game isn't out yet, why are folks simping for it already lol...let the game come out and then judge on it's merits. What's this Sekiro comparison out of the blue that needs to be disqualified.

Hi I have some criticism to you about definition of Indie Games Valiant Heart is not an indie game, It is made by Ubisoft FIST is also not an indie game imo because it can debated, it is made by TiGames which counts 12 employees so its not huge but not a small company either? I am confused on this one tbh, so its ok if u consider it indie It seems to me that you misunderstood what indie game means, so here is the very short definition: Game is indie when its made by small group of people, "small" can be debated but its less than 10 people for me, but there are some indie games with more than 10, really depends. Valiant Heart is made by large company and since its 2d, thats why I think you did a mistake here (confused it to indie), love the list of your games tho!!

Tunic seems nice, but I like some sort of hand holding in games... I feel like I might get a bit frustrated when I don't find things out... And I hate having to use walkthroughs throughout a game.

@@jacobmstevens As a first example, I discovered a developer here on YT who seems nice and he released his first game a while ago. I have it on my wishlist but can't get to it right now because I have so many other things to do, but I think it could use some more attention. The game is called Pre Dusk.

Loved the list! The first game that I'd always add, one I always advocate for, is Nex Machina, from Housemarque (now of Returnal fame). Others, just my opinion, would be Chicory, Gris, Infernax, Lone Survivor, Axiom Verge, Manifold Garden, Observer, and Swapper. There are many others 😅

Nice list, man. I have played the majority of them & heard. I haven't bar Tales of Iron. That look has me sold. I will definitely check it out. Indies I have enjoyed are titles like Vampire Survivors, simple but surprisingly addictive. Celeste, Sea of Stars, Dead Cells, Cuphead, Undertale, Blasphemous, Inscryption, Braid, most recently Animal Well, a Short Hike, Dredge, Return of the Obra Dinn, Killer Frequency, Mundaun, Stray, Citizen Sleeper, Dave the Diver, Cocoon, Papers Please was a good one some years back, Limbo, Hotline Miami, Outer Wilds, Disco Elysium, Stardew Valley, Minit, Toem. The Artful Escape was asthetically beautiful & very creative. Gris, Not for Broadcast, As Dusk Falls, Night in the Woods, Brother's: A Tale of Two Sons, Observation, Darkwood, Firewatch, Death's Door, Abzu, Omori, World of Horror, Thimbleweed Park, Eastward. Some of these may not be overlooked, but I felt they deserved more recognition than they possibly received.

Some recommendations. Dredge: a Lovecraftian fishing game that somehow combines cozy and creepy as you travel a set of islands to bring in a profitable catch while trying to solve the mystery of the curse set upon the place and the eldritch abominations that also lurk beneath the waves at night. You have to balance inventory management and time as it can get dangerous at night but also uncover some fish and secrets you wouldn't otherwise. I wouldn't call it a horror game but has that horror vibe. Outer Wilds: a 3-D puzzle platformer where you are an alien astronaut out to explore their solar system and the civilization that preceded theirs when they get caught in a timeloop that ends with their sun going supernova. The ship takes some getting used to piloting (remember there is no friction in space) and you need to remember the on-board computer keeps track of clues through the loops. This is as far as I can tell you about the game without spoiling the discoveries you make (and even what I did say about the plot might have been too much) the player is supposed to be guided by their curiosity using what they learn and their beginning toolset to solve the puzzles and find the greater story. It's not a game for everyone but it's a game everyone should at least try. Sea of Stars: a JRPG from the makers of The Messenger that serves as a distant prequel. Play as the Solstice Warriors Zale and Valere as they travel the world to destroy the foul creations of the evil alchemist known as the Fleshmancer. Combat employs timing your hits, combo attacks and using certain attacks at the right time to weaken or disrupt enemy skills. A great follow up and well worth it if you played The Messenger before or not (and if you have played Sea of Stars but not the Messenger go play that too.)
