    I had my 84 ET300 running perfect last time I used it. I got it out this fall and it will not run right. It kills a plug almost instantly. Back fires out of the carb. I took the carb off again and looked at it. Cleaned it again. Although it seems perfectly clean. I'm at a loss. Any advice?

    So where does the extra 50cc come from that separates the American 700 Nighthawk from the Canadian 750 Nighthawk. Is it in the bore or stroke or both I have two 700 models and one does have a broken starter chain so I was wondering if that new starter chain with the part number you described earlier would fit the 700cc just as it does a 750cc ?

  • @wfvs1500
    @wfvs15007 ай бұрын

    I think the extra 50 cc would come from the bore. Then Honda wouldn't have to have a different crank and cylinder head. And as far as I know, the chain should work on both the 700 and the 750. Good luck with the wrenching...

    My 84 nighthawk 650 chain tensioner would not relaease whatsoever and then i dropped a washer down the hole and started to lose hope. Do you habe any tips for getting the chain to finally loosen or am i better off pulling the full chain assembly and rebuilding it?

    I found mine to be pretty tight even with the tensioner released. Because i was going deep into the engine, I just unbolted the cam sprockets and tore it apart that way. I'm wondering what brought you to tear the engine down?

    Thank you for video and your hard work to make, would have been nice to see the chain go over the cam gear? Can you go over that procedure in the description in detail a little more? have the bolts off that hold the gear? Or did you just loosen those? Is there a danger or a way to from dropping the bolts into the open engine? Should you give it a trial run outside on the bench? I have to do this job in the next few days after I get some new OEM valve springs, I bought kibblewhite valves, and I decided to use OEM Yamaha spring kit, because the kibble white spring kit is more for high performance & have been known to break easier.. They are larger dual spring again it might be nice for High Performance Racing but I am building the engine stock

    I had purchased a ‘85 CB650SC in ‘86, which after several new cam chain spring replacement, I decided to change out the Hy Vo cam chain to a new part. Might have put on 30k miles when I did this (bike bought brand new). Long story ~ short… All back together & oil GUSHED out of the 90 degree drive section (NOT the exact same location, mine was on the underside of the 90 degree housing. I wasn’t going to pull everything to redo the entire job. I loosen the bolts that held the 90 degree, prayed it out just a touch, found I had flipped over the gasket on installation. Couldn’t flip gasket over, SO I APPLIED A BEAD OF RTV ON THE machined surfaces, waited 24 hr.s, bolted the 90 d. back, never leaked a drop! If you pull the 90 D. out too far, a washer will drop off, so extra extra caution would have to be used!!!. Otherwise, pull engine and redo the entire procedure. Great video. Loved my CB 650 SC. As the mileage got higher, it developed a weave of some sort been you’d really bent it over in the corners. Changed out triple claim steering head bearing, but no change. Just one of it’s failing I guess? I suspected the needle bearing in the swing arm, but that required a “special” Honda tool I wasn’t willing to get, when you could still get them. Sold it to my stepson for a dollar, and told him not to push it, that weaver was unsettling…

    I made the mistake of buying a Harbor freight compression tester. After taking a reading on my new to me '85 Honda 650 Nighthawk, and seeing readings of 40psi, (The bike has low mileage and runs very strong) I became suspicious of the design. I believe the problem is related to your video, I think mine needs a schraeder valve in the adapter, as well as the gauge also.

I assume you were able to screw the brass threaded fitting out of the carb body that holds the choke plunger in place. I would soak the plunger area in good penetrting oil and let it sit like overnight. Then pry upwards on the choke cable with a prybar of some sort (I made a forked tool to use). you mau have to buy a new a replacement cable. It should come out eventually. If all else fails one may have to install one of the primer kits and abandon the use of the choke, i'd say that is a last resort! Good luck and never give up...!
