Why would fox focus on 13% of the population? Television programming exists to sell advertising to corporations. It makes no sense to pander to a minority population that lives off of handouts and can’t buy the items advertised during commercials

Blacks put FOX on the map...made them RICH...and look how they repaid us. They should release all episodes of the show on DVD in a boxed set. I'd sure as hell would buy it.

Thank you for this Unsung New York Undercover...I had no idea how many African Americans were behind the making of this show! I LOVED this awesome show and characters! It was way ahead of it's time!! I could not miss an episode...until they killed off Eddie and Patty D'arbenville left!! Dick Wolf kinda redeemed himself with SVU with Ice-T and Chicago PD with La Royce Hoskins and Benjamin Levy Aguilar!!

NY Undercover could’ve been great but they screwed it up. The music was the only thing they got right. JC was the stereotypical black dude. Baby mama, light skinned gf, always making racist comments but it’s ok because he’s black lol. The plots and characters were corny AF. The music was the only thing that fit

I love everything Dick Wolf makes, but messing up New York Undercover was his biggest mistake. He said NYU was no Friends & he was right. It was better & it was a show that represented people of color in a positive light & had a lot of heart.

The Best Man was part of that special era of film in the late 90s and early 2000s that showed us an entirely different world for Black people on screen. The aspirational "young black professionals" movies as a I like to call them showed the world that there was way more to Black life than "the hood" or violence or racism and all that other stuff. The Best Man, Love Jones, Soul Food,Love & Basketball, Brown Sugar, Barbershop 1 and 2, The Brothers, Breakin' All Da Rules, Two Can Play That Game, Deliver Us From Eva and Just Wright have all become classics and were great follow ups to what great films like Boomerang and Waiting To Exhale started. And just like Malcolm and the others said, these were not "Black films" the stories and characters happened to be Black and there were certainly Black nuances and culutural aspects, but they were universal stories about love, friendship, careers etc that were seen through the eyes of Black people. The industry needs to remember this.

FOX Is good example that black people needed a black distribution company in Hollywood. Not to provide a racist like statement (and I apologize to my white brothers and sisters if I do), but having white folks give insight into how they can make a show full of black culture with the proper formula even better, is what killed New York Undercover in the first place. That could have been Dick Wolf's additional bread and butter next to Law and Order because hip hop was a growing genre and we are constantly exploited in a negative light everyday. So many creative ideas and money to be made, but everything was dumped in the trash just to impress some folks who already had their hands full with Law and Order and NYPD Blue?

NY Undercover was a GREAT show. When they brought on Ice T as Danny Up it just changed the entire feel of the show, especially after he killed Sandy. Fox may not have done everything right with the show but you have to give them credit for even taking a chance with a network drama featuring two men of color as the leads.

Huge piece of my childhood here. I remember begging my parents to stay up to watch it. When I did good in school I was allowed to. Thursday Nights on FOX used to be a whole event. Rest In Power James Mtume and Andre Harrell. those Brothas don't get enough credit for the Soul they put in the first 3 seasons of this show.

It was amazing to have a positive portrayal of Puerto Ricans. We don't get that much. New york Undercover needs a reboot and a Grand theft auto style videogame. Bring the original cast back have it take place between season 2 and 3. 😊

I don't care for cop/dective or lawyer shows but new York undercover is an exception it was a 100 percent urban and hip hop it was less like watching a tv version of new jack city it had the same vibe that the hood movies in the 90s jc and Torres were both young and fine

I love this movie. It premiered 2 years after I finished college and although very fictional, it reflected my friend group of young professional HBCU graduates. In fact, we were just 2 months past the 1st wedding of the core group...two classmates who had met via a 3rd. Although the principal cast are all a bit older than us, the film depicted an aspirational version of young, black professionals being fabulous (and messy) as they navigate their post-college years.

Yes, The Best Man was a great movie sibling to Living Single. Both of those along with Boomerang, Love Jones, The Brothers. Deliver Us From Eva etc. really represented the young black professional world and the issues with love and relationships so well while also representing the deep familial bond between a friend group that are also like family.

Did anyone else get the feeling that this unsung was supposed to be much longer and it was edited very very poorly? It just seemed like everyone has so much more to say and they just tried to wrap it up as quickly as possible without expounding upon anything. A work of this magnitude in the black community deserve so much better editing then it received

New York Undercover was the best show to air on FOX, the first three seasons were the best. The 4th Season jumped the shark, adding Thomas Mikal Ford was the good thing but when they got rid of the musical performances as well as Natalie’s was the death of the show.
