All the comments are negative surprise surprise! EVs solo are a complete joke, towing they are even more useless. EVs are not even good for the environment and can catch fire after collisions. Please test real world vehicles in future.
Looks as if after at least 6 years Elddis have still failed to listen to their customers and redesign the front locker. Maybe that’s why you didn’t show it. I own a 6 year old Affinity and have been approached by and spoken to many other Elddis owners who, like me had emailed or written to Elddis and received no reply. I’m talking of course about the fact the locker door only opens to 90 degrees. You have to crawl on your hands and knees to reach in under it and at my age that’s easier said than done. I have many other gripes about the build quality, again shared by other owners including the wallpaper seams above the radiators. Within the second year they began to peel away! Maybe this one has improved glue but I for one will not be buying an Elddis again. Not least because of the lack of customer service on the locker issue.
Wow a very lucky lady to be able to still be riding her bike. Hope I'm at 86.. please more details on just giving and the film already made and any other links
Hi Victor, Granny Mave certainly is inspiring! You can find out more about her story on p38 of your August issue of Camping and Caravanning magazine. Head to justgiving.com/page/grannymavecycling to learn about how she is supporting the British heart Foundation and continue to follow her story and keep an eye out for updates on the film, produced by Bring to Life, at instagram.com/maviscycle/. - Hannah
Still has the basic problem that all EVs have regards towing. Range is extremely limiting and what to do with your caravan when requiring a recharge....and this car at £70K+ unrealistic for most people. Why even bother to review?
Totally pointless video for one who has £72.000 to spend on a electric car it's the most ugliest car a have seen and how much does the battery cost as this will be more expensive than the whole car ££££ no way
too pricey for me
And me!
Hurts my heart to see someone rolling all those great bubbles out of the dough….
We stayed here before it was taken over by club, it's a lovely site. Thornton's Holt Camping Park, Radcliffe Rd, Stragglethorpe, Nottingham NG12 2JZ, very peaceful , toilets fantastic, hopefully it's got even better as the children area and shop have been added since we was there before covid. Hope it's priced as good as it was
Why does it not actually say where the site is?
See my comment post code extra is on there
Incredible expensive for a tow car, as you'll have to unhook the caravan to charge which is a pain, you would want to be able to go at least 3 hours before requiring a charge, at motorway speeds that requires a range of 180 miles.
Spent 3 night here my only concern was the MSP very tight.
Sorry MSP ??
Waste of time, expensive, poor range, this club meeds a reset.
They are resetting pushing caravans and motorhome users to the back as they concentrate on becoming just another mass holiday business installing lodges, pods, yurts, tents as concerned caravanning will be badly affected by EV’s costs and lack of towing ability for the majority of caravans that 1300-2000kg mass!
Such nonsense, my Toyota is supposedly (Parkers) kerb weight 1460kg (Toyota do not list a kerb weight), which means under the NCC rule of thumb I can't tow anything bigger than 1241kg MTPLM. Yet Toyota states the braked towing capacity is 1800kg, with a Drawbar limit of 75kg. The VIN Plate states 2100kg MAM with a 3900kg GTW. It has absolutely no problem towing my twin axle caravan with a 1700kg MTPLM, especially with 180bhp, so this 'authoritative' video makes no sense at all.
We're staying there for five nights in September, looking forward to it.
It’s worth noting that the alko chassis on these has solid outriggers and a GRP underside to keep the wet off. They are built to last and not just bolted down on a massive piece of plywood and foam
Roads to and from the site, rough as rats, look out for speeding log carrying vehicles coming down from the mountains. The recommended road out is hardly fit for a mini car let alone a motorhome.
Nice to see the extension mirrors if I had a tenner for every time I've been on site and seen a caravan turn up without them I could buy a outfit like that stay legal caravaners
Love the mini
Might be okay towing with a newer family car, but our old Pugeot 307 really struggled up steep hills. We switched to a 2L turbo deisel Skoda Yeti which pulls it a treat. We have an older canvas model which has provided many great holidays, we love our Pathfinder!!
This is a good way to get out and about💯
Hi great video, could you tell me what mirrors do you suggest and what ones are you using in your video. I've just started out and they strap on.
You have left out quite a few bits in the setup process- not as easy as this clip seems to imply!! Better useful instructions would also help !
If you can afford the x5 50e you definitely can afford not to have to subject yourself to holidaying in a caravan.
