Welcome to the Dog Gone Problems Video Channel. We are a team of Dog Trainers, Dog Behavior experts and Puppy Class Instructors helping dog guardians better communicate and live with their four legged friends.
We use positive reinforcement, dog psychology and many of the same communication methods dogs use with one another.
Here you will find videos shot during the in home dog behavior sessions we conduct with our clients and their dogs.
You can find detailed write ups including these videos at www.doggoneproblems.com
If you need help with your dog and are in the Los Angeles or Omaha Nebraska areas, please fill out the session request form on our website.

I must admit, I’ve never found recordings of noises to be effective in this. Granted, I’ve never had to try and deal with thunderstorm counter conditioning, but I have with gunshot and crow scarers. I’ve always used clapping as my source of the noise as you also get the resonance from the clap itself. It’s also worth noting that not all dogs are food motivated, I have a little Jack Russel that has absolutely 0 food motivation, I used play for this dog as she loved the flirt pole. The note on the humidity is a really great detail and the note on the flash is another good detail to think about. Good video

Thank you I really needed this. My foxhound Annie does this all the time and she also eats bags of chips or any kind of bagged food left on the couch. She goes crazy. What are your tips for teaching dogs not to eat people food that is left around? I know it shouldent be left out but when it is and I’ve forgotten what should I do?
If you hold the ball in your mouth and drop it in to the bucket, the dog, cat, cow, horse, pig, goat, racoon, etc., will imitate you. This guy doesnt even know anything about animules. He never set foot on a farm.. he`s a city slicker....
So I have a question. I have been training dogs 25 years. I have never run into this. You are the only video dealing with people on the other side of the fence, not dogs. My neighbor is the only one he sees. He fence runs. I understand the concept you are teaching, but I never have the leash or treats on me when he gets home. So if I give my neighbor treats, does he throw them before he starts barking? If the guy had a consistent schedule, it would be easier. I can use family and friends on the other side of the fence and have him leashed with them. He knows all of these people. Do they wait for him to quit barking to reward? At what point do they reveal themselves? Building a barrier where he can't see my neighbor is going to be hard dealing with a 4 foot fence. Once the truck pulls up he goes into reactive mode. I don't want to have to resort to a choke collar. The other problem I have is my geriatric dog tries to discipline him when he does it. But I can't treat one and not both. I am kinda using treats to keep nutrition in the other dog. But once he goes into reactive mode, she goes into discipline mode. I have had mixed breeds heelers before. This is my first full blood. I was going to use him as a service dog, after he bit my neighbor, he can't be a service dog. He still needs a job. I will still use him at home for a service dog, but he is extremely high energy and needs a job. Do you have suggestions for a job for him? I am running into other minor issues I think time will fix them, so I don't worry about them yet.
If i need more help. Can you advice me how i can find a behaviorist to train my dog from not biting me thats affordable??
Who are you and where can I learn from you.?
I don’t have guest to practice this with
Be nice to be able to hear you instead of all those dogs yapping
David, how do you manage this when it's a reaction to everything, including things in the back yard? It's birds, any animal, leaves, smells, sounds, anything. It gets so bad that he won't potty, poop, or even pay attention to any guardians? Food, even high value foods, don't work. He's that super reactive. (I'll call as well) So can we even go back even further than where this dog is?
Both of those options are so expensive. Go down to the farm supply store and buy an electric fence charger, a roll of wire, and a bag of insulators. You can kit out your entire fence line for about $60, $80 if you have a huge yard.
😂😂😂😂 it’s to correct the dog 🤦♀️
The irony of my dog losing her mind while watching this lol. Thanks for the tips!
but my dog dont care about treats 99% of the time, he may take it and then spit it out and walk away. and if i use cheese he gets sick... "pick a dog like Sammy" i cant pick any dog. i have no friends with dogs in this city all i have to work with is the other dogs on the street, half of them my dog hates and some of them hate my dog.... if i go to places with lots of dogs there is almost always some uncontrolled dog of leash running in to my dogs face. and almost all dogs that wants to say "hi" are pully, high energy dogs
Mine won't take the treat if she saw a dog even on the horizon, she is barking pretty much immediately and the only time she did accept a treat (it was a cat, less reactive to those), she started choking as she barked anyway! We have our work cut out with our rescue dog I think.
Perfect name, kudos.
Great video, thank you! How often should i do this training with my puppy? Is this a daily training tool?
Please help me I have a 2year old German Shepherd that’s very aggressive when lunging and chasing cars any advice thanks

