I’m gonna come back and watch this after I read it myself (can’t get it until after the school year starts because teacher lol) but I am so excited and hearing you talk about it makes it more exciting!!
I always just push through a slump. I use reading sprints. I'll pick up my current read for 20min and focus on nothing else for that 20min, then I remember what I like about that book. And slump generally broken haha
First thoughts like 30 seconds in. WOW! Your hair looks great! And look! It matches! 😍 LOVE IT
Very clever way referring to the "fast-food" books of the book industry, as opposed to those well crafted 5-star meal type books
Your Fourth Wing commentary had me laughing so much #equidistant 😂
Just finished the book. I really enjoyed it, gave it 4 stars. I was hesistant because Ruin of kings was indeed too complicated for me. This book however was really straightforward. I really like we had one POV. Loved the characters. Story was great. Really hope it will stay a standalone, we need more of those for fantasy
I’ve never read any Jenn Lyons but you sold me on gay and standalone 😂
I also loved Sky on Fire, I finished it a few days ago!! I love how queer her books are. ❤ I so reckon it will be continued; she totally could, quite easily, which I am super keen for. I’ll buy whatever she writes though hahaha. Can’t believe you read it while you were sick, I’d be KO’d on my couch. 😂
started the video, watched your reaction on first 40+pags. stopped video, ordered book and now i'm waiting!
Glad you loved it x
Why do I feel like it’s now mandatory for one of us to be ill when we read Jenn Lyons? Lol
Do you understand my heart now?
The best feeling when an anticipated release delivers!!
I’m so happy you liked it 🥹🥹
This video makes me so excited to try a Jenn Lyons book/series!
Are you looking forward to the continuation of the Southern Reach series in October?
the palpable happiness when you unboxed the inkstone edition, is just beautiful!!
🐉🐉🐉
After watching your reactions to what was happening in the story, I have to read it myself. I haven't read any Jenn Lyons, but have been intrigued about the Chorus of Dragons series since you started talking about it during your reread last year. I just put a hold on The Sky on Fire at my library, which has it on order. I look forward to getting it into my hands as soon as the library get it.
Love the hair, Jade!
I read The Sky On Fire on your recommendation and gave it 5 stars! It was so good and I loved how fast I flew through it
The writing does not improve in Fourth Wing.
Lucy & the Octopus will make you cry.
Girl, just get rid of Fourth Wing life is too short. Save your time and go watch a spoiler rant review.
I am so glad I've not bought fourth wing. I also think I wouldn't like it!
Dragon rider was a really good book I enjoyed it.
I listened the audiobook for fourth wing and I think this helped me with the writing, I was not fully attentive to it. I had a decent time but in the end the most interesting part was the protagonist chronic illness and the dragons. I wish it wasn't a romantasy because it would be a much more palatable book.
I surprised myself by enjoying Fourth Wing (no 5 star or anything) but I read it on the beach in an aftertoon, I so rarely see my disability in fiction so was cool seeing the MC with that (especially with the mobility options that come in later). I also love the dragons, especially the wee one. Anyone, totally got while reading why it would and wouldn't be good for people but good beach read xD
I was so excited for How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying, but I got halfway through chapter 1 and DNF'd it. I thought it was horrible. I like the villainess & isekai manga/manwha so I thought the book sounded really good. I did not like the main character, the writing style, the dialogue, or the extreme violence.
Fourth Wing is so bad, was recommended to me by a couple people I work with who said it was Harry Potter’ish! ….it’s just poorly written chick porn. I hate quitting books but about a 100 pages to the end, I had to throw in the towel. It’s definitely not for straight men. Lol
Maybe try the audiobook for Fourth Wing. I throughly enjoyed it via audiobook. However, I can understand why people may not enjoy the writing style.
I have "When women were dragons" by Kelly Barnhill on my TBR för july. I have no idea if it contains actual dragons though, it was a cover choice at the library.
It's a great read! I read it shortly after it came out from my local library. Kinda cause I heard about it, but also the cover drew me in.
@@victoriacalvert7499 Wow, thanks. I look forward to reading it even more now. 😃
"Maybe when I'm in the mood for trash..." 😂
Just commit to calling it trash, it’s okay 😂😂
Dragon rider sounds so good I had a funny feeling you would not like fourth wing x
Decided to join you with reading the new Jen Lyons book. I almost never read new releases, so that would be fun.
Totally agree with your view on fourth wing, the story is fun, but the writing is terrible.
