For anyone watching, the hub nut needs to be tourqued to 420NM which is twice what a big 1/2" tourque wrench can do, so you'll need a Loooong bar. The bearing is known as a pre-loaded casette. Give me a renault 4 please.

There were the fender fasteners. I believe they are #12 and they are 5/8 long. I think I'm all set@@Automotiveolie
Ah gotcha, the screws for the wing / fender rails, I’ll find the company I bought them from and put it up.
This is the company, a2stainless.co.uk. Just search for the desired size and they should pop up straight away, I can’t seem to share an individual link to a specific item. Cheers
That is in extraordinary condition. I think it’d be worth getting the faded interior parts painted the original colour to fully tidy it up as it is too good to be imperfect.
I know, I was really surprised. For now I’ve just started refitting better trims as and when I can find them, this sonar blue trim is like hens teeth!
That roof is brand new, it felt like you set it up, looks so clean
I’d worked on one recently which ended up being scrapped because the roof was so bad so when I saw this one I was genuinely surprised. Honestly everything has surprised me with this car so far!
when the spanner fell down i almost spit out my tea laughing
😂😂😂 it’s amazing how often that happens. I did managed to retrieve it with some long nose pliers after I’d finished 🤦♂️
My Brother has the older Discovery, think its a 300tdi, not sure but he has spent years preserving it. Of course it has a huge modified front bumper, jack up kit and wheels like monster max lol.
They’re such awesome versatile Motors. You can go to town on these old rigs!
@@Automotiveolie Oh he has lol. Its been usefull. There a good work hos. Good off road bus. 👌
@@Supercarlsunday I had an 1985 2 door Range Rover v8 full off road spec for a year or so was absolutely unstoppable off road!
@@Automotiveolie Sounds amazing fun. I've only had one range rover myself. It was the tdv8. I sold it before It failed and bought an XC90..
@@Supercarlsunday can’t bash a Volvo. Had plenty of literally a tank
Good engine - I had the exact same one, with turbo and intercooler in a 109 and it pulled like a train. I’ve just picked up a suffix A in similar condition, but with a 2.8 straight 6 Nissan diesel, so I’ll definitely follow along 👍
I’m slowly falling in love with the big old diesel lump! I have a feeling I know the suffix A you’ve bought. Was it on eBay recently?
Got my flat cap, a cream cheese sandwich and roll of tissues ready for the next vid 😗
Best ask the mrs first.
My father purchased a Tdi in the same colour as yours in early 1990. It was a great vehicle and with the best engine of all time in a Land Rover in both reliability and mpg. Thanks for sharing😀
Do you know if it’s still on the road? Sounds like a rare old beast. Thanks for watching! And taking the time to comment.
No, sadly it was wrecked a few years ago by a later owner. I agret to day that I didn’t bought it from my father, but at that time I had a Range Rover Classic and a 110 high cap who needed my attention😉
@@robertdrum6857 well it sounds like you had your hands full anyway haha!
looking forward to more of this
Good to see you back!
Great to see you back, I've got my popcorn, I'm ready for the ride!
Awesome! Good to see you again!
Nice one can’t wait for the videos to start 👍
Thanks Damian. I’m off away for a bit but as soon as I’m back a mega video will be coming
Stunning disco. That switch under the bonnet looked like a battery isolator like the red key cut off switch. I’m fitting one the same to your old Range Rover for a second battery
Ah gotcha! Must be what it is. It was only the first time I’d noticed it. How’s the old Range Rover coming along?
@@Automotiveolie slowly lol. Waiting on a chassis to arrive for the strip down of my blue one then I can prep the 71 chassis ready to drop the body on it. Pretty much being held up then it’s just putting it altogether again :)
@@dd4x4 wicked. Sounds like it’s well under way!
Great video! I’m looking forward to following your progress on it. I’ve got a 97 Disco 1 I’m rebuilding. The Discovery 1s don’t get much love, but I think they’re the last of the “old school” Land Rovers.
Couldn’t agree more. These early discoveries really are the perfect bridge between bumpy agricultural defender and soft luscious Range Rover! Ticks all my boxes. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
I like that a lot!
It’s a lovely old landrover. I’ll be very tempted to keep it and let the mrs scoot around in it
@@Automotiveolie I had an H reg one many years ago. I'm very tempted to find one like it.
@@davidbrodie5044 you should. They’re great cars and starting to gain some traction with value too.
how do you do this on FWD as there is no stub axle?
You use the CV joint to wind it in once bolted to the housing if this makes sense
Hard working man. I bent my knees. Salut.👍🏻
Thankyou! Glad you enjoyed it
That was a great video really enjoyed watching you make that look so easy, can I do the same on my transit connect it’s 13 reg 🤓
Cheers. If it uses the same parts the method should be identical 🍻
helps to put the new bearing in the freezer for a few hours to shrink the metal
Yep done that a few times. Usually when I’m doing these bearings the vans need to be in and out of the workshop ASAP so the freezer doesn’t really have enough time
Just came across the channel. How is tge work coming?
It’s coming along, hoping to get some filming and an update in for everyone in the new year.
Love it!
Thanks!!
I use a 3 ton jack and acro prop, video on my channel its quick and easy.
Nice. I’ll check it out
Nice job! And a great end result. Nice to see that everything doesn`t have to be perfect. Looks like a very enjoyable Classic car 😊. Keep us updated with future updates 😊
Thankyou! Exactly, perfection is something everyone interprets differently. It’s perfect to me as it’s usable! Thankyou for watching I appreciate it. 🍻
yep, did it the same way yesterday. I saw a method where you use 5x M17 bolts and nuts to press the bearing off. tried it. result? 5 knackered M17 bolts. sometimes the grinder is the only way. For anyone watching, the hub nut needs to be tourqued to 420NM which is twice what a big 1/2" tourque wrench can do, so you'll need a Loooong bar. The bearing is known as a pre-loaded casette. Give me a renault 4 please.
I’ve seen someone pull the old bearing off with a flat bar behind it but it still took as long as a grinder to do and doesn’t guarantee success! Yes those hub nuts are a pain to get off as much they’re are to get tight enough.

Not a problem, thanks for you watching and taking the time to comment.
Pls make a video about rust and corrision fighting on the transits Mk7.
Luckily for you I maintain a fleet of 5 mk7 transits and I’ve welded almost all of them with arches to inner steps etc so next time one is due for some work I’ll do a video. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Did you have a paint code when ordering your spray? It's an incredible match - I'm also restoring a tuscan blue so would really appreciate your advice!
I can’t remember exactly what the colour code is off the top of my head however it’s the only one listed on buzzwelds website.
