Hello friends of Yeti Tools, I like my Smartbench, but would like a more powerful milling motor (>=1500 W). Is there perhaps something possible, I'm certainly not the only one. Best regards
Can you adjust the amount of tabs you place on a shape. Something that size would only need 2 for instance.
No, at the moment the tab spacing is fully automated. For this release, each tab is spaced at 20mm intervals. Each tab is a 3D profile with widths of 10mm between tool centres (so a width of 10mm minus the diameter of the tool). We have taken this approach to minimise workholding failure. Tabs definition is a a really interesting question - we want to make everything as automated as possible to reduce complexity, so if you have any ideas on what you would like to see, please let us know and we will try to build it in to future releases! As a heads, up we will be optimising soon with an option for SmartBench to do a final pass to remove most of the tabs after the majority of the material removal has been completed.
@YetiToolLtd 20mm intervals!! Really? So every 20mm you have to deal with a tab? Sorry, am I reading this correctly? That's a real pain if that's the case.
@@nicharvey7211 Thank you for your feedback, we will definitely build more options into our next release.
Q
I am selling my machine as I just don’t use it. Great machine just not got the time for it anymore.
Hi Andrew, I am sorry to hear that! Try posting about this in our Facebook Talk Group as you might have more success selling it on to a good home.
Great !!! Thanks a lot for this lesson
❤
I wish I could purchase a shorter bench somehow.
Are you making an ATC upgrade to this.
Hello! Unfortunately, this isn't in our plans at the moment. Thanks!
To the point no waffle thanks very helpfull
Hello Where can I find the speeds and feeds for the Smartbench on your site please?
Hello - you can find them here: www.yetitool.com/Support/KNOWLEDGE-BASE/smartbench-material-processing

What does VAST mean
Hi, thanks for the video. And when I connect the USB and it opens and it doesn't even turn green, what do I do next?
What format does it save? Why is it not opening?
Hiya Rosa, it seems like your having a few issues with your machine - could you please submit a support ticket - www.yetitool.com/support/submit-a-ticket
Thanks for the video. Would you have any consultancy work to teach how the machine works? Even watching the videos I'm having trouble