It’s ok if you can afford to buy one!!! I know I’ll never be able to buy one
A bed you have to clime over a partner all for 30000
What you fail to say is that in rapid charge mode the 75kwh battery takes less than an hour to charge. This ibformation is vital.
My van takes less than 10 minutes to "charge"!
Maybe but you are polluting the planet.
Wow! A whole 200 miles (max in reality)! And at £100k (van and conversion) Too stupid for words.
We have the Vauxhall version of this van as a campervan and have just completed a two week holidsy in Normandy and the range was never an issue. Travelled over 1000 miles at a quarter the cost of diesel.
@@lynnebarnes7680 So, from Dieppe, it is 177 miles to Arromanches. One full charge if you are lucky. And then if you are just pottering about, you may well get a few days on a charge. But that is not what campers are used for! (If yours is used like that, you are missing out!) Plus, the price tag for a conversion is minimum of £25K on top of the van at £70k. Then you need to buy H&C running water at £1.5k plus all of the other extras. It is totally impractical in the winter, it has to be a camps site only and we have started to see big charges on sites for charging EV's so that will only spread. Great for cars maybe, especially if you want a weekday runabout, but campervan? You have two weeks to have a holiday, you want to go to Narbonne Plage on the Med. I can do it is two days and one fill that takes 10 minutes. I can do it quicker if I up the pace. How long would it take you...
Absolutely useless
Why do you say that. We have the Vauxhall Vivaro version of this van and it is brilliant. Explain why you think it is useless.
Just 1 leg of my last journey was 400mls. I have no wish to get on a campsite and need a charge prior to getting a hot drink down me. I have driven many EVs, very nice to drive but totally unpractical.
@@MrWood222I think EV’s are ok for cars where you drive locally but not practical for campervans and motorhomes.
Seems like a good solution for those who want to be off the ground and don't want a rooftop tent. Sadly though, the price is too steep.
We had a great day filming with you Rob! Thank you to The Camping and Caravanning Club for the great review. For anyone interested in Swing Away Tents and would like to learn more, please visit our channel where you can find links to our website. We will also be at Billing Off-Road Show 29th-30th June, come visit us there! 👍
Hi just wondering as we have the same Vw transporter if you can open the rear tailgate when coupled up to the caravan ? Thanks
I'd be interested in knowing what the typical servicing costs of the diesels are compared with their petrol counterparts.
Thats lovely congratulations Hill View Farm
Live in Nottinghamshire- where is the nearest dealer to view a folding camper please?

Can we get this in the US?
Just found this from the magazine June 2024. I hope one to visit this area
Exactly like the camplet.
SO, no chance of Canada sales?
What a pity Volvo has since decided to abandon the V-series estate wagons.
Why on earth would someone think it was a good idea to shoot an information video in monochrome. I couldn't concentrate on anything because I was waiting all the time for the video return to colour and then I could get a better idea and a feel of what the motorhome was realistically like. Please don't film any other videos in monochrome, it's for information not to win an award for being 'arty'
Hi Lynn, We're sorry you weren't able to view the video in full colour. We can assure you its was filmed and shared in full technicolour. I hope you're able to resolve your viewing issues. A reboot can often help.
A nice article, but you missed mentioning the following advantages of a woollen blanket Warm, breathable, shrugs off dirt, long lasting, good for the planet using natural resources, bio degradable after many years use and importantly gives sheep's fleece the true value it deserves. Let's use more natural fibres 😄🐑
Are there really people with this much money to spend on a car who go caravanning?
Yes I ☝🏻
What is the colour please.

It's still towing though. Nowadays people are sleeping in the car and using a tailgate tent for the extra space. Take a look at at the dometic air tents they are great.
Get with the times Camping and Caravanning Club. This is safer than having appliances in a campervan or motorhome. " All conversions should be permanent in nature." No point in reviewing it really.
It’s always interesting when reviewers talk about mpg on a plug in hybrid. Mpg is indicative of what it’s going to cost to run the car and the electricity cost needs to be factored in as well. So whether you pay £10 in petrol, or £5 in petrol and £5 in electricity, either way, your journey has cost you a tenner !
What’s the deal with not being able to have a towbar fitted unless towbar prep done at the factory? Almost rules it out as a contender for me.
I’m not sure he is right about the tow bar fitting! I had a removable one fitted recently no problems whatsoever!
