    This by far is the best miniature train I’ve seen. Love the vegetation. Felt like I was on the train. Fairy gardens along the way would be a great addition

    Wouldn't this be nice being lit up for it's 6 shuttles everyday, 6km, 5 days a week between Wyena Depot, stopping to pick up morning railtralers, walkers and campers from Denison Gorge platform recreational hub taking them up for breakfast at the Lone Star Cafe station Lebrina? 1 in 40 grades, 10 chain radius horse shoe curves. Slipping on the rails from the eucalyptus leaves and rain drops off the manfern fronds?

    IMAGINE !!!???? A shuttle with Puffing Billy type open carriages every 50 minutes with the 'A class Beyer Peacock 4-4-0 steam loco and this engine on the other end climbing 1 in 40 grades, 10 chain radius horse shoe bends, campers. Picnicers, rail trailers, families, visitors to the Lone Star Cafe Station at Lebrina and the recreational and camp hub at Denison Gorge. A cooperative (WHAT!!!??? ) and lend-lease arrangement between all rail groups. Small business, bicycle Tasmania. Little Rivers Beer or brunch sitting out on the deck of the cafe station looking down the valley towards Mt Arthur and the steam train working hard up the hill. Real engineman experience. 100% steel sleeer and depot workshop at Wyena. 90% subsidises by the cafe, bistro, retail of local foods, 12 overnght cabins , 6 at Denison and 6 at Wyena West new platforn and wines. Camp fees, tourist coaches, bike hire, camp and bike replenishments. Camp fees, mini music festivals at the Denison Gorge amphitheater . Low load and swap motive power with revenue and profit to pay for overhaul. Maybe get that Garrett tucked away, hidden in the shed at Lakers Siding!? Oh and auto nuckle couplings and air brake. In winter looking out the south facing panoramic windows (like the Canberra Arboretum) towards a cloudy Mt Arthur, sitting have a hot roast, by a massive open fire place made from local north east granite rock. A self sustainable cooerative for the North Eadt and Don River recieves revenue, jobs and gets to drive on one of the most challenging sections of railway left in Tasmania. No competition from cars only train it, walk it, ride it , or mobiity scooter it into the gorge.

    Does that little locomotive have FOUR cylinders ? In which case, 2 on a fell central rail or a pinion?? Or is it a compound locomotive? Or sneaky piston valves with over-long Valve Ports. My curiosity is piqued.

  • @paulusintas8627
    @paulusintas86275 ай бұрын

    The green 'Drewry' diesel is one of two original locos that operated on the Mt Lyell railway from 1953 to 1963. The D class are for the most part identical to the ex Tasmanian Government Railways V class & similar to the British Rail Class 04 shunter.

    I used to work with these beautiful little engines a few years back when I was living in Queenie (as on train staff, not loco crew) and I've got to say, I miss the sound of an 8 cylinder Gardiner, if you ask me, I always much preferred working with these diesels then a steam loco, just for the noise and the occasion of them

    This is a RACK (ABT = Roman Abt patent of 1882) loco, are you planning to reopen a Rack section ?

  • @paulusintas8627
    @paulusintas86276 ай бұрын

    Hi there, we have 4 of the original 5 ABT locos that ran the line up until its closure in 1963. (1,2,3 &5) The railway was fully rebuilt and reopened in 2003. The steam rack section is of course the main draw card which has operated since the railways reopening up until June this year. With our longer winter shutdown period almost over, we will start operating some short runs on the non rack sections, as heavy work carried out by contractors is continuing on our many of our 39 bridges. (new transoms and rail being put down currently)
