highly valuable and can significantly improve one's chances of securing employment in construction.
Completely agree! Except in London I guess.
You forgot to include the price point the MS-96 costs between 135 - 170k€ (hw+sw permanent license) $144k - $181k. Excellent review and very interested the technology.
Thanks! Yes very expensive but there’s a new bit of kit I’ll be reviewing soon which is really exciting and a fraction of the price
Thank you! Very very useful info, much appreciated!
You are welcome
CAN DO IT THIS WORK WITH ANY DRONE LIKE AIR 3?
Not really. Any enterprise drone you can.
Hi, I am Survyor too. I have experience of land survyor more than 5 years. I just want you to say, if there is any job opportunity for me in your area. Please let me know. I am from Pakistan. Really Thank Ful to You,. Waiting for your reply

Hi I`m interest in that field and considering studying a Diploma in Surveying. How are the exams , are they difficult? And also is the Diploma enough to have a good career ?
Oh I’m not sure I did a geography degree and then moved over into it. I’m sure a diploma is a great way in though
Excellent video, thank you! Does the commercial licence expire at all? Thanks Scott
Yes every 5 years :)
But the top up test isn’t as long as
I would like to know, is it possible that i'v first came to UK as tourist, and seek and possibly find some job opportunities, and afterwords get work permit visa, before come as a resident and working in UK.
I don’t think anyone would entertain offering you a job without the right visa in place first
Can LIDAR detect timber density in utility poles?
Oh great question I’m not sure. I’ll find out for you

This is a great video. Thank you so much for the information! Does PQS Tech work in the U.S.? Do you have any insightful guidance on where to go for knowledge on doing as-built for construction? Thanks again SheWhoDaresWins!
They don’t I’m afraid. You could try fivver there are lots of engineer freelancers on there
So great 😊if woman can do that it is great
Thanks
Did you have a known point? If so then you would have had to use a base over that known point to send rtk to the drone / rover and did you use GCPs as well??? Or Were you using a GPS receiver such as an Emlid reach RS2 plus. with Ntrip and rtk to the drone / rover ?? Or where you only using drone rtk connected to Ntrip. I’m just getting started with mapping and I have a lot of questions as you can see.
Hey! So I use the drone with RTK but then I always use my gps rover to collect some GCPs because the RTK still needs tying in. For survey quality data ground control points are needed. Having an RTK drone just means you need less GCps. I hope this helps
hi love from india
Hey
Im doing the same job
Ah ace! Best of luck
Liked, Subbed, thanks for the video.
Thanks for the sub!

Base understanding of real time kinematics would be helpful as distinct from standard GPS.
Hello!Great video on navvis. Our company is considering purchasing either Matterport with the pro 3 camera or NavVis for our mobile mapping solution. We are an oil and gas company, and I'm interested to know if you have any videos comparing NavVis against Matterport.
Hey! Have you looked at the viametris? Is out performs both. If you contact Pqs tech they can set up a meeting to show you how impressive it is. You can reach out to me too at [email protected]
@@SheWhoDaresWins Thanks for your reply. We haven't explored viametris yet, but your video on this scanning technology looks intriguing and worth a look. Just wanted to see if there was any good head-to-head comparison showing NaVvis vs. Matterport. Thanks again for your response. Love your content!
If you are a novice and then want to gain experience and earn money doing it as a job how can you go about it.
I would go the roof inspection route or even photography or video. Surveying needs years of experience for the post survey processing for clients. It can be done but you would need to get educated on the surveying side of things
Can you do a video on how to set up drone flight paths using the drone
I most certainly can 👍🏻
I've only got a DJI Mini 4 Pro and do basic clear damage roof reports for home owners atm as part of damp proofing. im seriously considering dropping tools and picking up the controller more. Your video is in my favourites and I found it really simple and clear , I hope you continue with your success thanks for the video
It’s a great add on for your services for sure! I’d keep both going until your drone work really picks up. I’ve found being a full time drone flyer can be really hard. Weather restrictions etc but then again I do know full time flyers . Thanks for your kind words. More drone videos to come
Good i am also svy
I am moving to Canada in August and going to start from the scratch. I am also a land surveyor. Watching all your videos.
