Oakley's DIY Home Renovation

Oakley's DIY Home Renovation

DIY'ing doesn't have to be difficult, it can be done right, and you can do it too. I show you through videos that anybody can do these DIY projects. I am just a homeowner like you wanting to renovate my home, do it the best way I know how and save money along the way. IT's NOT rocket science! With renovations along with common repairs, maintenance that needs to be done along with different tools used. There are always mistakes being made with any DIY project and I will show you these and how I fixed them, not hide them. Even the professionals make mistakes! By doing these videos my wish is you will be able to see that you too can renovate your own home and do it well. I am NOT in the home construction/renovation/handyman business or sales.

Periodically spritzing the cutting tool and PVC fitting with cool water using a hand spray bottle may keep both the tool and fitting cool. If the PVC and cutting tool gets too hot, the PVC can begin to soften and melt increasing the torque required to cut the PVC.

Btw. I would still count that as digging. Thank god you got a house with good top soil. Not all of us have them. Even in the country, most don’t know anything these days. You could just use that tool. But still great video

ATT vs code maybe different. I was once licensed as a cable installer. Basically it was below sod was code from what I recall 20 yrs ago. As if everyone does things by code. Electrical and any piping, I always do to NEC code as a dyi guy or any times I help others. I force it. But cable. Idk. That means nope.

Now just paint all the metal bronze color and put self closing hinges on lol. I’m wondering why you didn’t do feathers after the tar? lol. You and i are very similar but you’re a little crazier in the OCD than me. The tar on everything above the ground has me baffled a bit. I live in Florida and i can’t even see how it would make a fence last longer. I don’t think i wouldve have welded the aluminum-it would just be brackets or face plate supports like our pool screen rooms in Florida -tho the welding does give it a cleaner look. I would’ve stuffed some wood in the end of some joints of the joints and ran a bolt thru to connect and strengthen a lot of joints-in the end I’d have more of a gap all the way around the frame but that gap gets covered by wood slats. But your idea worked great-my patience adhd and OCD would be colliding with project. But it looks awesome and really is easy but i think it probably scared some ppl watching it because you are showing such detail. Ppl probably think you are screwing up but you are showing the custom process that ppl don’t see a contractor do out in their yard and no 2 jobs would be the same.

Some ppl would probably say this will be me when I’m older. I can see it a little. Let’s give a hand to this guy and his age and be able to do this and do it to the extreme. You can see a little bit of arthritis getting him on the way up and down but he’s not letting it stop him and to every one out there that’s what you do when arthritis is trying to turn you into stone and live your life by the saying -“Don’t ever sit down-you might never get back up” This is major overkill and that’s fine it’s his, there’s a ton of people who have tried to beat the system but it never works lol. I’ve been predicting just about everything this dude was going to add as he went. This will be solid and nice but probably add 1-2 yrs or longer depending on many factors. There’s a reason it eventually goes back to the old easy way because you don’t gain much for all your effort-nature wins. Those pound in metal posts I’m going to try on one side of my yard and see how long they last. There’s a hand held machine that pounds them in 3-4 feet and they’re heavy duty-easy to replace if something went wrong and you don’t use cement. Just so ppl know i live in Florida and we have sandy soil-we on,y set them down in 2 feet and most ppl only cement the end posts or gate posts. I cement about every 4-5 posts. Both fences last the same thru nature and storms and we get major storms. In a crazy storm there might be one panel that has issue and that’s just if the storm is wild. So it doesn’t take what you think it does. Sometimes the stiffer something is the more the wind pushes it. That’s why palm trees don’t fall they flex and big oak trees don’t flex and so they fall. A little flexing actually helps. Just think of your body-you stiffen up someone can push you over or you have some give to you and you will absorb them pushing on you. This guy must be bored AF because I’m typing this as he talks and i can’t believe how little he’s actually done and all the unnecessary work but I’m all for him trying all this with his time ,money and back so I’ll watch the whole thing because he deserves it for all this effort-his wife must be shaking her head inside the house and probably heard 17 versions of this project and how he’s going to do it and then changed it and runs it by her and she has to pretend to be into it. lol. Anyway I’m curious and he’s now put a lot of pressure on himself to have this be perfect. It will barely last longer but don’t tell him. Let the country boy science think it beat the system.

Where I live in Texas, you are required to put the good side of the fence towards your neighbor. Yep, you buy everything and do all the work and your neighbor gets the good side and all for free. 😀

Same HVAC keep air flow will be same even with ANY filter, clean, dirty, any MERV rate. It will be compensate by blow, haw hard blow will work and how many resource and electricity will be used. Filter in HVAC use to clean air to prevent dirty accumulate in system. It is very expensive way to use HVAC to clean air in house. Mach more efficient to use air purifier, most expensive cost hundreds of $, it times cheep compare with HVAC, or it can be DIY for less then $100 by using 4 MERV 13 filters.

I saw one guy use schedule 80 PVC pipe in 8 inch diameter. He buried it down 2 feet like a regular fence post but filled the entire pipe with concrete. Then filled the base in with 2 bags of concrete. The brackets that held the wood were screwed on prior so he didn't have to drill into the concrete.

Your fence is backwards. The braces should ALWAYS face you, so that it is much much harder for someone to climb your fence from the other side, and very easy for you to climb out (specially with the 3 braces you used)...
