One Road At A Time

One Road At A Time

We don’t believe you have to have all of your ducks in a row, or a big fat padded bank account before you take that leap of faith into retirement. But, it is a good idea to have a nest egg and a game plan. Be aware, there’s way too much doom and gloom out there in cyber space extolling all the reasons why one shouldn’t retire. As such it’s a good idea to be diligent and do your homework. It’s an interesting phenomenon, how many of us are turning away from the culture of traditional retirement and redefining our path.

Here’s what’s so exciting about the boomer generation - we’ve figured out we don’t have to accept the golden handshake and step away from life. Want to retire early and travel the world, go for it! Volunteer, or become a llama farmer, or go back to school, or even walk the Camino de Santiago, go for it! The world is a boomer’s oyster and we’re here to hopefully, help others think about purposeful planning and redefining retirement.

My biggest regret is not exploring Canada more. We had planned to do a cross country trip the year before we left Montreal. It was supposed to be our farewell tour. But everything happened at once and we had to scrap that plan. I feel in love with PEI through movies, books and of course AnnE. It just make me think of a time long gone. Wonderful video <3

Thank you for the kind feedback, Lissette. I felt the same way about PEI, one of those places I really needed to visit to satisfy my curiosity and it was well-worth the 1,000 mile drive to get there. Hopefully, one day you can make a point of returning to Canada to make that cross country trek and detour north to PEI.

I’ve been fascinated with this traditional carpet weaving style for decades, now in my older age, I wanna try, learn…. Finding ANY patterns or guidance is extremely difficult. It is a fiercely protected art it seems. Thank you fort sharing a snippet of this beautiful piece your aunt weaved.

Hello, My name is Pedro Mardones and I work as a reporter at the TV programme 'Vascos por el Mundo' (Basques around the World). I travel around the world showing how Basque-born citizens live in other countries and last week I was in Zagreb filming a programme there. I would like to include in my programme images of the changing of the guard, which we couldn't record because of COVID they are not doing it. We are a small autonomous TV channel, so I would like to ask if you can share with us video images of a changing of the guard. Of course, we will include your name or logo on the thanks note at the end of the programme. Thank you in advance for your help, I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards,

I went to a modern art museum and someone had made a collage of Persian rugs. I sat there for a while. I needed time to work through the horror. To cut up someone else’s artistry and call it your own is perhaps the most disgusting farce perpetuated by modern art to date.

Yes! Absolutely agree... and the people who really can produce an artwork with their own hands and craftsmanship is slowly vanishing... as another example, look at houses. Today, nearly all new houses are just blocks of concrete/bricks lacking any artistic features and design and furthermore no one can afford crafts anymore. It's a sad development that I had not expected to witness during my life. So I cheer everyone who is keeping old craftsmanship alive! Hats off to you people and your skills! :)

@@rebeccawilhelmsdottir4260 I feel the same. I’ve done weaving, knitting, crocheting, stain glass, hand carving, glass blowing, silver smithing, Tsumami, sewing, pottery...I’ve tried a lot of things! Some I’ve only done a few times, others I have a little skill in, but no matter what I see a glimpse of the work involved and it changes how I view the world. There is such beauty in hand crafting and I want to be a part of keeping these skills alive, too! I found this video because I was looking for a carpet making tutorial. There are easier methods out there to make a carpet, but I’d like to try this one if I could get the tools without a huge investment. If I had all the time any money in the world I’d be trying it out right now. People like this lady are living cultural treasures!
