    I'm mobile. As for getting water at appointments I added a part in my service agreement (that new clients sign before booking an appointment!!) that some dogs require more water than others so to keep it fair we try to refill our water tanks after every appointment and denying access to water might require us to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Nobody's even batted an eye so far

    I have a beagle French bulldog cross and I want to thin out a pat at the back of his neck, in between his shoulders and at the base of his tail. He loves the water but it’s quite difficult to dry those places because the fur is so dense. I read that you shouldn’t trim fur but would it be ok to thin out the patches I mentioned?

  • 15 күн бұрын

    It would be best not to trim it, but would have to bring dog to a good groomer to really know for sure.

    @loomonda18Ай бұрын

    @ Being so defensive about this is absurd. It was the first thing I noticed, among multiple people, so I'm just saying, MAYBE consider a gentler approach next time with future dogs. I'm not saying you hurt or abused the dog by any means, but you were a bit rough, when you probably didn't mean to be.

  • Ай бұрын

    Not the groomer, this is a platform. But she's not being rough. Nothing to defend or be defensive about. You are entitled to your opinion as are the couple of other non-groomers here that think the same but it doesn't make it accurate.

    The way I just freaked seeing a Welshie! We don't usually shave the ear so far down or as close to the leather. Our standard states the ears should be lightly feathered. Dang that Welshie's ears are long! They shouldn't come past the nose.

    The thing is when you're grooming you kind of don't have time to baby them. I understand where you're coming from I felt the same way watching it but if they were petting them the whole time the cuts would take 4 hours and cause more stress to the dogs so as long as they're not causing pain giving a little correction for him to turn his nose so he doesn't get nicked on the nose, really is in a big deal.

  • Ай бұрын

    She wasn't rough about it..just nudges him. He is very nosey and it is for their safety as groomers use sharp tools.

    Would the Kenchii Scorpion 46 tooth be a good shear for a Newfoundland ?

  • 2 ай бұрын

    The scorpion thinning shear is a fine thinner more for detail, work and fine hair. To trim and de-bulk a Newfoundland you would need something a little bit more aggressive like the Shinobi 36 tooth or 32 tooth or the lightning 34 tooth or 40 tooth

    As a Brit, I was confused about the "cat bathroom". I automatically thought it was where cats were washed and groomed (to cut down on the fear factor of doggos looking on) ... until it finally clicked 😁. In case anyone's in any doubt, that would most likely be called the "cat toilet" or "cat loo" this side of the pond. Or the "cat crapper" if you were particularly coarse and / or with an alliterative bent. I love it, whatever its name may be ... and of course the rest of the salon and Jess & Co. 😍.

    Do you recommend raking a eight month cocker spaniel verses carding?

  • 3 ай бұрын

    Both if necessary. The rake would remove bulk hair if the back coat is extremely long and thick but then once the bulk is removed, you would use the carding tool to finish the job.
