This channel is all about fishing and boating. We are in central Iowa so a lot about local conditions on lakes like Big Creek, 3 mile, 12 mile, little river with some farther destinations like south dakota, minnesota, and wisconsin. We have some content around updates and modifications to the Alumacraft 205 Competitor Tiller as well. Thanks for watching!

Name of that lake starts with a P?
I'd rather not say for fear of it getting pounded on. I normally would share in the title of the video.
Awesome dude!
Thanks Gator. Great times!
What a beautiful lake, I'm thinking of buying property near there😊
Happy New Year. Awesome video. Stripers are my go-to fish to target. I just subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work and tight lines.
Thanks for the sub! Stripers definitely are fun. Hoping for the time to put out more content in 2024.
Ahhh! The ole South Dakota Rooster fish. I heard they taste like chicken if you cook them right. I was waiting for him to get "goosed" by a Northern.
That lake was the dead sea otherwise he probably would have. lol... hope things are going well for you Bo!
Nice touch with the music at the end Fisher Thorson.
Thanks Curt. How are things going for you? gotta love them swimming pheasants, eh?
lol That was a funny looking duck
For sure!!! never seen anything like that before.
Hello from Finland! I am thinking to buy 150 hp Mercury with that big tiller... What are Your thoughts about this combination?
I think it is the perfect setup honestly. Good power, good fuel economy. Wouldn't change a thing. Relaxing to drive with the big tiller hydraulic steering.
Is that little river?
Dig the beard! Killing it!
Thanks Man!
nice fish! WTG on the CPR! :-)
Thanks James. She's still swimming for someone else to get the pleasure of catching!!!
Is that iowa walleye?
Yep central iowa
Thordog, I haven't seen you for quite a while. It's good to see your enthusiasm hasn't changed! Nice eyes! Keep it up. Bo
Hey Bo! great to hear from you!!! hope all is well!
Nice. I run a 19' Lund and just changed to two Ionic 100AH trolling batteries for my Ulterra, but stayed with a series 27 Interstate lead acid for my starting, seeing it get's charged all the time. I also added a standard lead acid 85AH deep cycle Interstate battery for my electronics (2 x Humminbird Solix 12's) and added a switch that allows me to change them over to the cranking battery in case of depletion or problem. Also added a Noco 4 (10x4) bank charger. All in all I have been VERY happy with the new setup.
SOUNDS LIKE a sweet setup!!!
Looks like you have plenty of life jackets for bringing guests along 😁
What are you getting at Luke? lol...
How do you run the wires to your ionic battery since you went from 2 down to 1? Do you just connect the isolator cables that went to your house pump battery to the ionic?
yes. all the cables that were run to both batteries now run to 1. I actually put a terminal post in the compartment with the steering pump and only have a couple of heavy wires running into the battery compartment in back.
Great idea and execution! Looks like it’ll work well
It does!
West lake is one of my go to lakes for crappie. Always catch there
SOLID option but i don't fish it much honestly. maybe i need to try it more often.
@@fisherthorson3811 there is also a small lake there in Osceola called east lake,it has a good crappie bite as well.
@@cornfedexperience5178 I have seen it but never fished it. it is quite a bit smaller isn't it?
@@fisherthorson3811 yes it is much smaller,it does have a boat ramp, but it’s very bank fisherman friendly, but there’s some good sized crappie in there
Very cool!
Bold move! I did think that ice was going to pop apart with the motor wash on LR....didn't seem that thick! These temps, the rain, and wind are really going to rip apart a lot of big water ice the next couple of days!
It'll be go time down there. Just saw on FB that LR looks like it is open today. Missed it by a day!
Missed it by a day... story of my life! LOL
I picked up “slurping it” and “snagglepuss”. I’ll be integrating those two terms into my 2023 fishing vocabulary.
Lol...love it Curt!
Gotta love that lingo!!!
How hard was it to string battery cables for your new charger?
Pretty easy. If there isn't a hole between the right compartment and the area under the rod locker for the batteries just drill one.
@@fisherthorson3811 Thanks. Was there much to take apart to run the cable to back for the starting battery?
@@tomgrall8509 I had to pull up the right hand section of the deck and then run through the right side rod locker. easy peasy
@@tomgrall8509 I took the front left part of the deck off by the dry storage. otherwise not bad.
Piyas?
Yes.... although I was just up there this last weekend hoping to repeat and nothing but dinks.
@@fisherthorson3811 we are headed up in a couple weeks. Killed em last year.
My crestliner pro tiller 1750 did 42 empty with a 90… I thought this thing would rip
𝐩яⓞ𝓂𝓞Ş𝐦
Did you get into any small mouth?
We did well on smallmouth on Waubay. They were up shallow on rocky points this trip.
Epic day!
Absolutely!!! we crushed em!!! Thanks for checking it out!
Wow, you guys killed them.