were have all gadgets can download, can i use my old vcarve 4 version gadgets.
Nice video right t the point, well done.
How much? (Ball Park figure could work)
Thanks for the comment! Please visit www.yetitool.com
Around 10k i'd guess
Good info but I have a couple issues about putting any lube on the collet. Hard to imagine that with the amount you put on the collet, some isn’t going to get into the core. And when I change a bit, I air gun the collet and nut. If I use any lube, I’d have to completely degrease the collet and nut of grease and stuck on sawdust before regressing the collet. Maybe ok for very large production runs on one bit but otherwise a major choir for every bit change and not very practical.
I tried signing up but the recapcha kept on sending an error
Great vid, thx
I fell in love ….. it was a Saturday night … I took a shower and laid in bed … saw you scrolling up …. Been looking for love for a while now … had my heart humbled a few times …. It’s when I saw you … you big gorilla…. I new something was different …. Cupid has finally struck … yeti pilot I know we don’t know each other yet … but I feel my heart skip a beat as I look for a store near by where we can sit and drink a cup of tea together !!!! I’ll be gentle if you promise not to ever leave me !!!! And we live happily ever after !!! P.s I love you
Hello, can any one suggest what ER collet size to use on my 8mm Marshall / Peerless Watchmakers lathe ? Thank You
Very helpful for a beginner getting into VCarve, thanks!
What router cutter were you using to cut those signs out clean
It was a 3.175mm (1/8th inch) compression cutter 👏
Are you saying that when working with full size sheet that you can't use 140mm of Y axis (70mm on each side for roller support) and that will just have to be considered as waste?
Hi Colin! Thanks for the comment. When working with full sheets, you can add additional boards to either end of the sheet to ensure the beam is fully supported. It's not completely necessary, but it's an option.
@@YetiToolLtd Does the bench extend that far past a full sheet? How do you ensure the seem doesn't effect the cut? Thanks for the reply
The bench with legs attached are 2.8m so you have a little bit of room. Always make sure you use the same thickness of material for best results@@ColinSherraden
First I've heard of this and want to know all about it, seems brilliant as is said in the UK. Cheers!
does the molykote p40 come in smaller sizes, is there an alternative product that comes in alternative sizes
I've never heard about lubing collets. Just a waste of time to be honest.
@@Darctan1 Plus, every time you change a bit, you have to remove all the debris from inside the spindle, collet and nut held on by the lubricant that can’t be blown off. What a mess and time consuming process. And 1/8” turn to tighten. What’s that? How do you accurately measure that?
@@bw162 all i do is just clean everything from mixed coolant/dust. Then tighten new tool as tight as i can without hammer. The runout will still remain the same whatever torque it is tightened to. Car mechanics don't tighten everything to spec either because it's just a waste of time. Just get the job done and don't think too much 😂.
@@Darctan1 I’ve worked in the aerospace industry. If there is a call out for a torque setting for any fastener, it’s torqued. There are design torque values for collets. I use them. I also torque my oil plug nuts, spark plugs, etc on my cars. Doesn’t do any good to crush a washer tightening them. Neither do I want to stress a collet by over tightening it 90-degrees to the pressure angle it applies to the tool and risk twisting it or crushing it; and I have done both. We pay a lot of money to get repeatable accuracy to .0005” to risk degrading that by using garage mechanic standards on a CNC. IMO.
Great information. You have increased my confidence using my cnc. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for the feedback, Derek!
I have a 3 ft lathe for 30 years and never used collets. I used the 3 and 4 jaw chuck, faceplate etc. I will soon buy a set of collets and a chuck and this is a good video to get the basics, thank you. What sort of motor is that one you had there? Like given.
Thanks for the comment. The spindle motor is our own SC1 which has been built to be used with SmartBench, and is manufactured by Mafell AG.
How do you convert the vcarve file?
We cover this at about 17 minutes. :)
Nooice!
Does the Yeti need to be connected to the wifi?
I changed the brushes, how to reset the calculation on the control panel?
You can reset the timer in the maintenance app.
thank you, cheers from the US...Paul
Let me remodel my house with this thing and promote it 😀😂
I want one of these badly. Why can’t $11k show up out of nowhere 😂
sometimes it will, the trick is to use it for the right thing
My god- you are still using brushed spindles in this day and age?
Yes. we are using a brushed spindle motor manufactured by Mafell
@@YetiToolLtd I recognized that you were re-branding Mafells. I am just amazed that you would use a brushed motor- not just because of the maintenance required, but the increased noise and much lower efficiency. Even hobbyists like myself use 3ph spindles exclusively. My fixed machine is also water cooled, mainly for quieter operation.
Did you show how to clean cut a tomato? Did I miss it?
Does this maintain the feed rate to RPM ratio so the cut finish stays consistent?
Thanks for the comment. YetiPilot won't adjust the spindle RPM however, the cut is still consistent throughout.
Will it only cut 1 series alloys or tougher ones like 6 & 7series also?
In this particular video, we are processing 6082. we have not yet tested 7000 series.
@@YetiToolLtd Oh good, did you find any heating issues? What speeds and feeds were you running?
@@TheBartExperience We didn't have any heating issues, and we found coated cutters gave a good finish. The average feed rate was around 600mm/min however, we used YetiPilot for this job which adjusted the feed rate automatically based on tool loading.
Too cool for school
Nice expensive toy for hobbyist. You shouldn’t advertising this machine to use on any real working environment. I’m sure it can do the job but take forever. 3m/m cutting 19mm in 4 pass. cutting straight line on a 8 feet will take 5min 😂
Hi Adam! Thanks for the comment. SmartBench has proven itself to be used in small to medium businesses in a "production environment". While SmartBench mechanics mean its a little slower that some traditional flatbed CNC's, it is a fraction of the cost which makes it more affordable with a faster ROI.
That one was thank you.
that music sure does suck, i wanted to watch the video not listen to that crap
First, this is a very good presentation video. I'd like to see a more commercial version of this machine "Commercial procession." 10-12k range. While I think this machine is very very interesting, it appears to have some limitations due to the low gantry (that's fine), so lot's of cabinet making or prints on doors ect. Commercial version that I'd actually consider buy possibly someday would be like: 1 - Servos 2 - 4x wide work table on a commercial machine, can roll onto job site/ shop (casters). 3 - Steel 4 - ATC spindle 5 - Ball screws on XY Again this is a very interesting CNC modification, on par with a job site table saw accessibility to a CNC owns a market that no other CNC can touch.
Thanks you for the comment, and for the feedback. The gantry and SmartBench splits to allow you to process 7 inches of stock material. We will of course take your feedback into consideration for future models!
These feature you are requesting will double or tripple the cost of the machine. Are you willing to pay that.
@@Z-add If I had a need for it, yes... To be clear, I did state that. I don't have a reason for this machine atm in my life, but to be fair I have no need for this machine at it's current price or at 10-12k. If I had a company where I was pushing out product over and over, then yes, I'd much rather things like an ATC/ballscrew ect as option. I bought a CNC machine, it has an ATV/Ballscrews/Servos. I had the option to get rack and pinion, no ATC and steppers to save lots of money, maybe 4k? I spent more.
you didn't say anything about loosening the screws on the end skid plates!
That's what I thought!

Hi. i was just wonder if the smart bench can be used for Fiberglass door panel groove designs
Hello! Can you please email [email protected] which a detailed explanation and possibly some photos of what you are looking to achieve? Thanks :)