Treats don’t work my dog catches on what worked for me since my husband can’t always help me I have a big dog a peanut butter filled kong totally was golden for me to do.
This is not BAT.
Holy wicked hard to watch with the baby crying :(😢
The second the neighbors dogs bark at my dog he goes from 0 to 10 in 2 seconds, there is absolutely no time to calm him down
My dog just broke a nail on the fence and he cut his back paw when i pulled him away from the fence
Bless you!😅
Oh my god he's talking forever to do it
Thank you so much for this cheaper easier solution with the PVC pipe idea!
GRIFFITH! You’re so cute 🥰
I would love for you to respond to me and I have subscribed and thank you for everything. I have a dog that I found two months ago. She is a Shih Tzu and I have four cats. She has really come along way with the cats always on a leash, and I am retired, so only when I have an appointment I have baby gates all over. She has really come along way however, my four cats are suffering because they used to snuggle in my bed and I need advice because the dog must be guarding me or to bed and all she doesis barks excessively if the cats come near to bed unless she is sleeping but it is really out of control and I just need advice
This is brilliant thank you, my dog loves going in the backyard but will not move when I put the collar and leash on him so this is what I will be using ❤
The training part was excellent, thank you for that. When the subject moves on to medicine, it becomes clear he doesn't have a clue about what he's talking. 1 - Ear cleaning solution does NOT humidify the dog's ear canal. It's a solvent for accumulated earwax, which would prevent the medicine from coming into contact with the diseased skin. Some treatments require a cleaning-only period of several days before moving up to the medicine. 2 - Ear infection medicine does NOT dry up the ear canal. That doesn't even make sense, as dried up skin would facilitate irritation & infection. The medicine treats the condition through antibiotic and fungicide action. Moral of the story is: dog trainers are not vets, and vice-versa. No vet will ever teach you how to convince the dog to do the treatment. So good video overall.
The issue I still see here is that this will work with the owners but not with visitors. Every new person would have to be "introduced" to the dog and each one would have to repeat the training to gains trust. We are not eradicating the issue at its root.

. I feel stressed watching this whole video including how the dog is handled … so idk how this puppy managed learning anything …
I’m sorry it’s not a cat thing 🐈⬛ love that biit 😂😅
Well thx for showing us😂😂
So how do you do this in December?
Sad almost harassing the dog to make the video
My mini schnauzer never barked... he SCREAMED. Rip Max❤
Hahaah, let’s see that training once the dog is on the other side! ALL dog trainers love to do things that are in control versus reality.
I got a two year old Aussie yesterday and she's good with self control when running she doesn't care but when it's my daughter coming towards her she's scared and snaps around her how can I stop that behavior I am getting a muzzle to see if that helps shes probably never been around kids
Love the method, where's the positive reinforcement?
My late husband used to walk our pitbull and he was ok. But now, I wanna continue to walk him, but whenever I put the leash out, he got so excited. And, I cannot bring him to walk his gonna drag me out of the door because he know we are going out. I cannot control him and im worried because he is heavy (85lbs). One day I tried to put his leash on and pulled him, he suddenly ran towards the door and I thought I lost my arm and at the same time I lost my mind. My arm was sore after that ordeal. Ill try this and see if it works for both of us. Thank you for sharing this video.
Any videos on that potty spot? How you built it, how it holds up, odor, pests, if you have to clean the pee off, etc?
Man. I'd pay actual cash if my dogs would act like that! That is tame and calm compred to my horde! But then again I have 11 and they feed off of each other. Lol
any ideas for a dog (doberman) that actually jumps (clears) a six foot fence??
I adopted a romanian rescue a couple of months ago who is terrified of leaving the flat, follows me around the house, just generally really anxious. I'm working with a behaviourist but also doing some research into how people work with similar cases, and have been so frustrated that 99% of the trainers jump to slipleads. Greta is basically my dog and I'm so relieved to find someone giving the kind of advice and gameplan that would work for mine without forcing with a slip lead. Thank you for filming this and making ir public!!