It was a good time. Thanks for checking it out!
Have you noticed a difference in ride going from lead acid batteries to lithium batteries in rough water? I would assume that it would not cut the waves as well taking all that weight out of the front end like that. what are your thoughts on that?
The ride in rough water hasn't changed that I can tell. Has about 1-2mph faster at top end with the 150.Taking weight out of the back end as well going to only 1 battery in back while taking weight out of the front kept it balanced I think.
@@fisherthorson3811 gotcha i was curious because i fish a lot of big water and would like to go to lithium's eventually. but worried taking all the weight out from the lead acid batteries would make the ride really rough since most of the weight is in the back end.
@@evanfettig2606 it really did stay balanced by doing it that way. I fish some big water too.
@@fisherthorson3811 Cool thanks for your response.
Nice job, just did this myself same charger bought G Line batteries great price.
Nice... Haven't heard of the g lines before. Thanks for checking it out.
Y’all are crushing them, I never have any luck on BC
Thanks for Subbing Alex. It ain't always like that out there, but when it is it is super fun. Thanks for checking it out.
I’d love to get out fishing on your boat with you! I’m up in slater
I love these Ionic batteries in my boat. I can fish 2-3 days on a single charge. You just beat the information you get from the AP on the phone.
I have to admit they are sweet. Nice weight savings and performance is just really really peace of mind.
What pound line?
we either run 18lb leadcore or 10lb braid when trolling at big creek. Thanks for the question
What type of battery charger do you use
I plan to make a video on how i charge in the near future. I have hobby rc cars and planes so I use a charger made for that that handles lithiums.
Would like to see a test like this to include an electric trolling motor
I have since added lithiums for the trolling motor as well. Love them so far. Went with a cheaper brand for those and working just fine so far.
Nice rig! I live in IA too (DSM METRO). What Lakes are you fishing? Still happy with the 205 or wish you went smaller to the 185?
Still loving the 205. Only thing that is a detriment is it takes up 2 stalls in my garage. I fish around des moines, southern iowa, and trips to south dakota mostly
I have the exact same boat set up, looking into the Ionic batteries also. do you have any updates? Also, with your 3D printer you have, do you make and sell any custom stuff at all?
Josh - Thanks for reaching out. I love the ionic. I also went with some cheaper amazon lithiums for the troller last fall that I am having good luck with. I plan a follow up video as I just got the boat out of storage yesterday. I am willing to print stuff for you.
Great idea, nice and compact. I was thinking about copying your build. Do you have any plans to share the stl for the brackets?
Thanks for checking out the video. As a general rule I don't tend to share the .stl's. In this case you really need to measure as the case really isn't consistent enough anyway. I am super happy with it as i had a chance to use it this ice season and to swap it from boat to boat. it really works well.
I really like your video. Not many on the Turboswing for such a big purchase. One question that I cannot find anything on in months of reading reviews. Since the rope is so far back do you notice it pulling up your bow more than normal or does the bow stay down?
I don't notice it pulling up. I can easily keep it down with trim. Thanks for checking out the video. I am very happy with the purchase. It really does let me use my fishing barge for playing around with watersports.
Heck yeah man!! Have to meet up sometime
after one season of use, how have they held up?
I am super happy and impressed with them. Would do it again in a heartbeat!
What charger are you using to charge the Ionic battery?
I have a charger for my rc cars that I use but actually have only charged it a hand ful of times as it stays charged good enough with just the alternator.
ISDT q6pro can charge any battery there is
What kind of Bimini top do you have? Any pics of it set up thanks.
I bought one on amazon. Did you post on the facebook page and see my pics?
What did you use for throttle cable and throttle at handle bars?
The throttle is thumb throttle from the snowmobile. The cable I got on amazon. I had to but 3 different ones before I was able to get one that was roughly the right length. 1 too short , 1 too long, and the 3rd time was the charm. lol
Is there a black box?
yeah. zip tied to the strap in the back of that carrier
@@fisherthorson3811 Thank you. Just trying to better understand portable livescope components.
how do you extend the pole for thicker ice?
I can sl;ide the grey part down the handle. I don't get very thick ice here. If i did I would make the pole longer to begin with. I rarely see a foot and never over 18 inches so this pole works fine for me.
Fisher - what clutch/torque converter are you using? Is that a genuine Comet or one of the cheaper clones? Thx
it is one of the cheap amazon clones for $70 i think it is called a 30 series. it has been working really good though so far.
@@fisherthorson3811 Thanks!
Those are some pretty prints, broski!
Thanks man. Fabricating is a blast man. Gotta love the 3d printer for making brackets and such.
Wait a minute! You have a snow dog. Did you make it from an old snowmobile? No video of making or using it. come on man! what the heck!
I have some video but lost some files of the build. It is on the to-do's to try and scrape it together... Thanks for checking out this one though.
