    Nice review! I bought a 320i touring off our plumber a year ago. Had to spend nearly a few grand on it eventually, but I’d agree, it is a lovely drive and you do feel like you’re in a proper car. Enjoy!

    Thanks 😁. I love mine don't get me wrong but I think the touring are a lot cooler than the saloons. I think that bit of practicality of a touring goes a long way.

    I just used a piece of waxed thread used to stitch leather. You can lift the badge slightly to get the thread behind and then 'saw' through the adhesive tape.

    Get an old cheap laptop for your garage. The best way to deflate the bags is definitely through a service function on DIS or ISTA (maybe even INPA, haven't checked if it has it) software.

    @@gazza9919 Nice! Thanks. I have 142K miles on mine and wanted to do this as a preventive maintenance. I've seen a lot of people on youtube with around 170K to 200K when they go out. I wonder if its miles or time that kills the bags. I think I have a few more miles regardless. Thanks for the info and the video!

    It really is. It's insain to think it's been there that long. Ideally it would be nice to be taken over by someone who wants to continue using it as a scrap yard but I bet it will more than likely have houses built on it. That seems to be the go to thing nowadays.

    Do not over tighten the blue and red hose nuts because the valve body is plastic and you will strip the threads in the body. My E61 is a 2008 model but newer models may have been modified by BMW. I have an AUTEL MK808 which may have an air suspension deflation function . Good video and go easy on those spanners when doing the hose nuts up.

    It's nice to see that you want to change something, but unfortunately it's the wrong way. Are there no self-help workshops near you? You should use compressed air and a compressed air needle to remove the rust as best you can and then degrease it before you think about rust converters. What you've done won't work... It would also be better to use tools to first remove anything that bothers you so that you can get to the rust more easily. Unfortunately that's nothing... Above all, the rust was only polished and not removed. CSD discs or, as I said, compressed air needles are better.

  • @gazza9919
    @gazza99192 ай бұрын

    Unfortunately I'm on a tight budget and am limited to what I can do although it won't stop it I'm rather confident that it will slow it down. I do massively appreciate the advice though and if I find myself in a better financial situation in the future I will definitely go down the route that you have suggested

    At a guess it might be worth looking at it and seeing if it's got cigarette ash in it from the cigarette lighter. Give the contacts a wipe and if the issue still occurs then check the connection underneath. If you still cant find a issue then you might be better off just replacing the barrel as it's quite easy to get to.