Who guessed that Jade wouldn’t like Fourth Wing? ✋ 😂 I enjoyed it for what it was but saying that I haven’t immediately picked up Iron Flame yet, which is a little telling. But I have preordered Onyx Storm so 🤷🏼♀️
Loved Iron flame! In my opinion it was better than Fourth Wing. Although, I’ve heard a lot of people didn’t enjoy it.🤷♀️
You might have a fan (other than me) in Lowestoft library because we have a dragon display that appeared after you announced your July tbr 😂 I’ve really enjoyed a lot of the same books as you so Dragon Rider will soon be added to my collection and will be a priority read.
I used a d20 and came up with a list of 20 prompts too for this month 😮 oh my goodness 🤗
Is there a second book to that Witchsign? I’m sure I brought you the next book ages ago for your birthday. I’m sure it was that series 🤔 Really looking forward to this video though…
Fourth Wing took me a while. I had been told you have to get through at least 100 pages before it starts getting good. For me, it got a lot better after the gauntlet challenge. Hope that helps.
I read Dragon Rider in May and gave it a very high 3 stars. I had a few issues with the writing which stopped it quite reaching the 4, but I liked the plot and characters and I think the series as a whole has a lot of potential - I'm looking forward to book 2
A friend of mine calls what you call a cheeseburger a 'popcorn read', and I think that's perfect term because it's not something anyone is going to be offended by or that needs too much explanation. Love that you call them cheeseburgers, though... had never heard that term until you used it during sprints!
Whooooooo! I'm so so happy you enjoyed Dragon Rider! (Just a small note, I think the central character's name is pronounced like Jay - but if Taran talked about him during the event and that's how he pronounced Jai's name ignore me! I trust in Taran's word heh) given empire + politics + dragons I was 99.8% sure you'd love it hehe
I DNFed Fourth Wing after like 80 pages, I couldnt with the cringe 😅 I already felt like giving up in chapt 2 but I pushed through but nope, it was horrible.
Hey Jade! And hello to any fellow patrons <3 I hope I'm not the only one who skipped to Jade's review of Fourth Wing before going back and watching the rest of the vlog? I mean...I missed hearing about the flaming HOT men and I needed more of my equidistant windows XD anyways, hopefully we'll see you soon for more sprints Jade, they're always such a fun time and you're the best <3 Have a better time with something else, I don't blame you for DNF'ing Fourth Wing haha
i didn't immediately jump to it, i needed the build-up of jade's journey towards it 😂
My comment was hidden for some reason. I was saying I read Darwin's Dragons and enjoyed it. Glad it wasn't one of the many books I had to get rid of. Why would that be hidden? LOL
Hey, look at that! My comment is back up! LOL
I love, love, love seeing you read through your Owned TBR! I'm also impressed with how fast you read. I would not be able to read through a big book like that in a week. I would have to spend every day reading for at least 10 hours to be able to make it 75% of the way through it in a week. Maybe 50% in a week, but I would need to be focussed on the book which would be hard for me to do lol... I read about 70 or so % of a book in 10 hours once, but it was a short one. I love your videos so much, so glad you post more regularly now, even though saying this might junx it lol... I would love to see your owned tbr books be half of what they were in your last video for them by the next time you make that video. It will be so much fun to see this video and I'm excited for that day. I hope you have a great weekend and rest of July and have fun whatever your plans this summer. Good luck with your reading every day. I haven't read in a long time. I'm focussed on buying spices for the recipes I plan to make soon and looking for the recipes to make because I keep losing them for some reason. They are in my Pinterest boards but I keep forgetting what recipe calls for a certain spice once I get the spice and it's annoying. Funny, but annoying. EVERY TIME! I bought celery seed once because of a recipe I saw and never again was able to find it AND can't find anything else needing that. LOL There are other spices that don't have a recipe but I'm hoping to find something soon. Good luck finding more 5-star reads rather than more dnfs!! I hate dnf's, especially when I spent money on these horrible books.
I read Darwin's Dragons a couple of months ago and enjoyed it. I know you were not into it much, but we rarely ever have the same taste in books. I didn't know I would enjoy it, so I'm glad it was not a waste of money like many of my books have been since I started buying them. I need to find more dragon books but I'm afraid to hate them all.
Okay but the bee case is so stinking cute
Happy Belated Birthday! What an amazing haul! Also, as a heads up, Okapi is pronounced "O-Kaa-Pee'!
