Absolutely brilliant tutorial and just what I was searching for. I was asked to make some and didn't even know what they were. I will be in the workshop setting up my stuff in the morning. Thanks again from Dave in New Zealand 😊
Do you have a list of the parts for this? The link provided does not work. Thanks! Love the simplicity of the system. Especially when One Way wants almost 700.00 for their system. Great video!
Hire a sound engineer to fix this.
I'm a metal spinner but we used rollers and compounds for leverage so we can spin heavier things
Thank you for this!
Hummingbirds are open nesters and won't use a bird house. Have fun anyway!
PROTECT YOUR LUNGS.
what is man glitter? Good video, keep it up.
Doug, just stumbled upon your presentation- nice job. And thanks for the shout-out on my book. Great to see others spreading the word. 👍👍
You are a good guy but I don't like you talking a lot. Please record your production and deliver it to the people without talking too much. Thank you my dear.
2024, newbie.. I am learning..trying to do 5..so I can really see how my teacher is showing me. I want to do it all by myself..so far they touch my work. Impressed encouraging to watch you..❤❤❤❤
Would it be possible to get more info on the part that holds the laser
Sorry, Don passed away a few years ago and I don't have that informaiton.
Very interesting clip, would have been more helpful to me as an end user if (1) dimensions were given on all strips of wood used and (2) we were able to hear the questions from the audience. Thanks.
WHAT IS THE PIECE BETWEEN THE TAIL STOCK AND THE FOLLOWING CHUCK BLOCK?
what metal thickness do you recommendd?
when are you going to do more?
Can't understand anything
Excellent video and the outcome is beautiful!
No watches. No rings. No loose clothing and this clown is teaching while wearing gloves. You should be ashamed.
You need your arse kicking for wearing gloves. It's only a matter of time before you get wound into that chuck and it'll serve you right. You may be a professor. But your not a professor of bloody common sense.
For what use is the project shown? Looks like an alien saucer? LOL. You use a chuck for tail and head stock?
Greetings from cool Colorado. Was watching turning videos when this popped up at random & "Denton" caught my eye. (It's a bit dated, so I hope you guys are still a club & still making shavings.) An old Krummite myself - born in Decatur, grew up in Krum, & attended UNT (NTSU back then) - before Uncle Sam grabbed me back in '69. Moved to the mountains in '79 & been here ever since. Just purchased a nice used Nova 1624 to replace my old Craftsman dinosaur & am enjoying getting back into turning. Nice little project there - hopefully you folks are still at it. Best Regards, Marshall McKinney
Howdy from Denton! We are still a club, but like most clubs our members are getting older every year. If you are ever in the area the first Monday of the month, you can stop by the Denton Visual Arts Center for our monthly meeting. We also still make cars and give them out at a few local events each year. I am a retired math professor from UNT - NTSU when I started teaching there. Nice to hear from you! Neal Brand
Having recently bought a design book by a well know turner this video really puts it all into visual perspective. Thank you very much for taking the time to explain so well
Thanks for your comment. Sadly, John Beasley, the person who did this video is no longer with us, but his memory lives on in his videos and our fond memories of him. Neal Brand
Thanks Mike for the interesting ideas and thank you to the editor for the captions when people ask a question!
Good for me,
What i want to know is why you cant sell it do you think they cared out vibration hundreads of years ago i think not most would have been made on a pole lathe ive even seen carved ones that people use and the formula seriously do you thinkn they would have known about that hundreads of years ago aswell i think not you are thinking to much into it its a simple tool for making wool
Thank you so much for this video with out a jig I'm gonna give this a shot
This is really good. Thank you for all the hard work to get this set up.
много говорит , мало показывает !!
I have done very similar with Woodglut designs.

I appreciate your jig-less approach to making a coffee scoop. What, though, is the magic formula for your finish, especially the ratio of bee wax to carnauba wax. Thanks in advance.
Nicholas I mix 1.4 oz of beeswax and .3 oz of carnuba wax in 7-8 oz of mineral oil. You don’t have to be too exact. You can vary the amount of waxes to make a softer or firmer mix. I then microwaved the mix for about 6 minutes until all the waxes melted. Then stir it all together and let it cool Have fun Joel
Nice little finial I have three pairs of bi focal safety glasses that I wear turning and they help me see in close and the fit behind visor , full face respirator and Trend Airpro power filter helmet they cost less than fifteen dollars at most tool , safety gear and building centers If you wear prescription glasses have your optical shop make you a pair of bi focal safety glasses
I have a bunch of recycled spindles from old chairs. I believe I just found a use for them. I'm making the globes out of epoxy and pine cones.
It would be nice to hear what the questions were.
What a great job of turning and presenting.
Like to see a rabbit.
Sand paper Is just a cutting tool, see no reason why it should not be used
I know this is an old vid, but I really enjoyed this teacher. If I ever go to one of these, I hope its either with Neal, or someone who has a similar teaching style. I am going to try my hand at this....
Great idea! And budget friendly. You mentioned parts and plans. Is it possible to get a copy?
Sorry, Don died a few year ago and I don't believe the club has his plans.
p̶r̶o̶m̶o̶s̶m̶
Great idea.
This was an excellent demonstration ... really like his presentation!
Thanks for showing the questions.
Sorry, volume turned all the way up and still could not make out everything she was saying. I’m sure I missed a lot of great info. Maybe she would like to do a remake.
Nice presentation and project Ron, cheers Colin.
Thank you for showing the questions. Most live demos don't. Because I'm having a couple of problems turning insides of bowls, I watched this entire demonstration, nearly all of it at normal speed. Excellent. Thank you.
There appeared to be some really good tips. Any chance of doing a second take with audio or even a voice over please
Good idea. It may be difficult to get everyone together to add better sound. Sorry about the poor sound quality. We are having some strange audio problems.
Hummingbirds might use one that is shaped like their nests, a small cup with an open top. Don't sand the inside. ;) These are really cute though.
