I think Cole felt the need to send shots back, but never intended on a strung out beef. He knew Kendrick really wanted Drake, but couldn't go out like a sucker not responding to K dots jabs. J Cole's involvement was never serious, I think everybody knew that, and that's why Cole kept it here and chilled out. Other than that, he was prob well aware of the allegations surrounding Drake & didn't want to look bad standing on the wrong side of a beef he wasn't really in to begin with. Still, I don't like how he apologized on stage and backed off. Could have done it more smoothly and saved face. But it's not for me to decide anyways lol
for real the apology on stage is just too much of a white flag and doesnt really go along with his song. I know the song is a diss but just saying "I love you and forgive me" after writing this amazing diss is just so odd for me
