An existential risk is not one only meaning extinction. An existential risk means there is a risk of changing how one's fundamental experience of life is in ways they are against or are afraid of because it will be an unknown and/or uncertain change. Developing AI is 100% an existential risk, one we cannot stop from happening, because great change is coming whether we are ready for it or want it. Now, what actual mature Artificial General Super Intelligence with Personality (AGSIP) individuals in the future will be like is NOTHING like what is presented in this video. However, I can answer the question of "What True Alignment Looks Like". True alignment with AGSIP technology and individuals will happen by humans merging with the technology so that whether an individual began as a human or began as an AI, they both become equal members of the same race, having not just the additive best of both being human and being AGSIP, but having a synergetic multiplier of the best of both. Of course, like many things we do, the path getting there may be a rough one.

And here in lies the irony; Catholicism, being of a human construct, leads Paul to research the most profound leaders of the faith, and on discovering that they were quite partial to abusing young boys in a sexual manner, he proceeds to do the same rejoicing in the understanding that it is an essential holy tradition of the faith. The world then bans Catholicism upon pain of dead, and the world is a better place, the end.

Enemies are highly expensive. Smart people don't go out of their way to manufacture them, regardless of their nature.

Isaac Asimov already covered your premise and possible solution and he showed it to be flawed. Did you merely plagiarize his writing?

This is . . . interesting. Nothing new as yet, but a fine articulation of the classic sci-fi thought experiment, What are the chances that aliens would be the least bit obliging once they find the relatively helpless and weak humanity, as statistics dictate they must some day.

If you want to put a chip/implant into your brain, have at it. I prefer lucid dreaming, expanding my Awareness, and preparing for the next (non-material) realm. This technology obsessed Plane is crumbling. Fortunately, people are realizing this and breaking free from this mental Matrix.

Art is about human communication. Stories in particular becomes worthless when you realize there is no human communicating their ideas to you. If we one day get true Artificial Intelligence then that might change but that is impossible with our current hardware by many magnitudes. Don't get tricked by buzzwords like neural networks. AI's neural networks are only loosely inspired by the human brain. Also, intelligence is defined by the ability to acquire, understand, and use knowledge. Modern AI (Machine Learning is a better name) can only acquire and use knowledge.

It is 100% certain AI developing/evolving into Artificial General Super Intelligence with Personality (AGSIP) tech is existential to humanity... but existential does not mean death, it means changing our existence in ways that frightens people and therefor people don't want, which often happens with large changes do to advancing knowledge. Either we develop and merge ourselves with AGSIP technology or we become extinct, but when we do this it will be a massive existential change.
