Which model sunbeam is that? I picked up one in identical paint job as that (crudely painted bright green over the original black frame). Thanks

Hello Colin or Groovy Dubber from Canada, I have just stumbled upon your fantastic website in the most bizarre way, via Rumpole referring to Edward MarjoriBanks who wrote a book about another great Defender Marshall Hall, whose most famous defense was in the murder case of the WW1 folding Green BSA bicycle which had an unusual coaster brake which the suspect owner removed to try to stop the bike being identified. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Bicycle_Case You have done a fantastic job documenting this brake on what does indeed seem to be a green BSA bike. This invention could well have been lost to history without your diligence. I grew up with hub coaster brakes and then whilst in the UK became interested in the stirrup brake especially as they are still standard in China.India/Africa. So I got an old 28* strirrup bike and experimented with backpedal mechanisms for it. When I came back to Canada I used my mechanism for many years to actuate calliper brakes, but recently have refocused on strirrup brakes despite only Endrick rims available here, using the strrup and parts I had brought back with me 40 years ago. Attached is a a link to the video of my latest remake just this March kzread.info/dash/bejne/YqimtbV9m5fZdso.html

the stability at the front shouldn't be too good considering the steering tube angle is going behind the tire contact point (yes i have no idea what im talking about)

Wow! What a fascinating piece of kit. I know of a modern company making a driveshaft similar to this but I had no idea this was on bikes 120 years ago. Plus the rear suspension it was truly ahead of it's time!

Nice frame design. Reminds me of an American cruiser. I wonder why they chose to go with that design rather than the more conventional diamond frame. Edit: Just found out they used that frame design because they found it was stronger than the diamond frame.

Beautiful. I have a 1904-07 B.S.A. fittings Zillmer, EFTF, Cycle Fabrik, Copenhagen. Really cool seeing those B.S.A. stamping on all the components. I am finding it almost impossible to find a replacement for the steel 28" rim, which rusted through when the bike was left outdoors for some time. The English metal rims were so much more durable than those metal clad wooden American rims. I thought it would be easy to find a replacement. No such luck. They are very rare. These bikes really are the most attractive things. This Spring Frame is a work of art. My bike is missing the knurled knob just behind and below the front fork on the forward frame. What is this and is it important, I wonder? Great video. This gentleman also is seen riding the very first Iver Johnson in another video.

I had the 32cc Model in 1953 I had the wheel fitted to my Phillips sports bike when I was 16 years old, the throttle lever was replaced with a twist grip same as a motorcycle and it was much better. Registration was WTW 114, sold it in 1955 because I had to do my National Service in the Army. What a great means of transport I used get 30/35 MPH out of mine. Cost new £28.
